Someone finally did it and it was no other than Lenovo themselves. The 7840S with the 780M in a thin and light with great battery. It's PERFECT for students who game.

Speaker is amazing. And that is the best laptop microphone I ever heard, better than a lot of phones. The detail on your voice is amazing. I mean for many years I thought, Aple did that for years what's wrong with everyone else, but now finally somone catch up.

The yoga series has improved a lot. It may sound silly but it feels so nice to have good speakers in a laptop this thin.

Thx for the video. The lack of an HDMI port makes me lean towards the Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 Gen 8, with 32GB RAM, Ryzen 7 7840HS, Radeon 680M iGPU and a 90Hz 2.5K IPS display. It has plenty of power and memory, around 10 hrs of battery life, and at ~990 UK pounds I think the price is really good.

When will you be able to get the device for a full review ? Also what's the release date and price ?

How is the Radeon 780M performance in Adobe Suites compared to Intel Iris Xe (96 EU)? Asking this as Adobe products have a habit of favoring Intel QuickSync over AMD for H/W acceleration.

This laptop will not be available in North America, despite the links Matt provides to the U.S. and Canadian websites of Lenovo. Matt was not aware of this information when the video was made (see his comment below). However, I find it misleading for Matt to leave the links up now that he knows. Furthermore, Lenovo was pretty sleazy to sponsor this video but leave Matt in the dark about regional availability. Matt has a significant number of subscribers in North America, and I am pretty sure Lenovo's marketing team knows that.

Hey Matthew, thanks for the great video! Im eyeing this right now, its 1300 euros here with the OLED. Will there be a 2024 version? I see the yoga pro 7i 2024 (same price lo) ,but no OLED config right now. Also wondering if there will be a 16 inch alternative for this, any news? I want to use it as my dev laptop. Budget is not really a concern, I just want a comfy, high quality premium device on all fronts. Hoping there will be similar 16 inch premium laptops, with 32GB ram. I saw the IdeaPad 5 Pro Gen 9, with the new ryzen 8000 refresh for 1000 euros. Not sure about its quality though, from keyboard, chassis to fan noise, heat and sound etc. Great price though since similar core ultra is like 1200+

The webcam sound quality was fine. The webcam's image quality..., depends if during the webcam recording the place was well lit or not. If it was well lit then the webcam's image quality is barely sufficient, but i would not go as far to say decent!

I received my Yoga Slim 7 a few days ago and have sent it back. The performance is really excellent, the laptop looks great and the screen, audio and keyboard are really fantastic. But the fans run all the time and have no clear pattern. They often start up even when the laptop is doing nothing. Since I need the laptop mainly for office work, I don't need the enormous power, but a laptop that doesn't bother me even in a quiet office. So I now bought a Thinkbook 13x Gen 4, which is much quieter and covers all my needs. What a shame, because the price of the Slim 7 is really unbeatable.

I am surprised that in the Mozilla Firefox compile test is so slow. Why? Otherwise all the other results make sense given that there is no dedicated gpu.

I always enjoy your videos but I would be a little more up front about this being an ad rather than a review. I am glad that you at least said that Lenovo partnered on the video. If it were a genuine review, there would be other laptops in the comparison charts for performance and some cons would have been mentioned.

doesn't switching to a non native resolution create a distorted image? .... or have they fixed that on modern displays / graphics cards?

I foud this laptop with the same proc (r7), 16 RAM and 512 GB ssd harddrive. I can buy it, brand new for $1300 . What do you think about those specs for that price? Should I go for that value?

Hey @MatthewMoniz, you mention that it is possible to upgrade the SSD, but do you have confirmation from Lenovo that 2TB will actually work? I don't dare to buy this one as I need 2TB, but I had problems in the past with a Slim Pro when I put in a 2TB. Allegedly Lenovo offers a tad too low voltage for such large SSD's? Let me know if you have other information which clears the path to put in a 2TB SSD! Thanks mate 🙏

Actually the best thing about screen opening 180 degrees is that you can actually place it against the wall and the screen will be at your head's height. Try that and thank me later.

You spoke about the cooling fans shortly in your video but your didn't specify exactly the temperature curve of this Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 Gen 8. Do the fans kick in at 30°C or at 45°C like it is standard with other laptop manufacturers?

