@@demonzrising2545 lol fr, call me dumb but i legit thought the game was glitching when the dialogue literally said “stupidstupidstupidstupidstupidstupidstupidstupid” lmao
Leon had so much potential, he didn't even want to kill sayaka, he just broke her wrist for self defense, and he feared if he left the room, sayaka would kill someone else, so he just killed her in fear- I miss him sm..
The real monster is still Mono/Junko. While he/she wasn't the one who did the killings, it was them who took advantage of Maizno's insanity that made her become psychotic. So by that logic, she is the true culprit behind everyone's deaths, even if she didn't do the deeds herself.
Like Celeste pointed out, Leon could've just stayed in his room when Sayaka locked herself in the bathroom. But Leon chose to actively return and even brought a tool kit with him and then he chose to stab Sayaka. At first it was self defense but then it became murder
@@solrac4512 He’s not a horrible person he was panicked, I don’t blame sakaya or Leon so don’t say I have a bias. Leon was panicking and scared if she managed to break out, and people would think he assaulted her first because she was the only one with a stab wound.
@@hanadaidaiyama9090 Well she was probably gonna kill him if he didn’t kill her.- (I haven’t got to his death in the anime but Im pretty sure that’s what was happening-)
I can agree, Sayaka did try to kill him, I admit finishing it and killing her instead of leaving the room and telling the others was stupid, but he still didn't deserve to die for what was essentially self defence
I got so sad when *SPOILERS* mondo died and taka died. This was actually the first show that actually made me care for the “rule breaker biker guy” and “goodie tu shoes.” Seriously my guys :(.
Spoilers for the other two games in edit. Man, why didn't Danganronpa write other characters that feared getting caught for their LIVES like this? No other character was as afraid of being executed as Leon. EDIT: The following responds to the contradiction to my point, referring to other characters. Kirumi wasn't afraid of her death, she saw her life as a necessity. It was selfless, and she seems like the kind of person who would drop dead for the outside world. Teruteru admittedly DID seem scared at first, but I think that the fear for his life was overpowered by his other emotions. "I'm not asking for forgiveness anymore- just tell me what happened to mama!" At that point, he seemed like he was willing to accept dying, he just wanted answers. Korekiyo...what? He showed no signs of fear at all. He's among those who willingly accepted their deaths, especially since it meant he would be with his sister.
I think that's because when he killer her, none of them knew about the trial aspect, it was basically a surprise thrown into the ring. They knew they had to get away with it, but i dont think it was clear that getting caught would lead to execution. Everyone else afterwards acted with that knowledge.
Raditz, Bellamy, and now Leon. Justin Cook really does have a knack for voicing characters that either die or become defeated and irrelevant shortly after their introduction.
I find it funny how some people in the comments are saying "He could've just left" as if Sayaka wouldn't have framed him, claiming he attacked her first or target him again lmao. Who do think they'll believe? Some jock who's good at baseball or an "innocent" pop idol?
But then again why would someone lie about someone attacking them? If Leon was lying then he wouldn't gain anything right? Plus they could've investigated it and see who was really telling the truth. That's just my thought process
@@S0n1CRul35 True but while in class trials their lives are literally on the line, being forced to investigate or else. I feel like they wouldnt look deep into attempted murder since they're always arguing either way Theyd probably just be like "wow leon's dangerous let's avoid him/ lock him away" like with Nagito Either way it's a fucked situation
@@walterwhitecookingchannel8912 ok, there’s a major difference between Leon and Nagito. Nagito actively tried to kill someone and got 2 people killed due to his actions, all while happily expressing it, rambling about hope and overall being… Nagito. Leon isn’t nearly as crazy, and if he walked away, nobody would’ve died, and they wouldn’t have tied him up considering they would’ve been more likely to have a civil discussion as Leon was trying to defend himself. And really, he could’ve just walked away and told everyone about Sayaka. He’d even have evidence through the note Sayaka gave him.
Regarding the debate about whether or not he murdered Sayaka. He did. He didn’t have to go back to murder her in the bathroom. He chose that, and it was a stupid decision of him. However, I will say, idk what else he would’ve done. If you almost got murdered by a teenage girl pop idol, in the heat of the confusing moment, you might kill her, especially in a situation like a killing game. While I think he should’ve stayed back, who knows what would’ve happened if he did. I bet you Sayaka would lie, and say she never tried to murder him, and that he tried to murder her. The rest of the class would then probably tie him up like Nagito after the first trial in DR2. So, as much as he DID consciously murder Sayaka, I don’t know what else anyone would’ve done in a moment like that in a situation like that
Not to mention the fact that he didn’t know he would get executed if he was proven guilty (in the game, at least). That completely manipulated his decision.
Tyneside is a bitch in the situation because if he didn't do anything and just went back or alerted everyone to what happened her deception would have gotten exposed very quickly. When the room switch and her reasoning for why she wanted to switch rooms gets talked about. Then the fact that she purposely switched the nameplates which which would cause a major suspicion on the reason she gave to makoto. Then when you add the letter that Leon received it makes hair look super guilty or trying something and lastly the fact that she was seen bringing a weapon by Sakura and Aoi. I don't doubt that after a bit of Investigation her murder attempt would have definitely been proven.
