The invitation was from a group involved in experimental physics which is Leonard's area. Sheldon's is theoretical. For those people who argue that Sheldon doesn't know he is being hurtful, this scene should prove he absolutely does know, and is quite deliberate in demeaning and insulting the person who is supposed to be his friend. Sheldon is a completely selfish jerk.

@@JWheel5 I personally felt that the series finale was quite disingenuous. At that time, Sheldon was nearly 40 years old. It is highly unlikely that after 40 years of mean-spirited, insulting and demeaning behavior, that a 3 minute conversation with Amy would cause a complete turnaround. More likely, he gave in because he was in danger of losing his personal cheering section in the audience at the ceremony which would embarrass him. He said the right words, but did his newfound humility stay with him once they returned home?

They say Sheldon is smart and as a kid he says he was beaten up by other kids because of how he spoke and yet here he is being just as rude. I don't think he is that smart at all.
@rocketmom60
@rocketmom60 7 месяцев назад
Six seasons of Young Sheldon show that he was not beaten up. The only person who bullied him was little Bobbie Sparks, the neighbor girl who was much younger and significantly smaller than Sheldon and she was only on the show the first season. In fact, Sheldon was shown as a bully to other students by reporting them to teachers for violations of the student handbook (i.e. an earlier version of the roommate agreement) which would get him special favors from the teachers. He also hired the school's biggest bully to actually intimidate Georgie, his brother, into letting Sheldon get his way at home.
@user-mt9de5wt5y
@user-mt9de5wt5y 7 месяцев назад
@@rocketmom60 his stories as an adult about being stuffed into lockers and hit by other kids. On young Sheldon he mentions it when Missy punches the kid in Sunday school and she hurt her hand and said they never said it hurt on TV and Sheldon said try being the punchee LOL. So yeah he was bullied but by the time the show was on it was all about rattling each other out and how any kind ragging on a person was seen as abuse and it was in most places and in Hollywood shunned upon.
@rocketmom60
@rocketmom60 7 месяцев назад
@@user-mt9de5wt5y I remember that scene but there is never anything on the show that indicates this is true, other than him wearing bubble wrap under his clothes to avoid the previously mentioned Bobbie Sparks. There is no scene where he ends up with bruises, or complains to his parents or the school faculty about being beaten up. In fact, he is a bully himself when he tattles on other students violating the student handbook - a precursor to his beloved roommate agreement - and he hires one of the school's biggest bullies to intimidate Georgie Jr. in order to make Georgie let him have his way at home.
@user-mt9de5wt5y

And if this was the 80's and not 2024 he would have been bullied but all the softies out there would lose their collective mind if he did now. I find this completely interesting after knowing about Young Sheldon. Surely this letter would have been addressed to BOTH Sheldon C and Leonard H. Meaning it was both of theirs. 1) Sheldon reading and then throwing away a letter that is still addressed to Leonard would have been a destruction of governmental property, which goes against Sheldon's Code of Sheldon. 2) Sheldon is well versed on letters addressed to multiple parties when the letter inviting him to college in Pasadena was addressed to the Parents of Sheldon Cooper. 3) I just want to point out while Sheldon was going on to Leonard about "throwing him a bone" and all that, he did not once fuss at Raj for sitting in his spot.
@rocketmom60

Sheldon has no problem committing criminal acts when it achieves what he wants. He stole the movie reel from the theater when it was showing the extended version of Indiana Jones (I think) and he realized he was too far back in the line to get a ticket. Then he committed criminal blackmail against Priya when he wanted to get Leonard to sign a new roommate agreement. He also disrupted power to the entire apartment building when he again wanted to force Leonard into signing a new agreement. I believe he also hacked into the government's computer system to try to obtain some illegal element (I think uranium). Sheldon will do anything he wants if it gets him his way.
