By the trailer, this looked awesome... pity it closed so quick. I would have loved to see it. Plus Hugh P... I mean come on, the man is a beautiful singer. Gorgeous Lestat...
Oh my god! That's almost excatly how I pictured Lestat in the books! Just the overly theatrical preview makes me laugh and the voice when he says "live forever"
Ah man. You're so lucky. I wish I could've seen it in person. I guess you could say I "saw" it because someone taped opening night and put it on google video. xD.
Oh this brings me back lol. I actually got to see it on Broadway. I don’t think it was as bad as the critics thought it was. Could be childhood nostalgia but I have a find enough memory of it. It had an odd ending where everyone was singing about living forever and were dressed In stereotypical 90’s fashion. But I mean, come on. You can find fault in every musical that ever dared to find it’s way onto the stage. I liked the music and I wish that there was a studio release of the original cast at the very least. _Sail Me Away_ still works it’s way back from the recesses of my unconscious every once in a while. It’s such a good song about the absolute lowest point you could ever feel in your life and revels in that despair. “There’s only one thing left. And that’s the one thing that I needed most of all. But the freedom that I gained, is the loss that led me aimless to the shore” ugh it’s so good. Even if the rest of it was so cringe I burned it from my memory, that was a _good song_
dont diss it till you see it....i was very put off by the idea...but i went and i saw it....i loved it it had more to do with the real lestat then eather of the movie's, i am sad to here that it is no longer playing, but it was great whail it lasted.
Ahh I wish I could have seen this onstage, tears!!! They did such a great job with this musical then they farted around with it too much and ruined it, it's sad.
We have a problem with Lestat kicking Edward's ass. Or rather, two. Edward walks around on sunlight all sparkly while Lestat is sound asleep (though that does make him an easy prey at night) Another is that Lestat would probably be way too amused at sparkling (pikapika) Vampires and laughing his ass of instead of killing them XD;
Actually, Lestat sparkles as well....Just not in a stupid-cant-go-out-in-the-sun-because-of-it-kind-of-way, ...And I cant be bothered to find the quotes that back this up xD
Lestat pwns edward. You know why? BECAUSE HE DOES NOT FREAKING SPARKLE!!! and while edward was being a vegan vamp, Lestat was out in the night drinking the blood of young pretty boys and girls. Now, get the idea?
What does the Twilight series have to do with Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles? They're two different FICTIONAL worlds. Quit comparing Lestat and Edward...The criticism is pathetic especially when Anne has stated that she saw beauty within the Twilight stories and considers them to be apart of the Vampire metaphor.
I agree the comparisons made on this page are pathetic nonsense, but i disagree that there aren't some legit criticisms towards Twilight. I saw the video about Anne Rice being asked about Twilight, if that's what you're referring to, and that's her opinion and we don't have to agree with her, only that she doesn't feel hostility towards Twilight.
Don't worry, you didn't miss anything - it was worse than awful. I've never seen so many people leave a theatre during a performance EVER. Allison Fischer as Claudia and Carolee Carmello as Lestat's mother were the best things in it.
Those are terrible reasons. Lestat's better written, in a better-crafted story, and has a lot more driving his character; where Edward is completely blank, has bad characterization and only serves as wish-fulfillment fodder for immature girls. Lack of sparkliness and preying on youths is such brutal,, superficial oversimplification. That's very pretentious, and only serves your own vanity and wanting to look smarter than Twitards without anything to back it up.
That's repulsive.. Lestat is NOT a fucking musical character. No. This is really disgusting. I heard only terrible reviews, and I hope it doesn't show for over a week. This is going to suck out the ass.
Elton John owes me $85 for sitting through this boring show. I felt sorry for the cast, they were working hard, but the score was dull and the whole last half of the show was not "Lestat"; it was a rehash of "Interview."
Elton John owes me $80. I spent 2 hours of my life seeing this monumentally stupid adaptation with its boring score. It just SAT there. It was worse than "Cats."