It's good that it offers the option for different refresh rate, down to the "normal" 60hz. Some old games have issues with going at higher refresh rates. For example the awesome favorite racing game of mine, POD by Ubisoft. The more I see the temps keeping low while the performance stays high in a laptop, the more happy I get. And indeed, while the 780M is not going to beat any high end dGPU, it's the best iGPU out there and as long as you are willing to play at around 1080p, you should be fine for most games. I say most, not all as there are some recent titles which are just unbelievably badly optimized. I admit I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one even as my main computer. Good looking and good value laptop. The only thing I would like an extra option, is orange color. But that's just me. Pity about the soldered RAM, but 32GB should be enough for a long while. OK that is indeed a cool mouse. Thanks for another very good review. There is a reason you are only one of a handful tech reviewers I subscribe to.

Does this laptop has any Screen Door effect ?I got one Lenovo Yoga 9i 8 Gen last month, but that has some annoying screen door effect . It has the same display resolution yoga slim 7 3K Screen, I did some research and found that same screen door effect present in almost all the OLED model of similar resolution.

I got the previous gen Lenovo (Yoga) Slim 7 from Costco with 1 TB of SSS storage, 32 GB of RAM, the AMD Ryzen 6800 HS CPU, and the RTX 3050 GPU plus the 3k 120 Hz screen for 1,000 USD from Costco. Given it has a very similar design to this year's model but also has two USB-C ports but also two USB-A ports (which I don't think this year's model has any), I think it's a better fit for the person who will be getting it. (My sister needs a computer that is light, has good battery life, has a headphone jack, and has USB-C with display out or HDMI. This 2022 model fits the bill, and for 1,000 USD, it appears to have been a steal!) TL;DR: If you can find last year's Yoga Slim 7, it is also a great value.

I have never seen my feed littered with so many Lenovo sponsored videos. Glad to see that creators are getting some extra income in these hard times. Solid review and looks one of the best Windows ultrabooks though it would not come close to tempting me away from my MB Air M2 which is a beast and beats this is nearly every metric. But 90% of the world are locked into the Windows monopoly so this should be in any ultrabook shortlist.

I am considering this model here in India but i am not sure if the Intel core ultra 7 155h would give the same battery life and performance as the Ryzen cpu if anyone has suggestion, please shoot as that would be very helpful for my purchase

I just got the Yoga Pro 9i last July and it is an incredibly solid laptop overall... the only thing that disappoints me is the battery life. I know that this kind of laptop prioritises performance over battery life, but I expected them to put a higher battery capacity and better optimisation there. I have to say that Lenovo Yoga series has been improving a lot recently. And I love the minimalistic (but not boring) design too.

I'd be all over it if there was a 16" version. Also, it's a shame the other models don't have the "Tidal Teal" option. Gray color option is very underwhelming and feels cheap.

Is it just me or was the MacBook Air 15's speakers better? It sounded more clearer to me.

This is a great alternative for people looking to stay in the Windows ecosystem. Prices are amazingly reasonable, even for Canada.

180 hinges are the best if youre traveling. Especially useful if youre in a tight bus, you can prop up the laptop, open to full 180 on your lap, so comfortable to use. With traditional laptops, you could never find a comfortable

I got the 7735u / 680m version which isn't much slower (I play 2077 and Bard's Tale 3 on it easily). It has some advantages as well: built in micro sdx and HDMI plus USB-A aside of 2 USB-C ... Display and battery are almost the same. It's a full fledged convertible on top.

lenovo ideapad touchpads are always off to the left side which is not only annoying asymmetrical but ugly too i mean calm on how could a big company like lenovo keep doing this design disaster over and over again its just simple symmetry

In this "Amazing Display" you failed to mention that the screen is super-reflective and would get very tricky to use outdoors or inside a room with overhead lights or windows due to all the reflections. Please don't ignore the reflectivity of screens when doing laptop reviews.

Okay, so the webcam - who cares of its 1080p; that image is horrendous. The speakers, at least on our end, don't sound even close to as good as the MBA's speakers (maybe that sounded different on your end). That 65w power brick is pretty huge for it being only 65w. And the AMD sticker guy was drunk out of his gourd when he placed that sticker. I know this varies depending on the time of day you get sticker guy to work on your particular laptop; if you get him after 2pm, forget it. But most of all, where is the nipple?? We like nipples. We have survived as a species on nipples. We expect nipples. But alas, no nipple (okay, j/k on the sticker and nipple thing obviously, but the other three things i mentioned were legitimate :)

God, I hate OLED monitors for laptops... Not as good for text, bad for white and bright pictures.
