Well, it finally happened: we saw Zion Williamson in a Duke uniform. A year ago, if I’d said the words ‘Zion Williamson in a Duke uniform,’ it would’ve been as a joke about signs of the end times.
To be so famous at such a young age and to already be lauded as one of the most explosive, unthinkably athletic humans ever to pick up a basketball, we really did not have a ton to go on in terms of real dissectible hoops action from this kid.

Ben Mortimore glad I'm not the only one who thought of that comparison. He seems like a shorter PF that uses his weight to bully the lanes but is athletic enough to fight for boards with a good shot.

Charles Barkley and Big baby lasted. Shaq, Moses Malone. Why you worried about his knees? Thin players tear knee ligaments all the time. His legs are muscular taking much of that landing force. He will thin out somewhat with age. You cant force muscle on young people or take muscle off in one year. It has to be gradual.

'Julius Randle with rockets for legs' is quite an apt description of Zion. I think Zion might be marginally more agile, which is to say that when he's in shape, he moves more like a 3/4 than a 4/5, but I think the comparison to Randle still holds, in terms of their skills, motor and weaknesses. I also think Zion's ability to get up higher in close spaces is a little better than Julius', which allows him to leverage his athleticism in more diverse ways. Julius is a very good leaper, but he needs a head of steam and isn't as impressive in small areas. Thanks for the video. This channel is great.

Nyce video. Zion learns very quickly. His shooting in college increased 70% from hs. This kid couldn't hit a free throw in high school. But he will develop a smooth shot :D

You really do your homework :) He needs a right hand as he will probably get blocked on the next level using only his left hand... Shot looks like its from the side but at least it's not a Lonzo type shot :D His jumping ability is off the charts, he looks so effortless when he blocked that shot, I mean just wow... I’m a huge Zion fan but he was playing Ryerson- I have my concerns because he attacks the rim and his jumper so slow and methodical. Eventually his body going to break down. What’s going to happen when an upperclassman with athletic ability defends him? He’s a tweener as well. What position will he play in the NBA?

First off I absolutely love the title to this video it actually made me laugh. I’m still more of an RJ Barrett guy because of his versatility on the offensive end and he can score at all three levels. Being a Cavs fan I hope they can get their hands on any of the top 3 Duke players in the draft this year. Great content as always!

Roby Suryatama I agree 100%. I’m one of the few that didn’t turn on him at any point during the last 4 years but it would’ve been smart to trade him before the extension imo. Their pick is top 10 protected so they need to be bad. I just don’t think the Cavs would get what they’d want for Love. I don’t think his trade market is that big especially with his extension. I hope they’re terrible and obtain as much young talent as possible.

I completely agree... if he can stay healthy and work on getting a more well rounded game, where he can be more of a lethal shooter and not having to rely on his explosiveness too much... he will be frikkin dangerous!

I always scoff at the highlight reel flash in the pan players. The ones who dunk all day but are lacking in all other areas. Zion seemed to fit that mold but his attitude it what makes me think he wont be a burnout and bust. This kid truly hustles, plays to win and charge up his teammates. Lets see how he handles some adversity and this long winding season.

A couple things; Duke played against what would be a mid-tier division two team in the states. Of course Zion did what he did against them. He is good but don't buy too far into the hype. When Kentucky plays as a complete unit and beats professional teams from Europe and South America by larger margins than Duke beat an amateur Canadian team and Kentucky get half the media attention Duke is getting something is up.

His layups are at dunk height. His blocks are like me mashing the y button with my 99 ovr glass cleaner. This guy has Giannis level game breaking qualities. I still don't buy he's 285 though. Added: -The scouting report on Bolden is interesting at this point as he seems raw in college (double raw). Clarke with Zaga gave him and Zion that work. I think facing up against 7' athletic bigs will be real test for them. -His shot is flat, but he's a lefty and everyone thinks left handed shots looks unnatural. He seems confident in it, it goes it in and that's what counts.

There is absolutely no overreaction in stating Zion is athletically one of a kind. That's been obvious for years. I think he's a good passer. I think he could be 30% from deep in the NBA with work. I don't know if he has post control against a good defender. He's still learning how to defend against good athletes. Right now he's a ultra athletic slasher and probably an elite rebounder. 1 and done top 10 pick.
