Great video. I have a thinkbook 15 g3, which is essentially the same. Thank to your video I know that I could use a ssd 2280 in the main slot in the future. I thought It was 2242 only. As a side note, in my unit, the second ssd (2280) is PCIe3x2 only. Thank you.
From memory I'm not sure you could non-destructively disassemble the fan assembly, but you could just replace the fan outright, or use compressed air to blow dust out of it.
Hi great video, thanks for making it. Question, when adding the mvme drive, is it necessary to move it over? Or can we just leave it there and install the new drive into the second slot? What would be the difference? Thank you.
Holy just got the second hand laptop of it, this video is really helpful, like really, Finally i know where the second ssd slot is and this overall build is straightfoward to open up, really helpful sir i'll be using this as my guide
You can reposition the battery so that it blocks the second M.2 slot and makes way for a 2.5" bay, but the system lacks the SATA lead, bracket and crucially the SATA connector on the mainboard. I believe there are models with a 2.5" drive and these would have these. There is also the option of a larger 60Wh battery, although I don't know if this also blocks the M.2 drive.
Praise and question: Ryzen G2 ARE is superb at least when found mint condition second hand for the price absolutely fast and capable of even gaming with 2023 drivers Would like to add 16gb to the empty slot - would that mean pc will run 16gb as dual-channel and remaining 8gb as single channel? I mean I don't want to disable dual-channel for good! Just need extea ram for virtual machine but when I gaming dual-channel id important and 16gb is plentiful.
Can I still use it plugged without the battery? Cause the battery is not charging anymore and I just use it at home not outdoor. So I dont mind using it while plugged.
I love my Thinkbook 14 Gen 2. Its a great computer especially for business applications. It runs them lightning fast. It is good at photo editing and video editing too.
My only complaint is the screen, but everything else is awesome for a great price too 😀 I plan to upgrade in 2026 so hopefully they have an OLED 120hz screen 👍
I think there are slight variances in these Gen 2s based on the MTM number. The 20VD004TUS (I think) has SATA for the second SSD instead of a second NVMe. I have a WUS. What was the MTM on the laptop you showed for this video? Also, I head that one of the NVMe slots is gen4 while the other is only up gen3. Any insight on which is which?
One versions of this laptop (Thinkbook 14 Gen 2) have one NVMe slot + one 2.5 SATA and another one has two MVMe slots. Is there anyway I can know what version I have without disassembling it?
Great video - thanks for this. Followed your instructions this morning and quickly installed new RAM. On reflection, I've a quick question... I have the same machine with 8GB of hardwired RAM; I added 16GB today (I'm doing video editing work and the machine was slow). Both RAM types are the same speed and spec, but as I've mismatched the capacities (8 + 16GB), will I get the performance benefit of 24GB total - or would 8GB of added RAM have been better to match capacities and support performance? Thanks
Realise this is an old comment but incase anyone comes looking: It's a tough one. I doubt now due to system age you will actually feel a benefit of going "dual channel" and matching the Soddims size to the pre-soldered RAM. But you do indeed have more headroom for more tasks, but as it's mismatched you should still see a bottle neck in being that you can only have a single app use up to 8GBs of Ram. Same as speed, if you install different RAM speeds the system will defualt to the slower of the two. Personally I would go with matched for dual channel, as you will be able to use more than your lowest installed amount of RAM. If that makes sense.
I've been searching for a video like this! Thank you! The lenovo website currently lists the max memory to 40GB though - is there a way to figure out which number is accurate for my machine?
Done all the above but on my AMD(4000 series) powered ThinkBook 14 the second SSD is not showing and I have tried a few now. Any ideas? What I can check, assume there maybe a bios setting I am missing
Is there a bigger battery option available for this or 15 inch version, because there's a lot of space left in bottom and would love to increase the batter capacity.
Hi thanks for the video its really helpful. Can you confirm lenovo think book 15 G2 ITL has 2 slots for SSD and builtin Ram is 8GB does it support 32GB Ram as you shown in the laptop has single slot for Ram.
Because the purpose of the video is to show how to upgrade the components, and I'd fitted the M.2 2280 drive I use for testing into the first slot. As this is my work laptop for site visits, and don't need significant amounts of storage for this, I actually returned it to the standard storage configuration. As I was upgrading the RAM to 16GB it made sense to film all the upgrade options.
Hi I have the think book 14 itl wich has a 14 inch lcd panel TN and i want to replace the tn panel to full hd ips lcd can you recommend a website to help me find the compatible lcd that work with my laptop ?
Bro what's your point of view and review regarding the Dell Inspiron 15 5510 laptop? Is it worth purchasing for approx. 820$ ?And is this model upgradeable to Windows 11 ?
I take a proper look at the 15-5510 here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Lg1ibQSg1tA.html I don't know enough about laptop pricing in the US to know if that is good value unfortunately - what spec is that for? Both the Inspiron 15-5510 and ThinkBook 14 Gen 2 can be upgraded to Windows 11 I believe.
@@The_Math_Nerd I don't know if its good value as you didn't say what spec it is for that price? In general I thought it was ok for what it cost here, but nothing too special.
Thanks for the video! Do you know if the battery can be upgraded? The battery life is listed as "Up to 7.5 hours" but many reviews say it doesn't last nearly that long. Thank you for your insight!
