I have always loved this song. Every time I hear this song, it immediately takes me back to the summer of 1982 again. Thank you for giving us this beautiful song!
Great song but lousy video. It's just cliche pics of "happy couples" when in reality the song is about doubt and indecision. I would have preferred to see Leslie herself performing in the video instead of generic couples.
This video would not have gone over very well in 1982. I would have preferred to see Leslie perform as well. Great tune with lots of great melodic "hooks" Cheers from Wisconsin in 2024.
This is clearly Leslie's song, but I would love to have heard a version by Dusty Springfield. Karen Carpenter could have knocked it out of the park as well a la "Touch Me When We're Dancing" style.
Should have been nothing less than a Top Ten record back in 1982. A&R department at RCA fell down on this one! This song has all of the elements and "hooks" to keep the listener "coming back for more." Nice harmony and a beautiful key change after the bridge. Love it in 2024 and think of my beautiful wife of thirty years!
I was hoping to see the singer sing it in the video. Got introduced to this song while my dad was dying from Covid. It cheered me up for a moment when I was grieving.
This one was played a whole bunch in the summer of 1982 on radio stations. I had not heard it in probably 40 years, but I played it often when working radio when it was a hit. One of those lost early 1980's songs.
I have LOVED Leslie Pearl and her music since the 80’s! She’s only made 1 cassette that I know of and I had that made into a CD! I love her music and have tried to see where she is but to avail…..if anyone knows I’d love to hear! Thanks
I didn’t know Leslie wrote the Folgers jingle- best part of waking up… Too bad her singing career didn’t take off well. But she’s made a living from it.
I loved this song when I first heard it 40 years ago. But then, for some reason, I forgot the name of it and couldn’t recall it. Then, last night, as I was going to sleep, it suddenly popped into my head. So glad I found it again.
This song has a great chord progression. I've always appreciated that in a song. Chords in the chorus 'progress' with a kind of glorious build up. Almost like religious pageantry. It's hard to put into words, but when you hear it you know. Another example would be in the song 'Limelight' by the Alan Parson's project in the chorus. "Limelight, you were all I ever wanted since it all began" Go to this song in youtube and notice the chords in the words "All....Be...gan" Those chords together would be fitting in a wedding or coronation.
my folks had this on analogue casette back in the day...and I played it to death...literally.too young to understand the lyrics then but old enough to know a good tune😊
The only station I remember this song being played on was WNBC (660 AM, WFAN since 1988) in New York. Not really a big hit when it came out in the spring of 1982.
