Everything we know so far about EA's College Football 25 is in this video, along with my own predicitions and expectations for the game. -- Song used: Elegy For A Cosmonaut by haraiva. All other songs are from dopeboykits.
I’m very cautiously optimistic about this game. EA has finally been given time to build a game from scratch, and this could be a blessing for Madden as well: if the College Football base code performs well, they could theoretically ditch Madden’s and go forward with the CFB code as the base for future Maddens
Last time EA tried to build a game from scratch it was NBA Elite and it was a disaster. Another sports game that tried to rebuild from scratch recently is Komani's PES which was also a disaster. There is a reason sports game devs don't do this anymore. Most likely this new College Football game will borrow heavily from Madden and the old NCAA game.
Except, they will not build something from scratch. They will do as they always do: copy pasta, half hearted engine slapped together. This will be Madden, but with College skins.
It's gotta be like a 96% chance this game is basically just a re-skinned version of Madden with college uniforms and stadiums, and they're banking on the nostalgia from all of us playing this game 10-15 years ago to make it a success.
Yep. Way too many people being way too optimistic for this… it’s EA, have people not learnt their lesson yet? This is giving me EAFC24 vibes, EA work around paying for the league license and promise a whole new experience because of a new name, and then drop the worst game they’ve ever produced. Anyone that plays fifa knows the hype that came with a new name game release… ye, ea bent us all over.
I’m scared and excited. On one hand I don’t think Ea is capable of making a good game anymore but but on the other hand we haven’t had a NCAA football game in a decade. I hope it’s a good game.
I think we might get a more immersive experience than Madden of late, but we probably won’t get gameplay physics that are better than what we are used to seeing. As for EA, their developers might be capable of making a good game, but with the exclusive license they have being what it is, they probably don’t see any incentive to make anything better than what they already make.
Gotta remember they hired people of the ncaa 14 revamp team so there should at least be SOME people who care about actual quality and the spirit of cfb
Well, they have to get through the internal politics. Look at Mike Wang. He wanted NBA Live to get better but left after 2010 and in 2018 said that he regrets joining EA.
For the first time in a VERY long time … people are building a large amount of hype for one of their games and EA knows it. They understand how critical this game is for their future. They acknowledged in the trailer that they saw the comments on Twitter and other social media platforms that this’ll be a Madden reskin. They know they realistically have 1 shot to make a first impression.
They specifically didn't address anything about it having Madden gameplay in that trailer. For me that killed a lot of the hope, because even though they've clearly seen the community response they didn't wanna build up hype in that regard
@@thetrashycanto be fair it was a teaser. Games usually don’t address it that early. Silver lining is that they essentially started from scratch so it is possible they’ve made it better. I’m a glass half-full person so all we can do is hope
Yall are just too afraid to say how realistic a game it is. Yall just suck at being qb. Maybe stop playing the game and play the actual sport. Madden 19 is ACTUALLY a good game. Yall just suck at playing football.
This game is the one legitimate chance to make a football game that’s actually good. After this year if they didn’t do it they will probably never get the chance to do it again. I will say I am happy they are paying the players this time. This is the first time I’ve had my eye on a sports game in a VERY long time.
It’s probably more likely that EA makes a pretty bare game knowing that people will buy it no matter what and then add features over the next 3-4 editions as a way to sell those too.
How can you believe that they even have a chance to make the game good when they're still making it in Frostbite? Why are you so willingly lying to yourself?
The fact that they brought the devs in from the modding community gives me a lot of hope. Plus EA will be now making 2 football games a year, so it’s DOES allow them to refine their engine twice a year now
It's always worth noting that ncaa has consistently felt different to its madden counterpart. ncaa games felt flashier and faster paced than the same year's madden title. hopefully that trend continues (on top of dynasty and rtg being great)
Animations were mostly the same sum difference but your right the tempo of the gameplay was faster in ncaa games and good teams actually played like good teams
I’m officially optimistic about this. The amount of times they pushed it back and also hearing they got the Revamped guys to help with the game lets me know they truly care about this game and I’m stoked for the end result.
This is great to know. If you are optimistic, then this gives me hope. You've been spot on about other games imo and I'm very glad to have seen this video -- please do keep us posted when it comes out!
