Bro when I first watched this, the first 4 mins had leo complement Mikey with 'badass mystic warrior', Mikey friggen disintegrates into light shards, and Leo ceases to exist after throwing a traumatized Casey through a portal Then it cuts straight to Leo being Leo- bro I love this movie lmfao-
Rise Tmnt is so underrated and overlooked it's unfair for such a great plot, great writen characters, great details, great art style, great animation, great designs... All what people see is that it's bad because Leo's personality changed even though this change was to make him have character development...
God this movie is just incredible, haven't felt this way about an animated movie since spiderverse. Also, it's casey jones JR*, small but common mistake. Rise's iteration of casey jones is cassandra, casey jr is rise's iteration of jr from the last ronin comics.
I watched the movie (again) today and noticed he does a tually have Raph and Donnie's bandanas on his katana handle. I thought it was a fan thing, but its an actual detail in the movie. Words cannot express what that tiny detail does to me, its so sad and sweet, he always has his brothers next to him in battle no matter what. Now if youll excuse me im gonna go cry myself to sleep.
How the duck did I not see that! I thought he died off-screen!!! 😭😭 WTF this makes the move so much sadder!!! I never noticed that red beam and how it was shot at him, how could I never notice?!! Thank you SM for making this short so I could learn about it! 🙏🏻
Two things this movie did right: 1) it gave us the best animated version of Casey Jones I've ever seen, 2) it gave Rise Leo the character development he should've gotten from the start! Before this movie, Rise Leo was the worst animated version of the character I had ever seen (now the worst is Dan Green's 1987 Leonardo from "Turtles Forever").
Nickelodeon: Okay, so this movie is suitable for the ages of 7+! Employee: But... there's blood in the first few minutes of the- Nickelodeon: THIS MOVIE is suitable for the age of 7+!!
I like to think he wears it as a way of keeping Raph at his side even in death. He has Raph and Donnie's masks tied around his sword too, and the original draft of the scene showed that he also held onto their shells. But yeah, there's no explanation given in-universe
