Matt Nover played for Bellinzona in Switzerland for a year after the release of this film. The crazy thing is that I loved that film, and I played for Bellinzona in those years, and I didn't know he was there. Obviously I was in the youth team, 14 years old, but it's still absurd that I didn't know. I just discovered it on Wikipedia..
So I'm in Frankfort right now cuz I live here and I'm at the blue chips anniversary game. They showed your video too!! It's pretty awesome. Did you know they filmed the practices in the Frankfort middle school gym?
Coming from January 2024 where this man is a top 3 MVP candidate and has the youngest team in the league getting attention as a title favorite. Crazy that J Kyle was higher on Shai than most and still underestimated him, "not a high level scorer in the league" is really funny
Hey! I have family in Frankfort IN and remember when they filmed there. And yes, people always have a laugh when you confirm that yes, the local high school team is indeed the Frankfort Hot Dogs.
The two best teams of the Seventies - the Knicks and Celtics, who were the only teams to win multiple championships - were both small. Reed was a power forward who moved to center. Bradley was too small for forward, and Debusschere was undersized for a power forward. On the Celtics, Cowens was undersized, and Havlicek was a guard playing forward. On top of that, you had the Bullets starting a very undersized Wes Unseld at center. Small ball predated the three point line.
Great Vid and I love your work…..but…..how do you do a history of small ball video and not cover the early 70’s Knicks or the bullets teams of the 70’s?
The first time I ever heard of this movie was when a teacher told us the high school were gonna go to next next year had the gym where “Blue chips” was filmed, I didn’t pay him any mind until I saw the inside my self, it got me intrigued about the movie and I watched it which then got me to this video, I’m exited for next year.
Penny is the ultimate “What could’ve been” due to injury. Bias and Gathers of course rate higher because they never played but Penny was literally a perennial All-Star and started fighting his own body in the prime of his career. What a single Free Throw by Nick Anderson would’ve meant as well..
In 2023. Kings were involved with the second highest scoring game EVER, and has two all stars with fox being one. All they needed was time and sabonis.
I'm watching this video now for the first time and man you must have had a crystal ball Best pre-draft Luka analysis ever... It's crazy to think people were doubting him with what he had just accomplished in Europe
