The John Birch Society , the Book of Mormon, teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, H. Verlan Anderson have all been good sources to help our family recognize secret combinations. Thank you, Connor, for your book, "Latter-day Liberty" also.
i an happy Hi. I was at Ezra Taft Benson's talk at the Assembly Hall on Temple Square in 1966. I am 83 and was a chapter leader several times. I am still trying to do what I can to expose them. I am glad to see you give them credit for helping people to learn about them.
I loved the video and message. I’m struggling to see how the Church today (including leaders) aren’t fitting into the Book of Mormon’s warnings. We have secret combinations among us. We have mechanisms in place to get gain. We “grind the faces of the poor” in numerous ways. We see instances of “lying for the Lord” either tacitly approved or touted as a virtue. How can I see it a different way? I don’t want to be a Korihor. But I can’t ignore the state of the Church today. I can’t say all is well in Zion, or all is well in Zarahemla (SLC). I’m stuck in limbo.
Moroni is talking to us today in his writings, he wasn’t talking to people in his day, he specifically asks “why have ye polluted the holy Church of God“? He’s literally talking to the leadership of the church today. Combine that with Nephi’s warnings about “false, vain and foolish doctrines“. He is certainly speaking about many things, including the church today insisting that Joseph translated with a rock in a hat, that he carried on with other women, as well as many other foolish beliefs, and doctrines today. We are specifically advised to “awaken to our awful situation“…
I just gave a talk on this a few weeks ago. I quoted Sun Tzu (“Know your enemy”) and C.S. Lewis’s Screwtape (“Keep you patient in ignorance of your own existence.”)
@@TayLybb Oh, yeah…it was a talk on parenting. I mentioned how our job as parents is to both teach and protect. So I mentioned that we shouldn’t ignore Satan and suggested that we teach our children, not about Satan himself, but about his tactics. E.g., how to recognize the difference between God’s methods (persuasion and liberty) vs. Satan’s (coercion and force). I so badly wanted to gently call out our bishop for forcing masks on kids during Covid (he asked my son not to pass the sacrament because we didn’t wear masks), but I was tactful and didn’t mention that.
It helps me to see from the Snoozers perception..that they think they are protecting others and themsekves with these flimsy pieces of gauze against the "deadliest virus on earth". They are scared. We arent. Yes its discrimination but its good for your son to practise hardening himself against the pricks of being in the right, for being diffrrent misinformation.
This was an excellent video. What I have gathered from this is to “ know thy enemy “ and that we MUST stop living under condemnation. And that we must exhaust ourselves with bringing to the light the awful situation we’re in. The only thing that I think of as far as the first steps to take as we must start with ourselves. What are we personally doing that is leading to the distraction of our society. What can we personally work on to fix that. That we ourselves are not contributing to our own downfall and distraction. And once we have put on our own oxygen masks, we help everyone else to put on theirs
I could say stop funding Hollywood by going to the movies and stop funding entertainment giants like Disney, but I think I would have a mob at my door within minutes.
It's amazing to me how every prophet, beginning with Joseph Smith, has talked about how evil and corrupt the world is, like unto the days of Noah. We all know the world keeps getting darker and more full of sin. And yet, the saints are still so trusting of worldly institutions and the solutions that they offer.
The closer we get to the second coming of our Savior the stronger the deception will become. It’s interesting that two of the biggest lies Satan promotes is that there is no God, and that he, himself does not exist either. He’s a very crafty one. It’s also interesting that Matthew chapter 24 specifically states that in the last days the deception will become so great that even the elect, the strongest believers, “could“ be deceived. Even those who claim to be close to God, and even those who claim to be a member of the one true church, who claim to be led by living prophets, seers and revelators, they can easily be deceived, simply because Satan is the Master Deceiver, and he is so good at what he does.
Thank you Connor, I’ve been wanting to do a video on ‘the art of war’ against Satan; this video is a perfect supplement to many points I was hoping to make. THANK YOU. Keep up the great work.
Modern day Nehor's and the doctrine of unconditional love (aka love is love is a doctrine of man). God has unfailing, steadfast love for us but in no case does he want to leave us in our sin. He wants to grant us mercy but we must do our part and go and sin no more.
These secret combinations have been inside the church since Brigham Young, and now we see that priestcraft is rampant. The LDS are the people of Nehor, with their ramiumptons and their prideful boasting of “we thank thee that we are chosen above all the peoples of the earth”. Pay us money and you can be saved (in the temple only, and only for your money). Good podcast, if only the last connection could have been drawn. The Book of Mormon is for our day and for the LDS gentile people, the people who actually read it. Mormon 8 seems to tie it all together the best.
The faithful among the saints are not in this kind of trouble who obey their leaders and follow the prophet on the covenant pathway but the foolish virgins in the Church who argue against their leaders and won't stay on the covenant path and spend their time murmuring and arguing against the living Oracles of God saying they have all gone out of the way and esteem their counsel lightly and set it aside thinking they know for themselves who rise up like Babbit claiming revelations from God for the Church to try to counsel the prophet or their bishop or stake president who don't keep themselves in their own personal runways are the ones who need to stop running their mouths all down about the Church and its leaders and get themselves back again on the covenant path and stop being lazy learners and do the spiritual work the prophet asks so they can get through the door on time with the rest of the wise virgins. For the door won't stay open forever. The Lord is going to shut the door after all the wise have entered in.
