An inspiring video in how to capture that stark and simple but dramatic look, reminiscent of some of the past masters. Thank you!

A great video....fairly rare to find a photographer who shares my taste for the minimalist, abstract, and the dark corners of what people normally like to photograph!

Some beautiful and clever photographs. I'm a year into a mid life career change (studying photography and working part time doing property photographs but would love to move into fine art - just not quite sure what direction to go in, inspired by the likes of Saul Leiter, but I actually have never really done street photography! really like a minimalistic and abstract approach but with just enough of a another distinguishable element (like another human) so yours are v.inspiring

A thought just came to mind for me, which some say is dangerous 😊 When making selections for photo books, I have been including all types of images, and have yet to sort them to separate books for art, and others as story or humor. This could be an error on my part, unless variety is the spice of life. The more pleasing books might indeed be those which gather together styles, stories, shapes, light, and more into a complete defined book. Alas, when out on the street I take what I can find. Smaller cities and towns have limitations. Take care, Loren Schwiderski on the streets of Central Coast of California.

I feel very much like you. Reluctantly, I think we have to accept that books should have a fairly clearly defined theme. I would like to see more videos about street photography in small towns. I’m sure it can be done - especially, if like me you have a number nearby - but would need a different approach from New York or London 😂

Hello Rupert. I purchased your book though Amazon in the US. Loved the content. I wish, however, it was printed on better quality paper as the current publication does a disservice to your images. I would be willing to pay more for a better quality book as it’s content is superior. Ty!

Excellent video and material. Refreshing not to have to listen to equipment reviews while get photo techniques. But don't get me wrong, I'm as capable as anyone to lust after gear. But I loved the detail forwarding the techniques. This is one of those videos I'll have to watch a few times to absorb it.

I don't understand. You take enormous trouble to eliminate distractions from your photography, and then add ear-shattering noise to fill points where you pause to give your audience moments to reflect. I can't possibly think of anything bt that noise. Perhaps, perhaps, some self-recorded street sounds, just a gentle murmur, will give the right ambience.
