As an Arab from who doesn't understand a word from this song but who have grown up listening to it (grew up in the 90's),I do appreciate the mix of genres between the modern rock music and the ancient lingo.
Djamel sabri who is the vocal of the algerian chaoui rock band "les berbères" gave the local music style "chaoui" anorher dimension using western pattern "rock" meanwhile, he keep singing with chaoui words that express all the feelings related to the daily life. He sings about Hope, land, women...etc. He is a brave dude because he wanted his words to be heard by all people especially during the algerian civil War in 90's. Djamel Sabri is one of the most underrated Algerian singers. And i believe that if he wasn't Chawi he would have a carrier more than this. Not because of the language. It is because of that Algerian people don't care a lot about its Chawi artists. And you can say all Algerian Artists in general. And the proof is that every artist that left Algeria has succeed in his career, and i mean people like Cheb Khaled, Mami, Soolking, Algerino ...etc It's always the government's fault for not supporting young talented artists until they lose their passion.

Hi dear Since you mentioned the Arabic language, let me explain a few things. The words you hear in this song are not Arabic words, they are Chawi words. The Chawi (or Ichawiyen) are Algerians from Berber origin and culture (also known as Imazighen). The main geographical landmark of the Chawis are the Aures mountains. The other big group of Imazighen are the so-called Kabyles. So to come back to the song, the lyrics are in Chawi, the ancestral language of the region. Of course Arabic exists in Algeria and it is even the official language. It is essentially used in the administrations and in all official communications, for example those of the government. French is also widely used. And a very large number of Algerians also speak English (especially the younger generations). But the most spoken language in Algeria and the one that almost everyone understands is simply "Algerian". It is typical of Algeria and does not really have a strict equivalent elsewhere. And this language was formed from all the cultures that, through the centuries, have lived in one way or another on Algerian soil. So the language of the Algerian of every day, it's this language which was formed with time, and which includes many words whose etymology is Arabic, but also Berber with its various derivatives, as well as French and Spanish (also for historical reasons). And I'm adding something to finish. The "Touaregs" that you probably know, are also Berbers from the Sahara, in the south of Algeria and the bordering countries. They are the Kel Tamajeq. Of course, this is not a reproach, I'm just giving you some sociolinguistic explanations. Where the name of the band : The BERBERS or Les Berberes ! Of course, you can hear that it can sound a little bit like Arab language since a big influence from imposing the Arab language in North Africa since the Islamic invasion, has introduced few words in the Berber language! Berberes (originaly Amazighen) are the original populations of Algeria, Marocco and Tunisia before Islam comes with arabs. The song language is a berbere language called Chawi and spoken in the Aures region (Est of Algeria). I'm from this region and know that the singer Jamel ("Joe") is a big fan of big names of american RnRoll. He was the first "mediatic" singer of the chawi songs (traditional and modern). This nice song reminds me of the recent past. I used to enjoy listening to it even though I do not understand the meaning of the words... Algeria has many dialects other than languages... The strangest thing is that I found you interacting with it as if you are an Algerian who understands our nature and rituals that the sun of civilization has not yet risen on 👏😁
Les berbères means the berbers in French.refers to one of the first inhabitants of north Africa kinda like the Indians of America (and they inhabited north Africa wayyy before Arabs ,what you hear isn't arabic ,it's one of the many dialects called CHAWI (SHAWI) derived from root Amazigh

Dear John. This is not arabic. This is called. Barber language. It was used before the islamic arab conquest to north africa. Till now they use this language in some algerian areas. As an arab. like u i did not understand any word even iam algerian. Big salam brother.

Amel Brahim Jelloul and a group of musician to honored him by performing one of his beautiful songs "AJEGGIG" meaning a flower 🌸, the song is in kabyle language which is one of the Amazigh, or berber languages, and the music video has English translation.
