Just stumbled across this. Without a doubt Prince is my favorite artist of All-Time, and I'm a Minnesotan like he was. Thought I would hate this, man was I wrong! What a cool tribute, well played guys!
As a die-hard Prince fan, I wasn't sure I would like this, but I did. It gave me chills. I think he would appreciate all of the musicianship that went into this.
Respect! This is a classic example of the talent Prince possessed. He was a musical genius and his original version is of course the best but these guys did one Hell of a job with an incredible song! Great job fellas, I think Prince would agree.
This song has a lot of pointacy, it was written by a genius, he wrote a lots this one is the one that everyone associates a signature tune, Prince, now back when this was on the charts, I was working on a Xtra gang, on the railroad, we worked for this foreman that we called Johnny Bull, rough tuff but a good man, we were riding in after work, he was singing this while driving in, I didn't say a word, just listened , I became a fan of Prince.
Friggin outstanding! Music has been my drug of choice for 73+ years (enjoyed it for 9 mos. in the womb) so I’m a well seasoned critic and you guys kick ass on this song. The brother at the end brings out the black in be and I’m white. 😏
Bluesgrassy ;) ... not bad at all. Prince had a positive effect on all musical genres - I love listening to all he has written and people have performed ....
I LOVE this AMAZING interpretation of Purple Rain. Brilliantly done!!! Just shows that people can totally interpret a classic song and give them a completely different perspective but still genuinely give proper homage to the original!!!
Hats off, guys...to take one of the most iconic songs in popular culture and OWN IT, you have my respect. It could very well be just me, but the percussion here conjures up "Fire Lake" by Bob Seger...
A cover like this and Dwight Yoakam's make perfect sense. It started out as a country song. google "How we made Prince's Purple Rain" Interviews by Michael Hann for The Guardian. Prince played keys on Stevie Nick's Stand Back. Then gave her a 10 minute instrumental. Asked her to write lyrics. She was intimidated by it so turned it down. He let the Revolution play around with it after rehearsals. Wendy played the first few chords and dragged them out. Then they mixed genres for the rest of the song for 6 hrs. There's a reason it was called Prince and the Revolution. He certainly was the driving force but he let them have their input. Dr. Fink his lead keyboard player said the song Delirious came out of playing Elvis and rockabilly songs in rehearsals. Dr. Fink has a classical and jazz piano training and played with him for about 10yrs. ; )
Woahoooo!!! je vous kiffe grave!!! vous êtes merveilleux!!! bons baisers de Normandie. (what does approximatly means: "I really like you, you are wonderful, good kisses from Normandy"