Well abandon that dumbass hope, the game is frostbite and Soft drink is espousing false positivity that he KNOWS is false just to drum up hype and views. Sad actually
Honestly, I'll believe it when I see it. I recently got a ps2 and have been loving my old sports games so I won't have a problem just sticking to my copy of NCAA 06. I have no faith that this package will deliver
not sure how many people fail to realise that NCAA and Madden were always on the same engine and they always played vastly different to each other . they always had different teams , the NCAA team always cared about their product . and NCAA was always more physics based iirc .
@@oomshaka6683 the only difference was they would turn up the game speed on the college games. It was same movement, same celebrations for championships, etc.
Are y’all comparing madden and NCAA on the ps2? I have no doubt that both were made on the same engine & that they sped up the college games. Obviously because college is supposed to be easier or faster & you can dominate more with the players on the amateur level. But I will say there were more animations , and you could actually feel the weight and physical nature of players based on playstyle and body type - weight height muscular etc. just based on what I remember.
mannnn we needed to hear this reality check, im just worried about them saying "its an entirely different game" but runs under the same engine as madden, i hope they care enough to put the small details in and just remember what made EA successful in the first place
Battlefield, and a ton of other games run on this engine, an engine is just the tools to build a game. Like Microsoft word is to writing documents. It’s has much more to do with who/how it’s built compared to what it’s built on.
I am kinda optimistic but I will be realistic. I think EA is really working on this game and this is proven we are still hearing positive stuff being added into this game . One thing that has been pissing me off with EA though is their game presentation. Hearing supporter chants and crowd traditions was for me one of the highlights of FIFA but they completely butchered it by reducing to a 15 sec cutscenes (even skipping team players and formations etc). I also heard the same about NHL and one thing is they reduced it with Madden and UFC. For me presentation is a huge factor cause I want my game to be close as possible to the real broadcast . I hope the game presentation will be close to 13 or 12 cause I hate the quick wrap up of 14. Let people see the players entering with their traditions, mascots and crowd chants . I also think the gameplay will be ok and not great . They will mess it up somehow but I will grant them some grace since it is their first college game since 10 years ago. As a born and raised African who get into American football 7 years ago (football or like you guys called it soccer is still my number one), this will be my first college game and I can’t wait.
Thanks for your take. I am leaning towards a wait and see myself, especially with no word about coming to PC *and* King Javo's CFB game coming out this year.
See attitudes like this is the problem 🙄. That's like saying I don't care if my car running hot and I can only go to work and back home 😒 no sir I expect more then a poor madden skin
@@Brazil144hopefulyou compare your car to a video game but get what your saying but sorry I'm with him been way too many years since the last NCAA in that's where I'll be at playing college football 25 when it comes out Madden. Skin or not
@@Brazil144hopeful no, you are missing the point. I haven’t bought a Madden game in over 4 years. And the last one was only a gift for my youngest son and on sale 🤣 I don’t play that crap, I have NFL2K5 on my PS2 still and play that. What I always loved about college football was the sport itself, the rankings, the stadiums, the fight to be number 1! The building the young players, the stats, all of it. I’ve been playing NCAA2K and that’s worse than Madden. The game play is the last thing for me, and if it’s the same as Madden, I’m ok with that.
@@ghetto_samurai2157 hahaha AMEN! We are in the same page here. And the game play wasn’t too on my list with College, it’s everything else. Now Madden, gameplay is important as well, but they have done nothing new in years, so it sucks. This other person missed my point I think. Thanks for understanding me 👍
I’m glad you said that about madden, people have been worried about a madden reskin and I for one haven’t bought madden since 16 and haven’t played one since 18 but I bought madden this year and although it still needs work it has definitely gotten better than past years. All they need to do is tweak it a bit and make it faster pace and it’ll do.
so wait, if arch manning(i know he wont but just for example) DOES opt out, can we still create a player called like Arch Maning or a slight variation on the name?
I hope they add a real home field advantage for visiting teams. I want to go into the big house as a small school and I want it to be hard to win there. Idk how they'd make a new home field advantage but I love that setting. Adds to the immersion
POV: You are in Year 1 of your rebuild dynasty @ UMASS and you’re Penn State’s 1st home night game of the season. *Penn State kicks off to you* You choose your first offensive play of the season and break the huddle *Mo Bamba starts blasting throughout the stadium and the crowd noise exceeds 110 decibels* You can’t see any of the routes your WRs are running. *you shed a happy tear* Just a couple more months gentlemen
I love this channel because you’re skeptical, but not pessimistic. You’re optimistic but not delusional. It’s a great refreshing point of view in a space that tends to be very black and white
Love the video brother. You ever considered doing a review for “The Bigs” 1 or 2? Solid baseball titles, not full simulator, more along the lines of the street games
My biggest concern is that it's gameplay from Madden 23. Every NCAA game used to feel a lot like the Madden game the year before it. But I'm stoked for it and optimistic.
