Where I got caught and then found out sometimes the new replacement valve is longer that the old broken one. I didnt know you should measure the new one to correct size. Then I tapered (beveled) the cut end to remove any sharp edges.

Hey is your valve scratching a bit on a side the port in witch hammer is traveling during cocking?

FYI, I realized that my valve slightly went out from this plastic part (like 1.5mm), I've pushed it back into the plastic - as of now its not falling off, but I'm not sure if that fact means its already broken and will have to be replaced. Of course the reason it happened was most likely I had hammer string set too high - as I was not aware you could do it. I was trying to increase it and measure searching for peak velocity but before I get there I experienced a problem as gun fired on its own as soon as I closed the cocking handle. Fortunately it was pointing already in safe direction (not so much for the chrono that get shot with 31gr slug at 277 m/s or 810fps). What happened is that this lever that cocks the hammmer spring by sliding on the handle skewed and was not traveling hammer spring enough back to lock it onto trigger mechanism. As soon as I closed the gun it was going off - fully replicable. I've ordered that peace for replacement and also opened up the gun to see if there are any other damages. So, that pin of the valve moved slightly out of its sitting and that also caused it scratching/pinching the port in which the hammer is travelling. As I understand this is most likely only cosmetic damage as it doesn't have to be sealed etc. Its just the hammer flying and slamming the valve. Still approx 0.5-1mm dent is there now. I'm a bit worried now how much hammer spring is too much. I went back to 0 setting (all in) and started from +5 and went up to 15 and still no peak and I'm worried to try even harder. I tuned the reg for approx. 140-155 bar - not sure how much transfer port allows to travel before becoming a chocke point - but typically most PCPs will allow you to go 160-180 before that becomes a problem. I'm trying to push 31gr .25 HN Grizzly slugs at 920-980fps. I don't have regulator measurments, I assumed the default setting was 130bar (its a reg without any markings, so one of the old ones/first, but hammer is with re-designed shape). I tried with default reg settings (assumed 130bar) and was increasing hammer waiting for the peak. I managed to get just slightly below 820fps without any peak and the gun started to shoot itself. I don't know how many click it was. I decided to try with higher bars, like eyeballed it to 145-155bar via turning it 90 degrees and then back 30 degrees - so in the end 60. Started with 5 clicks from 0 and it didn't push the slug from the barrel, I ended up with +15 clicks with 223fps and stopped at this point as being scared that I will over tension the hammer again. I was hoping that I could increase the reg but keep the valve open for short period with small hammer spring tension. I don't know what is the max operating pressure for this regulator at which this gun can still hammer the valve and make it work (I know the minimal is 90 or it locks itself, also that if you dry fire it or the pressure will be below 90 you can damage the valve due to hammer as it won't be giving any resistance). However, is this gun able to be safely shot at reg 150 and I'm okay to tension the spring? At what point things are too much for it? I'm surprised there is no safety range, tolerances for spring hammer in this gun - to the point that you can tension it so much that it can damage the cocking lever and band it and cause it to shoot itself!

why the valve is not almost of metal ?
@edgunwestLLC
@edgunwestLLC 2 года назад
because a light valve is easier to close, thus making them more efficient , FYI, metal can break too, many firing pins have been replaced on my firearms over the years, they are metal
