If your Lenovo Yoga laptop screen is showing lines, flickering, or has similar issues - it MAY be a display cable issue or the screen itself. In this episode, I show you how to replace the display cable in a Yoga 730-13IKB model, but the steps are the same if you're replacing the screen itself. Take your time, have patience, and you can save yourself a ton of money on this repair.

My Lenovo 13 screen started flickering and went completely blank. Replacing the display cable put it back to life. I followed each step and it was much easier than I initially had thought. Thank you so much!

I have the same device. The problem is that the touch only works at the bottom of the screen. The Start button and the taskbar, while at the top of the screen, the touch does not work at all. In addition, the mouse cursor moves involuntarily to the direction of the clock!! The effects of finger pressures appear on the screen animated, just as they appear in screen recording programs that show places of pressure! I was really tired. I also bought a used touch controller from eBay and did not find any difference! Do you think that LCD cable interferes with the touch control? THANK YOU.

I've recently had the flickering and line issues which tends to take place when my Yoga Slim 13" laptop starts cranking and generating heat (courtesy of 300+ tabs being open in my browser!?!). At times, it simply doesn't display, then it does when I next jump on it! I've taken it to 2 x computer repair shops and they've been lazy in their diagnosis in recommending a screen replacement. I sensed it wasn't the screen but rather the screen connector. Is this lazy diagnosis common behaviour amongst laptop repair shops? Thank you for confirming my suspicions!

I understand screen cable failure is a common problem with Lenovo laptops, and especially the Yoga touchscreen types like mine. Can you figure out the cause? Does the cable get pinched at any point while screen is rotated? Wondering whether there is a way to re-route or reinforce the cable at a pinch point to avoid recurrance.
@TheNetGuy
@TheNetGuy Год назад
My guess is just weak or poorly designed cables never made for this amount of usage/flexing.

Hi Net Guy. I also have a 14" Yoga 730-13IKB with the screen glitches. Apparently, there are several different models for the replacement cable, depending on whether it has touch-screen or not, etc. Some have a 30 pin connector, some have a 40 pin connector. Did the model in your video have the touch screen with 1980x1080 resolution? Thanks in advance.

@@TheNetGuy Thanks for your fast response. The Amazon.com link you posted for the cable (part number DC02003GC00) has this description: "Connector type: 30-pin, only works with a NON Touch Screen". On my laptop's connector, I counted 30 pins, but the part number on that tag is different: DC02002Z800. Although, the Amazon link for your part states: "Compatible Part Numbers: DC02002Z800, DC02003GC00". Should I still buy it from your link? Please let me know. Thanks.

Hi, I have the same problem on my lenovo yoga, and I think it is exactly the same, but the place where they are going to fix it wants to change the screen and the mainboard to solve the problem, but I don't know if those could be the causes of the glitching
@TheNetGuy
@TheNetGuy 3 года назад
Replacing the screen and mainboard is the same as replacing the engine and transmission in a car when the tire is flat. It’s a universal “get out of jail free” card for the shop because they don’t know. I’d recommend trying this first.

Hi my 510 141sk screen flashes on and off sometimes, if I tilt the laptop forwards towards the viewer (not moving the screen) it goes black and tilting it backwards brings the display on. It is most strange. Dos this sound like the cable?
@TheNetGuy
@TheNetGuy 3 года назад
Definitely sounds like something is broken or lose in there. You can pull off the bottom cover and take a look to make sure that the cables are seated properly to the motherboard. Otherwise you’re gonna have to crack open the top.

@@TheNetGuy You can see what my YOGA 730-15IKB is suffering from in the following forensic video I captured. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eoMT8kR66xI.html It's very interesting that the windows are "translucent" through each other - like old CRT based TVs and displays would have "burn in issues" When I'm in Paint or GIMP or whatever graphics program and I fill a canvas with solid black - the windows underneath is visable through the black. If I do a screen capture WIN+S - and take the image to another display (or just view it scaled up or down) the "ghosted windows" and artifacts aren't in the captured image - so the chipset thinks its putting out a signal without artifacts - so the artifacts are being generated at some point after the chipset has rendered the display... most likely by the hardware... but I am leaning to it being an issue with the drivers / chipset / screen/display hardware communication because the artifacts are not produced in the BIOS, on the boatloader screens, or in my brief trials with linux. They can also be dismissed (often) by just putting the system to sleep and waking it... although the reappear quite often. The way that the problem progressively gets worse the more concurrent time I spend on the machine seems to tell me that something is slipping out of tolerance or I have a soft-failure of a component *shrug*
