Boy does Elvis know what he liked!!!! The cole slaw is something I would like cause it's vinegar, mayonnaise and mustard base. The ribs are wet my favorite!!! John Need papertowels!!!! The Big Leonard looks so good!!! Bobbie you enjoyed the spaghetti and roll must have been so good that looked good! Loretta 's lemon ice box pie was incredible. So light and delicious I bet!!! She was such a friendly hostess/ manager. Food reminds me of The Hickory Pit on Main St. IN Evansville We have alot of resteraunts in the city plus resteraunt chains. Love hotels there as well.

What a fantastic looking place. The food was making my mouth water! I thought the prices were very affordable, and considering what the portions looked like, definitely a bargain. John, I wish you would have given us a peek at "messy Bobbie". Sne always looks so perfect, a little BBQ sauce on her hands would have made her seem like us normal slobs! Leonard's is Great. Memphis has some Great BBQ. Slaw is great. It's good for your gut plus vinegar cuts the fat. Not everybody like it too vinegary, but why not try it. It only make the BBQ taste better Glad you and Bobbi tried it.👍🙂. We have good BBQ in Ga too. Andrew and I love going to Tennessee to visit my sister and brother-in-law.we know if they are not fixing it. Oh we are going to Memphis. I wasn't sure about the spaghetti but we enjoyed it. 1 one the best reasons to visit Memphis tn is the food, I’m from uk and just love the food in Memphis.

Imo Memphis is well worth a 3-4 day trip just as a food tour! Even if you aren't a bbq fan there is sooo much to chose from. Out of this world food trucks-oh my gosh!!!!! The soul food restaurants are outstanding too! Love it when y'all go to Memphis because you always share places I know I would love. Can't wait to go back.

I hope the management reads this. I have been a regular customer since I ate at the Bellevue/McLemore, and am thrilled to hear that Leonard’s is open AGAIN. When I ate at the Bellevue, and earlier days of the Plaza restaurant, I would like to give you something that I specificially remember about Leonard’s @ both of the Leonard’s that I ate at. The sandwiches were always full of good BBQ meat , Slaw and Sauce, but I was ALWAYS able to eat them like a sandwich, without getting BBQ on. Me, in the floor, and on the table. When Corkeys came to Memphis, they loaded so much BBQ, sauce etc on the bun, that it made the bun soft and mushy, and mess everywhere. To me, it was hard to taste the flavor of the sauce and the meat, and I became less fond of BBQ. I know. All you employees, manager etc remember how the old sandwiches were served, -- you could easily hold them, got the full flavor of the sandwich and didn’t lose half of your sandwich to the floor, or your lap, and no soggy bun. My husband used to get two sandwiches and I’d get one regular, everything stayed neat and appetitizing. I didn’t know y’all were open, so when I found out, I looked you up on the internet, and was a little disapointed to see you were following the NEW trend of humongous BBQ sandwiches just like all the newcomers to Memphis. Everybody complains about them except the big sloppy eaters. My suggestion, is ----could you have a BBQ sandwich option, called the “Memphis original” with a nice layer of BBQ meat, chopped like the original, with slaw and sauce, and. Neat where you could actually eat it LIKE a Sandwich. You could charge less, and there would be men who would order2. The ladies would all encourage their husbands to meander over to the original Leonard’s PIT BBQ. And, You can still serve the big sloppy messy sandwiches,too. Or you could just advertise this as a Ladies’ BBQ, and we would be thrilled, and spread the word! Don’t copy the crowd. You can’t fix perfect, ( what Mr Leonard started back in 1922) You can still serve the sloppy version, but we females would love to see the original BBQ served again, about 1/2 the amount of meat, plenty sauce and slaw on a nice bun, that actually “ stays a bun” call it The original Leonard’s BBQ or Ladies BBQ. We will lovingly support and spread the word!!! DONT COPY THEM!!!!!!!

John if you ain’t a mess you didn’t eat real BBQ! OMG everything looks incredible! Of course Elvis ate there!! I need to find the recipe for that coleslaw it is the most incredible looking slaw I’ve seen and I am a coleslaw connoisseur!! You guys are so lucky getting to share these experiences together! I remember eating at the location on Bellevue as a child. Black patrons had to go through a side door to get carryout. I didn't understand it at the time. I just knew I loved the BBQ.

I love lots of BBQ sauce on my ribs and pulled pork so those meals looked delicious. The prices were very reasonable too. That’s definitely finger lickin good BBQ…whatever is left on your fingers is a late night snack…lol.

Good morning John and Bobby I have eaten at Leonard's barbecue many times mostly back in the late 90s an early 2000 when I was working for the Ironworkers local Union put up a few high-rise buildings up there and that would be our place to go eat on Friday's if it ain't messy it ain't good enjoy the video till next time take care

We went to Leonard's several years ago. The food was really good. You guys need to come to North Alabama to try OUR BBQ! It's awesome. Love the video! :)

I've been going to Leonard's bbq for over 40 years ( from its original location near downtown). Too bad you guys didn't get to experience the AYCE BBQ buffet it was spectacular!! The business sold several years ago and I was happy to see the new owners keep it open for now.

I always enjoy seeing places where Elvis ate.

Unsure if I would try it. Thanks for video and information. I am wondering why they are only offering take out at this time. I too would prefer to dine in. Safe driving in Memphis. I have driven to Memphis and stayed overnight there once and freeway was pretty scary.

If you're gonna eat ribs, it is going to be messy! I kind of teared up when Loretta talked about Elvis (and also at the end, Lisa Marie). I feel bad too that he couldn't even go out to his fave place to eat because fans just wouldn't let him be. That has to be really isolating and lonely. I was wondering - did the ribs have a lot of meat on them? While tender looking, they also looked a bit sparse. About how long does it take driving from home to Memphis and Pigeon Forge? I bet you have some laughs and good talks on those trips together!

I ate at the original Leonard's on Bellevue many times over the years. I don't remember when they moved but I have never been to their new location. And of course Elvis ate there, it was right up the road a few miles from his house. This area used to be THE place to be with Leonards, Pancho's, Colettas, Vannucci's, the Bellevue Drive In. It's sad to see it in such a state of disrepair and dilipidation.

Your observations about the road conditions there in Memphis are spot on, worst and most dangerous drivers in America. But the barbecue is good there.

By the way when you held it up to show us how large it was I did a screenshit of it and when I went back to look at the image , there at the top of the sandwich is an image of a pigs head,lol! I remember a family holiday we took once to Australia where we ended up at a pork rib joint so good that us kids ended up with joker like smiles ,and it's the only time ever that mum didn't insist we clean up immediately 😂she was to busy getting down 😅so good ❤🇳🇿... mum's best friend Lavonne was married to a fella named ray Columbus,he had a band named the invaders please enjoy their song "till we kissed" if you get a chance 😊 let me know if you like it ❤️

The Cole slaw looked different

The BEST BBQ, SLAW, RIBS in Memphis. I'm glad they moved from Fox Plaza. I'll miss that place but it was bad for their business. And the catfish can't forget the CATFISH! Should have been there for the buffet. It was a masterpiece.

When you were trying this spaghetti I was wondering if they had added the meat drippings from the pit area? I've seen that before and I think that it looks delicious! Normally just one meal cost what you guys paid for two, that is really something that they are so honest and fair with their prices that they realize people don't have a lot of money to pay hiked up prices!
