Hi, I hope you see this. On the rooooks, the cuts are called either slits or slots. Think about a real castle before gunpowder. You want your archers to shoot at the enemy with minimal risk. The stone between the cuts is a very pretty word: crenellation, singular, crenellations plural. Please start using this nice word. Now, I want to give this same gift to Al Su. Do the two of you talk? I purchased the natural boxwood and ebony version of this same RCM Lessing set a little over 6 months ago. Beautiful and classic Staunton design. The design seems very similar to the Fischer-Spassky replica sets out there, but I think the knights and king are a little better. I can't help but wonder if the 1972 Fischer-Spassky was played either with a Lessing Staunton set or with a slightly modified version. On my set, I do wish there was a little more grain in the ebony pieces. At any rate, I enjoy these videos, and this is certainly one or my favorite sets!

One of the most important things to consider when buying a chess set is price. Which was mentioned. Also comparing the price to other similar pieces and the height.

The Lessing pattern is nice. I like that set. And that Ebony looks fantastic. The white pieces not so much. I will opt for natural box wood on my order. I am glad you did a review of the chess set. This set is next on my list. As I just received my 1950s Latvian set.

Hey, I appreciate these videos quite a bit! Did you consider reviewing their American Staunton pieces? It looks similar to Sinquefield Cup pieces with the knight being the biggest difference between these two sets. Would be lovely to see that American Staunton set reviewed by you (for example boxwood-ebony variant) if you ever get hold of them! That being said, RCM's naming of their sets is different compared to other stores. That American Staunton set they sell is actually named Haunting in other stores, while the actual American Staunton is the set you can see in Supreme Tournament 55 piece set from Millennium. In any case, it would be lovely to see a review of RCM's American Staunton pieces here, if you ever happen to get them. The boxwood-ebony variant is classy. Good quality looking pieces. The colour of the white pieces is not to my taste though. I would prefer the traditional boxwood colour.

Ebony pieces are beautiful. The varnish on the boxwood not my taste.