I really think a lot of care is being put into this. At the very least, this first iteration is what will be built upon in the future. They need to get it right just once
Im excited for the time and effort they put into this game. I hope this means that college football (another sports games) will have years in between years releases because if it becomes a yearly release franchise, then it will have the same problems as all their other current sports games.
I hope they bring back roster import from ncaa football to madden also bring back the news paper clippings of the top teams and players in dynasty mode. They need to be like 2k and have a big name database where the commentators say your player first and last name for realism.
The future of sports gaming relies on these things: EACFB 25 being a great offline game. NBA 2K going to a new engine that promotes realism and less ‘comp style green or miss animations’ PGA 2K and EA PGA continuing to promote competition FIFA getting a legitimate competitor MLB The Show continuing to promote offline gameplay and historic modes
MLB the show improving their gameplay , franchise and RTTS FIFA needs a competitor it is gone from bad to worst . They need to improve it. Overhaul their whole career mode, add back game intros and walk ups and add new leagues. Hopefully undisputed will be polished when it release on console .
@@jealousbeanbag5636 eventually they will have to. And I believe we’ve been on the same engine engine since 2K18 (maybe next gen has been different), and with Pro-Play this year I feel like it’s a pre cursor to a new engine. (But it’s all my own personal speculation)
I agree, worst case scenario it’s Madden 24 with a fresh coat of paint. Best case scenario, They spent several years building a whole new foundation from the ground up and that Madden could eventually move to that improved foundation. I’m putting my expectations somewhere in the middle. It’s A new college football game from the ground up with seemingly a heavy focus on what IMO Madden has been lacking most, Presentation and Revamped Franchise/Dynasty. I’ll tolerate less than perfect gameplay if the feel of College football is there.
It feels like the team working on this understand the task at hand. I can live with madden-esque gameplay so long as the dynasty is fleshed out like I believe it may be.
im a lsu fan, but its gonna be great when I'm at a small school and my school experiences the highs of winning big games or the natty, and the lows like missing the kick or losing an unexpected game.
As always, I recommend and appreciate your work. However e a isn't negotiating with students they are negotiating with the NIL. But they may soon have to.
They didn't get the whole revamped team, they only got a few of the members but they were some of the more prominent ones. Very stoked to see what they make of this game
honestly presentation and in game immersion can add up to being more important than actually gameplay (frostbite) as long as whistle-to-whistle gameplay is half decent it’s still gonna be a great game
As a guy who grew up in the 80s I agree with this guys outlook on every video I watched of his. Man of the people. Please keep going. You got my support even tho I'm nobody. Respect amd Love
This game really make me nervous cause of it being EA. But I really hope EA realizing how long it been since we got a game they won't mess it up, but we will see.
I want some realistic fan stuff, Wisconsin's jump, VT fans blaring enter sandman before the game, cincy down the drive etc as well as the madden scheme stuff, specific schemes make it easier to recruit specific player types (Army Navy, Georgia Tech Scrambler qbs) stuff like that
I think you hit the nail on the head with more critical eyes being on this game than anything else. I’m sure like everyone here, I am a hardcore football fan, played Madden on SNES up until about 6-7 years ago. What the hell was the reason for buying it?? It got really stale to the point if I want to play football I’ll hook up my Dreamcast and play 2K before Madden. Along with the NFL being a clown show lately, we are so overdue for a good college game. I’m sure it’s going to take a lot from Madden but like you say, that fresh coat of paint is going to go over big. Throw in all new playbooks and “classic moments” and we have a game that may bring old players back and turn on some new ones. With the amount of teams and stadiums, you’re getting a virtually unlimited amount of potential match ups. As long as gameplay is seamless, fluid and fast paced. There should be no complaints, not for the 1st year anyway.
I'm definitely gonna be buying this new college football game. I been waiting for a whole decade for a new college football game and it's looks amazing. I'm definitely gonna be buying and playing this new college football game
I look at the ea pga tour game. Gameplay is okay to fine. But the presentation makes it so much better. Hopefully this game is a mix of both. Ps please give us custom downloable rosters ea
Interested about this game. Europe never got the old NCAA games so I could never play them. This is already listed as announced on the PlayStation Europe Store so we are getting this one.