@germanslice Throughout the OT, NT and BOM are examples of men who sat in "Moses' Seat" as the "living Oracles of God", but they were not actually called of God. What makes us better than God's covenant people throughout history?
@germanslice tell that to the faithful families whose loved ones followed the council that certain medical procedures were safe and effective. They were obedient and many are now dead or physically damaged because of it. Someone within the church needs to answer for this.
@@germansliceit's about church leaders who were deceived during the pandemic and gave bad advice. We are taught that the Prophet cannot lead us astray. That is false doctrine. If we follow the leaders explicitly and don't think or question we may become as the people Lehi left behind in Jerusalem. We don't believe the Church can go into apostasy. We need to pay attention to what the Book of Mormom warns us about.
I just did a search for REPENTANCE in general conference talks in the last six months and several talks came up. The brethren are talking about it even if the wards aren’t.
@becourteous6414 yes, they talked about it, then, they pushed more about embracing the world and its ideologies. They can give beautiful talks, but it seems like the repentance doesn't apply to them. Elder Oaks said, the church will never apologize for any mistep that the church (aka leaders) made!
I think the awful situation talked about in B of B is that we have a prophet that admits to being a member of skull and bones in his autobiography “heart to heart”
If you read Butler’s book “Plain and Precious Things” (awesome book) about the visionary men of the Book of Mormon, he discusses how anciently sometimes the priestly men were referred to as “angels”. (I don’t have the book with me, so I may get things slightly off from what he said.) So the thought is that it was potentially a priestly leader/“angel” that taught these things to Korihor. That would make more sense as to being convinced there was no God. Interesting to think about.
i always found it interesting in the Peral of great price you see the word Mahan which is a farsi word literally meaning moon like or like the moon depending on how its used so in the context of that passage 'And Cain said: Truly i am Mahan [ like the moon], the master of this great secret, that i may murder and get gain. Wherefor Cain was called master Mahan [like the moon], and glorified in his wickedness.' it is interesting for a reason the crescent Moon is directly related to Hu-Bal or Baal also refereed to as the farther of all lies and Satan it like at that point Cain with taking on that name he allows Satan to work directly through him in a way been possessed of his will. just an interesting thing that just came to mind
A trap that the church is dealing with today is the mistaken idea that all we need to be saved is to go to the temple regularly, take out covenants, and get married for time and eternity. They are leaving out the teachings, which are taught in the Book of Mormon, that we must be born again and changed from our carnal nature and become saints, or we cannot even see the Kingdom of God, let alone enter into it.
Yes, I just made a Facebook post about this and my family was all concerned for my salvation, but I won’t take it back. It’s incredibly important to take the book of Mormon at its word and Christ as our saving ordinance not the temple!!!
Unfortunately, the covenant path has become a distraction. There's too much focus on covenants and not enough focus on Christ. It's through his grace that we are saved. It's by being born again and becoming new creatures in Christ that we are saved. There's too much focus on covenants, as if the covenants themselves save us from our sins. Making covenants with God should be a byproduct of following Him, not the focus.
Why was my comment removed? All I said basically is if that people agreed with this video they should check out "Outwitting the Devil by Napoleon Hill.
I'm a first-time listener and I appreciate your thoughts and insights--but being a retired Sailor, you had me at "piss poor". I've talked often to those asking, "What do we do (in the face of evil)?" about tending your local part of the Vinyard. Sometimes, I tell LOTR-literate people to "Be the Halfling" and refer them to this (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6VAF1YThcbc.html). And I see that set of Hugh Nibley's works up on that high shelf.
Great video! A thought: The secret combinations can get above us in two ways, the first is spiritual. By my estimation, this is what Moroni is primarily concerned with... naturally, including the false ideologies and teachings, and seducing doctrines that this entity will use to draw people away from God. The second is physical, and from what I can tell, the coming forth of this entity is clearly prophesied. We can resist the physical manifestation all day, which is a worthy cause, but unless this nation repents and comes unto God, after having rejected the fullness of his Gospel, the prophecies and judgments of God are bound to fall upon this nation. Not to mention, the abortion 'groves,' and other abominations that are permeating this land.