1:43 Bro his scream of fear gives me chills more than anything else in the entire Danganronpa universe. I will never stop getting chills from this. I really wish we got to see more of Leon.
Here’s a detail I noticed here: When the shot goes to Leon’s palm before he’s rapidly dragged away, his fingers move out toward the audience more in contrast to the game where his hand is entirely still. I think this just emphasizes his fear regarding what’s happening and shows his last hope that, somehow, he would be saved from the brutal execution he was about to face. Kudos to both the game, the anime, and Leon’s VA for making me feel even more sorry for him (despite the fact that he murdered Sayaka; that girl was my favorite aside from Hina and Sakura)
Its also because these are different art styles. The game is in a 2d sprite style so the entire character or only one part moves at a time. Here, the animation is more life-like and fluid
This execution hurt so much bro this cut me deep it just penetrated my soul the voice actor is the one who voiced one of my husbands Kirishima😭😭😭😭 but either way this dude was my favorite from the beginning
It wasn’t. He left the room and went out of his way to grab his screwdriver and come back. If it was self defense he would’ve just left her after she was in the bathroom 🤷🏼♀️
@@murderprncss in the manga, he actually just grabbed the knife to not just leave it here, and went in the bathroom to try to calm her down, but she panicked because she thought he was gonna kill her, and impaled herself on the knife by accident
I love the little touches the anime does like Leon reaching is hand out and how at first kyoko is so pissed at him at first when starting at him and how the anime looks more bleak and how everyone staring beginning to end and how dark this is. Gives me hella chills
I like how calm Monokuma sounded in the beginning. “Whose the guilty so-and-so?” Also; It was self defense, but it became murder as soon as Sayaka was stuck in the bathroom and he killed her. He chose to *stab* her. Thats murder. He could have ran away. I feel no sympathy for Leon in that part: Sayaka targetting him? Yes, him breaking the door down to kill her? No. He chose to kill her.
I love how you say all this bullshit in your comment when in reality if you were in a real killing game you would’ve did the same damn thing he did, y’all love to be hypocrites till you’re in the situation What leon did was disgusting and horrible and I can’t forgive him for what he did. but Sayaka is not innocent either she tried to murder him in the first place and the reason why he broke back into The room to kill her was not because he was just trying to be a bitch if you fully understood what happened then be a big dick about the situation you would know why he went into the room and killed her, at that point it wasn’t self-defense but he did it because he knew if he left her to die she would’ve got healed either way and tried to go back and kill him or be an asswipe and snitch on him to the other classmates to get him executed & before you be like Sayaka would not go that hard to do that while if you actually watched or played the game you would know that she was in over her head and she would literally do anything just to get the fuck out of that garbage disposal of a school, it pisses me off when y’all sit there and bash Leon for being a heartless murderer when all of y’all and I mean all of you guys would do the same damn thing, he wanted to change he had character development & he would’ve had more if the stupid ass developers didn’t kill him off in the first fucking chapter and they did it for a selfish reason to.
@@jjrocks9960 how would Leon even get executed if Sayaka didn’t die? Sure, he injured her, but no where in the rules does it say “if you Injure a classmate a trial will be held and you’ll be punished”. That would be exceedingly unfair, as the person who was injured would have to participate as they’re still alive and easily get their attacker executed
He was was a paranoid guy from the get-go, so I can completely understand why he went back and finished the job. He panicked and assumed it was her or him, if he didn't kill her she would shoot her shot again. And for all intents and purposes, he knew he hit her, not that he broke her wrist. As well, picture this. If he didn't go back and kill her. Next morning, Sayaka switched the plates back. Spins a story about Leon. No matter the evidence, everyone's more likely to believe a pop star than a grunge-looking baseball player. Next target? Him. That was most likely his thought process there, so whether she attacked him again the night of or someone else tried to kill him to avenge Sayaka, he was dead either way in his head. To us, it's ludicrous. But to him, in that moment, it indeed was self-defense, for both the immediate moment and the future
This was absaloutly heartbreaking, It was self-defense and he was also killed in the most brutal way possible. He was honestly my favorite, If I was there Id comfort him in the best way possible.
Wow, so when I first got in to the anime, I didn't really think it was gonna be as special but wow...when I literally saw how Leon was about to get executed, the whole animation changed and it literally pulled me in to the anime more. Wow. Listen...let's be real, it was self defense at first until he decided to chase after her and kill her. But look, none of them really had a choice so I mean-
MAN LET ME GIVE HIM A HUG THE BIGGEST HUG EVER PLSSSSS IT'S TOO GENUINE THE VOICE THE CONTEXT THE ACTIONS THE EMOTION IT'S TOO REAL I'VE GOT GENUINE CHILLS 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
i actually feel really bad for him now cause i thought it was leon's fault but it was sayaka's fault cause sayaka tried to kill him and leon tried self defence
Sayaka was asking for it, but Celestia made a good point in the game - he had every chance to not go after her but he broke the door down then stabbed her.
