Barry McDaniel was not really an Italian-type baritone, but he gives a fairly convincing impersonation of one in this evergreen classic from Ruggero Leoncavallo's opera "Zazá".
The gipsy girl Zazá is the singing star of Cascart's Café Concert in St Etienne. She loves her co-star, the singer Milio, but has just found out to her dismay that he is happily married and father of a daughter. Her boss Cascart tries to comfort her, pointing out that it may all be for the best.