You left out the many ways in which Satan works on us individually. In Revelations, he is called "the accuser of the brethren". He stands before the throne of God and accused people, day and night. He will also accuse you and me. When you do something wrong, he tells you to hide from God instead of running to God and confessing and repenting. He also seeks to confuse us about himself. "There is no devil." He will lie about his power and his identity. We are enticed by both God and Satan. We need to learn the difference between the revelation of God, men, and the devil. Satan wants to blur the lines. Satan wants you to think that the Holy Ghose is just some warm, fuzzy feeling. Church leaders and complicit in furthering this false notion. Church leaders also want you to believe that the only revelation you are entitled is the revelation that they are not "leading you astray". Mos 4:3 Wherefore, because that Satan rebelled against me, and sought to destroy the agency of man, which I, the Lord God, had given him, and also, that I should give unto him mine own power; by the power of mine Only Begotten, I caused that he should be cast down; This is the scripture that is used to say that Satan wants to take away our free agency. In how many ways does the church subtly communicate to people that you have to obey the leaders, or else? How about when a self-styled apostle stands up and says that after you were baptized as an 8-year old, you have no free agency? Mos 4:1 And I, the Lord God, spake unto Moses, saying: That Satan, whom thou hast commanded in the name of mine Only Begotten, is the same which was from the beginning, and he came before me, saying--Behold, here am I, send me, I will be thy son, and I will redeem all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; wherefore give me thine honor. Think about this scripture. "One soul shall not be lost". LOST is PERDITION. He never promised that every soul shall be saved, only that nobody would be sent to outer darkness. Then, think about what the Book of Mormon teaches about all the ways Satan seeks to influence us as individuals and through corrupt churches. 2 Nephi 28. Mormon 8.
Mos 5:51 For, from the days of Cain, there was a secret combination, and their works were in the dark, and they knew every man his brother. I don't agree that the work "knew" was necessarily used in a sexual sense, when the context suggests more a likely meaning. These men were in a secret covenant together, and they knew who was in or the secret and who wasn't. They had signs and tokens by which they were able to recognize each other. Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they KNEW [yada: H3045] that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. Gen 4:1 And Adam KNEW [yada: H3045] Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. In each case the word is the same Hebrew word, but in the above verses from Genesis, it is obvious from the context. You can go look up the various meanings of "yada" for yourself, but it is an unnecessary leap to presume that Mos 5:15 was talking about sex. I added this from Strong's to know (Qal) to know to know, learn to know to perceive to perceive and see, find out and discern to discriminate, distinguish to know by experience to recognise, admit, acknowledge, confess to consider to know, be acquainted with to know (a person carnally) to know how, be skilful in to have knowledge, be wise (Niphal) to be made known, be or become known, be revealed to make oneself known to be perceived to be instructed (Piel) to cause to know (Poal) to cause to know (Pual) to be known known, one known, acquaintance (participle) (Hiphil) to make known, declare (Hophal) to be made known (Hithpael) to make oneself known, reveal oneself
Can you argue with what it shows, or you just don't like what it implies? What the church says happened is impossible; now, even the church is admitting their long-held version is not true.@@wolfseeker2023
Secret combinations go by many names today like the Mafia, organized crime, the Syndicate, but the most insidious is the Jesuit-Illuminati conspiracy also called the deep state. then there are the globalists, the ruling elite, Nazis, neo Nazis, the Biden crime family, the Clinton crime family, Skull and Bones, Communism, and the 33 degree Masons to name the most notorious .
I disagree. The Holy Ghost testifies of truth, including the truth about the evil we face. If we are fantasizing about the evil we can do, no, we won’t hear the Holy Ghost. But if we genuinely want to learn truth and be given the gift of discernment so we can walk more fully in Christ’s light, we will most definitely be taught!
We've all been deceived. I'm sure Connor is fully aware he still has a long way to go. The key to God changing our hearts is being willing to admit we have been deceived and will be again.
@@ruckin3 I wish I had the perfect answer, but I'm still trying to figure it out and I'm still being deceived. I'd like to think I'm less deceived than I used to be, but Satan is good at what he does. I like many of the things mentioned in this video. I also like D&C 45: 57: Taking the Holy Spirit for our guide instead of trusting in the arm of the flesh. Recognize that all men are fallible, especially ourselves. I try not to be complacent and think I have anything figured out. I also try to apply the scriptures to myself. What about you? What have you found helpful to avoid deception?
God, our creator, created everything. He created the devil, he created our savior, he created the veil we passed through to mortality, he created our physical disabilities, he created our mental illness. God even created the enmity between himself and the devil, by asking him for a plan that would help gods children make it back to god’s presence. The when god did not like the plan that was presented cast the devil out for presenting a plan that god asked him for in the first place. So, god did all this so he could carry out his eternal cosmic battle with his son the devil giving him power to impact the lives of his children for simple presenting a plan that god himself asked for. So, now we are under a plan not that came from god when he laid out his best plan, we are under a plan that seems to be a result of gods anger after hearing the devils plan. We are simple pawns that will be used by god one day and the devil the next, only to be destroyed in the great and dreadful day when god will decide that he is tire of allowing the devil reign on this earth where he was banished by god in the first place. Why would a god who created everything that exists ask his creations for their ideas on how god should govern and punish or reward all of his children? Either we are operating with false teachings or god is raging a cosmic battle with the devil and there is nothing we can do except pretend we understand anything about god or the devil. But, as a safety valve to ensure that no one walks back into the presence of god, he has given us tokens and symbols and handshake that will be the ultimate factor to determine who god will accept back into his presence. Not even the savior who was the scapegoat who would suffer the sins of all gods creations so that he alone could understand and atone for each and every sin committed by god children can judge us and present us to god without the correct handshake as the final act of worthiness. If there is a “GOD” I hope he is above all this religious dogma and speculation. We have created an extremely crazy religious god.