Sayaka could’ve lied and told everyone to be cautious of him and turn on him because he attacked her. who are they gonna believe? the oh-so arrogant baseball kid, or the cute and adorable pop idol maiden that can never do harm?
The worst part is even if Sayaka did kill leon, she would have still blamed Mokota for it and gaslight everyone with crocodile tears to vote for him. Even with the reason I think she wouldn’t be forgiven.
I can't believe how much better the anime is then the game! I'm just now replaying the game and got done with Leons trial and this is so much better then him saying stupid 100 times!
So yes, it was self defense but because he chased her down it made it not self defense anymore. Which is sad ;(( if he just stopped after he broke her wrist, it would've been self defense and he wouldn't have died.
Hold it! Leon probably did it either in the mindset of 1,oh god she’s going to come back and finish me off in the night or 2,crap she could kill someone else got to kill her to protect the others and he probably just used self defense as the reson just like how sometimes I’m in a justifiable mindset for a mistake but say the reson as somthing eles
ok but when they showed his dead body and with the voice vocalizing in the background, it gave me chills and that's when I knew that this anime/game isn't fucking around with us
I also Noticed a detail:When leon was being dragged to his execution a text "GO OUTSIDE" pop's up indicating the game's trying to tell leon to leave before it's to late
@@thedangernoodleboi9847haha I thought it was my brother texting me saying go to sleep lol I got scared (yes Ik I am responding to a 2 year old comment
i've been hit with several baseballs, once in the stomach, and once when a baseball rolled across the floor and hit me in the ankle. both times hurt like crazy so i can only imagine how much pain leon must have been in while getting shot with 1000 of them at top speed
I felt so bad for him he only did what was right for him to survive but only ended up being killed as well I felt so bad for him he didn’t deserve that :(
rest in peace Leon the fact that they eliminated him purely because they drew him a lot and got tired of it really annoys me he was probably the coolest character
This HAD to be the most BRUTAL death in Trigger Happy Havoc and they were right to make it the first one for the shock value, and this also has the closest to red blood instead of purplish pink.
notice how on his shirt the skull has blood signifying a blow to the head he died from blunt force trauma to the HEAD, his death was probably the most realistic and most painful one ever
I’m pretty sure that in the games, Monokuma actually does give an explanation of why he doesn’t see it as self-defense, saying that Leon had the option to just leave after she’d been incapacitated, and that because he followed through with it, it counted as murder. Meanwhile, here it seems to be very likely that it truly was self-defense, and Monokuma straight up doesn’t care lol. And honestly, both approaches have merit. I actually originally started typing this thinking the anime version was just straight up better. It was more concise, and didn’t interfere with the story much at all. But then I recalled something that I actually really liked about the game version, that being how it give more moral ambiguity to Leon’s actions. It’s largely left up to interpretation whether he was guilty or not, and I felt like those conflicting feelings gave the sequence a lot of impact. While the anime’s version might sacrifice some of that, I felt like it improved several other areas. For one thing, the way they wrote it here was a lot more efficient. The game’s dialogue has a tendency to ramble, and while a game can usual get away with that, in an show, you have to be a lot more mindful about the amount of time you’re taking. So instead of giving us a lengthy explanation of why Leon deserved his punishment, Monokuma just says “Who cares if he deserves it? He did the thing!” I dont recall if the game explicitly mentioned self-defense being allowed, but in any case, it doesn’t hurt the story to just not have that be a rule in the anime. If I racked my brain, I could probably come up with a few more things in favor of either side, but I’ve already written WAY too much, something I suppose I have in common with the games’ writers. Sorry!
First time watching the anime my jaw dropped in shock. My eyebrows were raised off my head or some sh. His breaking voice is so heart breaking, and the way he cries and screams, walking backwards trying to justify his actions. The way everybody stared at him in dissapointment at the very start. His screams ring terrifyingly. His terrified smile at the very start of his execution The way, every time a ball hits him the score goes up, you see the rapid change in score. The tinge of purple and gray shading under his hairline. His screams, silenced by the horrifying throbbing music. 1:20 sounds like when you are crying and screaming at your parents and they catch you out, and you realised your mistake so blatantly, as you realise you are going to get punished. All in all, his death was so sad and brutal and this scene is one of my favourites due to the emotion portrayed by such specific movements, these are all of my notes from such a short video so I hope you enjoyed the details put into! I rate Leons character an 8/10 due to the way he behaves in situations, being realistic, and his execution a 10/10, it was a crazy way to start the series off, and must have been so painful. Got me excited for the rest! R.I.P Leon and Sayaka. I didn't like Sayaka AT ALL but anyways-
Like just imagine knowing your about to experience a painful death. this is your last day on earth, all you could do is scream for help and pray, but it’s to late for that.
