**sorry about the pops/scratches on the first 40 seconds of this song......... Stereo viynyl track from 1966 OOP LP. Cover of the classic by The Supremes; song written by Holland/Dozier/Holland.
I never knew of Leslie until today, when I seen her on the news promoting her appearance at a concert in Detroit, MI I seen just how bright she is just from the interview alone. I found this song to be the one I like best of all the ones I have listened to so far.
All I can say and please this is no insult, she reminds me of three tender artists, I love Lena Horne, Eartha Kitt and Shirley Bassey. I hear similarity of their sound and singing styler in her voice, but she is an artist in her own style.
@etrax2000 What an ignorant comment.Diana was merely a child when they started recording and modeled herself from other women and everyone does who is new in this business or who is young. Yet, DIANA is a trendsetter with her fashion and voice. The mere fact that Leslie is doing this song, is a testament of the commercial success that Diana and the Supremes made it. It never amazes me how ghetto some black folks are and hateful against this woman. The Supremes own this, but this version is nice.
@etrax2000 Hmm? Her style may be borrowed from bits and pieces of what she grew up with, and I know she used to steal bits and pices from others in early tours, but to me no one else sounds like her, meaning, you recognize her voice immediately...Madonna? I always thought she jocked Jody Watley's style. Not sure where Jody got it from, but she was rocking some the stuff Madonna eventually became known for. Jody was her own stylist back in the day and had a style that was unique.
