I could listen to her talk all day and night long.... she is graced with the most wonderful voice ever, be it singing or just speaking...had the most awesome crush on her growing up....
It's like velvet...there's never been anyone else who sounded like her. She could make any song interesting, but when she got hold of one worthy of her voice, look out.
The batman episode with Julie Newmar and Leslie gore is one of favorites, when they kidnapped him catwomen tells her henchmen to hide Robin in a room in their cat layer, on the door there's a big sign that reads do not disturb Robin's sleeping,
Lesley appeared on this episode of Mike Douglas on January 10, 1967. Her Pussycat episode on Batman was originally broadcast on January 19, 1967, and included these classic lines. Pussycat : I wanna be alone with you, Robin. Robin : Alone with me? But why? Pussycat : I can see a very important part of your education has been grossly neglected.
Thank you so much for posting this terrific clip featuring Lesley's '67 performance of her hit, "California Nights"! Just so great to see this again after so many years.
Thanks to the idiots at Mercury Records that shelved her 1967 *Magic Colors* album for DECADES... Since it's release, it's regarded as a classic--the album that could have saved her career!
It's really nice to find a clip with an interview and a song, and hearing Lesley talk about her castmates and the producer/writer. Glad I found this video. I always found "Pussycat" to be a fun addition to that episode of the Batman show, even though Julie towered over her.
How great to see this - I have seen her in person many times, but finding early appearances is not so easy - I only recall seeing her lip sync this on BATMAN and then, very shortly after that it was a big Hit. Lesley deserved more hits, and she continued to record interesting records, but times were changing and pop music was getting a Harder edge to it - nevertheless she was a solid singer and I wish she was still with us ~
The record company shelved her 1967 *Magic Colors* album for DECADES. But since it's been released, it's regarded as a classic--as the album that could have saved her career!
I wasn't HER that was uncomfortable with it. You can tell here she was totally fine with it. It was the guy who cut it out that didn't like it@@josephforest7605
