As an HR head of 40 years I found this madness too bizarre. I resisted for 5 years but with a function now 80% female and 20% male largely being gay - it was too much. I retired. HR had become a dumping ground for affirmative actions for decades. Now companies are paying the price. HR is now unrecognisable from what it was.

Am Indian born and educated and live in the U.K. Have travelled widely Asia Middle East Africa and have experienced more Racism in all countries than in Britain. In Africa an art gallery owner immediately deferred to the African ladies as he thought they would be signing the bill. I was ignored until I was asked for the signature to the Syrian art owners utter horror. Better to be Racist than a Islamic terrorist or thief gun totting thug murderers and people smugglers. Pls stand up and say this or write about it in the British Press. Britains have a lot more moral and ethical barometers than most nationalities. Main reason people from all over the world seek legal asylum most others illegally migrate to Britain

This is fantastic news. I'm white, I'm a man born and staying that way, I'm aspiring to be a Catholic Christian, I'm pro life, I'm heterosexual, pro truth and I respect sensible law and order. Yippee! Everyone can discriminate against me. Where do I queue for a pay out for being offended by everything that's designed to offend the overwhelming majority?

I remember when i worked for an East London council and we had to do a 2 day non discrimination notice course because 1 homeless family were placed in a house (a very nice house) in Southend on Sea. They had arrived from Bangladesh and gone straight to the homeless persons unit from Heathrow. This was at the time when local councils had taken over all the housing stock from the GLC in 1985 and it was very chaotic as the GLC stock was much larger than the local councils stock. The family accused Tower Hamlets of forgetting about them. The ombudsman ordered that all the council staff had to do the course especially the housing staff. Those of us on the course were all labelled as racist. Even though most of us hadnt worked for the council until 1987. Eventually it was found that the family had provided false documents to the British entry clearance officer in Dhaka stating that they had a house ready and waiting on a 3 year lease for them to move into. The estate agent who dealt with them was found to have issued hundreds of documents for a payment of £200 per family. He was done for fraud. You should have seen the look on the trainers face when we gave her the paperwork showing the true story. She couldnt wait to get away from us as soon as the course ended.

Inclusivity now means excluding Brits, and some councils are now effectively asking businesses to swear an oath of allegiance to one particular social group or face being boycotted. Not sure even Orwell imagined this.

We were tested at work and after all the results were in I was told to eat more foreign food and watch foreign language films in order to be more diverse. I live London and as a white British male I am now a minority in the city where I was born. How about all the foreigners start eating fish and chips and watching Carry On films to be more like me?

There needs to be a law that only "diverse" surgeons can operate on people employed in HR

I’ve mentioned this before Leo, but in Glasgow city chambers they had a cafe, and as an employee I was allowed to use it, so anyway one day I was there on the notice board, there was a big sign asking ARE YOU BLACK? why you would need to ask baffles me, you either know or don’t know, so anyway it was information about a day course regarding your ( black ) rights in the council, recognising racism, etc, but those attending or attendees? Got a full day off work, lunch was provided as was full pay. So Glasgow has been guilty of racism for a long time.

I'm a middle aged, straight, white guy. I was laid off along with my team two years ago. Every team member who ticks a diversity hire box now has a job except me, I've more experience than all of them in my field

I work at Whole Foods in the states. I had to apply multiple times over the last couple years and never got a response until I declined to answer the demographics questions, once they didn’t know I was a white person they hired me without even an interview.

I'm an HR Director and I spend most of my time fighting this nonsense, I totally reject DEI as it's divisive, regressive and damages businesses and morale. I'm exhausted from having to constantly fight to stop this insidious nonsense from poisoning everything. So stop blaming HR there are many of us fighting this it's just that you never see or hear about it, but believe me many of us are.

I work in the HR team sort of the talent team. It’s awful, they try so hard with all this DEI, complain that the stake holders are all white. Bear in mind those stake holders have been with the company 30 + years so have worked their way up from entry level. It’s such a waste of time, just hire the best candidate 🙃

It's upper middle class people who do not understand disadvantage who are causing these problems. They will not get it into their heads that most black people were not poor because of discrimination. But rather because their grand and great grand parents arrived to the UK penniless. The correct comparison therefore, isn't with white people as a whole, but with those white people whose grand and great grand parents were in the same position as the black immigrants. Then you'd have a like for like comparison. As it stands, these measures just turn poor against poor.

