Dismantling of Auto focus motor and about cleaning fungus formed inside camera lens AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR.
Fungus are formed by the combination of moisture and heat and normally by humid temperatures.
Try not to store cameras along with cloths.
Dismount lens and use mount caps to close while not in use to for avoiding further formation of fungus.

What effect it was having on image quality, i have same lens and it has got fungus . It has started over exposing light colours even after underexposing . I am skeptical to send to clean the fungus because ofmiss alignment . Confused should I get it clean or buy 18-55

If just the front layer lens or the lens in the mount has fungus then u can try yourself if u have the tools. But if its the lens near aperture or VR motor better look for a professional or Nikon Service center they can do it without any misalignement issues bro. 1. Service 18-140 lens and use it bro (or) 2. Get a prime lens( 35mm or 50mm) instead of 18-55mm (or) 3. this might sound crazy but if u r ok with the budget try to trade off 18-140 and get Sigma f1.8 18-35 but its based on your preference and the type of photographer you are. 4. finally Plz Get a dry box or dry cabinet to store your lens/camera if u r not using it often.

@@criticalloop thanks for reply i have 35mm dx , i will give it to service center and then see if major issue than will buy 18-55. Not want to invest heavily in dx lenses as planning to go to z series full frame next 2 to 3 years
