Well , I believe Lestat learnt this from his father. It is quite similar to Gabrielle’s marriage to his father. She did not want to get married and had kids. Lestat made sure Louis did not leave him by having a kid with Louis. And I am sure that Gabrielle felt trapped in her own marriage the same way Louis did with Lestat
CLAUDIA Don't chastise me, I'm a child Acting as a child does. You ply me with lifeless dolls When what I want is blood. You took me from the streets to complete this union. Do you expect some little saint kneeling for communion? I want more! I want more! Look at you, you disapprove, like two fussy mothers. Who are you to criticize the habits of another. Did I rock the family boat by dining on the help? Aren't I just a little beast? Well, I can't stop myself! I want more! I want more! I don't want their milk and honey They can keep those fine herb teas. I don't need their chocolate hot and sweet. It's thick and red for me! For everyone that comes along, Knocking on this door. Don't blame me - it's your fault That I want more! Louis My darling, it's not your fault. It's Lestat's. Lestat My fault!? Louis You're not loving enough to her. Lestat I give her everything her black little heart desires, and still she does this! CLAUDIA Look at me, I'm so sweet. I'm innocent and charming. But all you see is some spoiled brat A child so demanding. Don't fuss so! You both know the rapture of the bite. It's not monstrous! It's just Claudia's healthy appetite! And I want more! I want more! Should I be the little miss And while away the hours? I think not, I'd rather hunt Than cut up paper flowers. Thanks to you the things I do verge on the obscene. What a pair of hypocrites! Well, this cat wants her cream! I want more! I want more! I want more! Lestat You're too lenient! Louis You're too cold! Lestat She needs to be punished. Louis She needs love and kindness. I'll wander through the streets at night And find a charming couple. Who'd fear that such an angel lost Could find herself in trouble. They can't resist my trembling lips My eyes so filled with tears. They rest my head upon their necks... Oh, dear! More!! I want more! I want more! I don't want their milk and honey. They can keep those fine herb teas. I don't need their chocolate hot and sweet. Tt's thick and red for me! For everyone that comes along, Knocking on this door. Don't blame me - it's your fault That I want more! I want more! I want more! I want more! I want more!
"You took me from the streets to complete this union" Glad to see Claudia realizes Lestat changed her as a way to keep Louis there like an emotionally abusive wife telling her husband she's pregnant to keep him with her.
@@AnnaBellaChannel oh ok!! I haven't seen the movie or the whole musical yet im 18 but my parents don't think it's quite appropriate for me yet. So i don't know the whole story. Thanks!!! Is there any other major thing
@@emilym8530 What country are you from?As in the UK 18 is a adult therefore you can watch want you want. I would read the book 'Interview with a Vampire' 1st it is modern classic, a work of literature and well written.
@@AnnaBellaChannel I'm from America and i live in Oklahoma i am old enough but my parents say age doesn't mean anything. And they are really strict and their biggest saying is its my way or the highway and my house my rules so i just rhink its one more thing to look forward to when i move out. I've also never seen Halloween or steven king movies.
Guys I don't think it's supposed to sound perfect, she's making a point of how childish she is because she's angry that she has to be a child. In the actual musical it sounds great ✌🏻
I am actually a major Rice fan and love this series. I got to see the live production of this in San Francisco. I adored this song! However, the musical was just too long and they didn't make it very interesting. I stayed for the whole thing, but it was tough. Anyone who isn't intimately familiar with the books would be totally lost. They tried to tell too much of the back story. As a mega-fan, it even got a little boring for me. Which makes me sad. With a little editing, it could have been awesome.
The problem with anything in the vampire genre is that people come with a expectation and that in the end Broadway had to submit to campy vampires. No doubt this had a chance in its San Francisco preview but coming to Broadway, the show was changed with this song in its rewrite, the only highlight as well as Carolee Carmillo so it was doomed to fail.
That's because Broadway is getting more and more stricter on allowing things they think will hurt the Disney style 42nd street. I miss the pre Disney 42nd street New York. Wasn't this song in its tryout more angry and not as poppy?
It's weird because when I listened to this before watching the musical, it's sounded weird and awkward and I hated most of it but after I watched the musical, it's was so much better? Question though, would this be a good audition song for Wednesday Addams?? I'm searching and practicing and so far I like this song but I'm open to any suggestions at all!! My main fear is that if I audition with this song that it'll sound as awkward and weird to the director as it sounded awkward and weird to me when I listened to it the first time...
I'm auditioning for Wednesday and I was wondering the same thing! Did you use this song? If so, how did it go? I like that the song is belty and it's definitely not overused for auditons. I think I would need to take the acting in a different direction, though, for the auditors to see Wednesday in it.

Maybe I'm stupid or have bad taste but I thought this musical was great. Better than some of the stuff the critics seem to love so much, like Kinky Boots and all that corny shit.
O_O Where did you get this, and are you willing to share the files. I've been looking a long time for Lestat the Musical songs but I'm told there's no soundtrack.
This show is a complete train wreck and this is the only remotely good song. I wish this were a better show, then it would be a jam. It has some potential but it was so poorly done it makes me sad
What the fuck did I just listen to? I am a huge fan of the chronicles, and this just absolutely sucked! (Pun unattended)I'm sorry, but I have high standards for how anne rice's characters should be brought to life. And their singing voices were horrible! And the lyrics weren't any better
^^ right. This is from the (failed) Broadway musical of Lestat. These performers, well I only know Hugh Panaro (Lestat), have been professionally trained for the majority of their lives because they wanted to be Broadway actors. Panaro is a very famous Broadway actor but not because of this (this flopped even though I kinda like it😃), he's most famous for playing the Phantom of the Opera
Some parts of this musical are pretty good but then like this one is like... what? I guess I just have high standards for musicals. As a concept it’s pretty good but like.