Totally! My former employer (a medium size multi-national) started a mentoring and development program for young new starters, which was a great idea, but was only made available to people who ticked any of the following boxes: female, person of colour, LBGTQI, disabled or a veteran. So the ONLY cohort SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDED were able-bodied straight white males who had no time in the military! This was blatantly illegal yet they promoted this as a wonderful new initiative. Just one of many of their woke initiatives which resulted in me choosing to make them by EX-employer!

A great proportion of our fellow Brits are onboard with this agenda, be them enablers or advocates.

I remember some years ago a gentleman from (I think) Pakistan who made quite a tidy sum accusing companies who he applied to join refused to give him a job, and claiming it was because of his ethnicity .

Why would anyone want a job at a company thats hired you not because of how good You are but because the law ordered them to?

Several years ago working for a company called Independence Matters (I no longer work for them!) I was in a training session and asked a question to do with self identification around trans issues and I was also vehemently attacked. My collegues in the room were aghast at the 2 trainers who had reacted so.

DEI means including minorities at the expense of the majority which is the indigenous white population of which 51% is Female, 49% is Male and 99% is Straight whilst 7% is South Asian, 4% is Afro-Caribbean or African ie Black and 1% is Gay and 0.5% is the trans. This rubbish is undermining our meritocracy whereby we hire on the basis of skill not sex, sexuality or colour this also is putting the organisations they are joining under strain as they are possibly carrying someone whom is unqualified for the job and it also puts their life at risk and that of their teammates particularly with regards to our defence organisations like the Army, but then again the left is anti military is that their goal to destroy our military with this nonsense?

If we have all these DEI people in the military and they have to fight in defence of our country what will happen? Will they actually fight or will they just throw away their weapons and run away? DEI requires the state to create a racial hierarchy, whereas based on that hierarchy, people are discriminated against, and we all know what happens over time when the State is allowed to decide who gets what based on race.

That one guy says "they're trying to redress the balance and I get that..." What he needs to get is it's never OK to discriminate on the basis of skin-tone, gender, or any innate characteristic even if they claim their intentions are good.

Couldn't agree more with this. Why can't the best person for the job get it, rather than what colour, race, religion, gender etc they are. Everyone should be treated the same and then nobody can pull the race/gender/diversity card. Pulling the card is done too often as an excuse to gain an advantage over ability.

"HR" is a nightmare. We used to have a 'Personnel Department' (manned, and sometimes womaned) by people who were just another section of the workforce. I remember when the "HUMAN RESOURCES" concept arrived in Britain from the US, the new HR Departments would employ more people and become more and more partisan. That is, siding with the Employer against the Employee in any dispute. And That's Before They Became Politicised! Now look at what we have... A department dictating to their EMPLOYERS policy.....!!!!!!

The ideology, beliefs to practices of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are fundamentally racist and discriminatory in nature. Why? Because preferential treatment is to be given to a particular person or group based on one's skin colour, ethnic group and/or sex (or nowadays gender identity). It's so sick that improvement and advancement supposedly in conjunction with meritocracy cannot be made since lesser competent or even dumb person or group of people of that type are awarded at the expense of those who are much competent and eligible.

My sister is married to a 55-year-old black guy (parents Jamaican) who was born in England. He's an engineer at Rolls Royce in Crewe. And he hates what is going on at the moment. He's never had any racial problems all his life till BLM came along and some colleagues started to apologise for slavery... one guy he's known over 20 years offered to wash his feet! He hates it all!

Take the money and run. If you get your job back, they'll find another way to fire you and then use that firing to show why they needed to appeal the settlement. Too risky.

This started 50 years ago when they brought in the compulsory use of crash helmets on motorbikes. Sieks were exempt.

HR they are now called People! 😂 They are not for the ‘People’ they are are the company. Look at their open door policy. They encourage staff to bring problems to their door….once staff do. They approach the line manager, stress them, ensure the line manager has crossed their Ts and dotted their Is, cover all bases. They then investigate and usually find in favour of the Line Manager. Seen this happen on many occasions
