Poland Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, discusses what he'd like the United States to do in regards to giving aid to Ukraine, stating that Speaker Johnson should let democracy decide this issue. Sikorski also talks about whether or not there is another funding option from Europe to help Ukraine if the US is unable to pass any funding, and shares his reaction to former President Donald Trump's recent comments on allowing Russia to attack NATO allies who haven't paid their full commitments. The Poland Foreign Minister speaks with Kailey Leinz and Joe Mathieu on Bloomberg's "Balance of Power."

It is a good question, but there is an answer. The barter is simple - US provide security and deterence and it gets (US companies) great discounts and advanteges on local markets (f.e. Intel is planning a factory in Poland and polish taxpayer will pay 2bln USD to help the investmen, Poland abbondoned plans do tax US high tech comapnies operating in Poland after a call form US ambassador to Warsaw). You also have a influence of what vassal states buy (american F-16s) or build (LNG gas terminal for US gas rather then Central Comunication HUB for goods and services from China) So having a zone of influence reaps you rewards and benefits.

I understand the very real human costs with friends still in Ukraine. I support doing whatever America can to ensure Ukraine's victory. Do Europeans understand their personal responsibility for their own collective defense? Remember the tens of thousands of American Soldiers who died correcting Europe's mistakes, with no input from America that ensured WW2 was inevitable. Where was all this urgent, unanimous European support for Ukraine in 2014 after Russia's two invasions and annexation? Most of Europe spent the past 30 years ignoring every American Presidents' call since President Eisenhower to do much more for their own self-defense. By 2014, only 3 NATO countries spent at least 2% of GDP and ten years after a unanimous commitment for all NATO countries to spend a minimum of 2% of GDP, only 11 of 31 countries met that commitment. This retired American Soldier with two tours in Germany, 2013-2017, is beyond speechless as I remember a French Colonel and Dutch General in 2015 echoing the sentiment of most Europeans by telling me Russia's invasions of Ukraine was not Europe's concern! After decades of this European indifference and President Biden's & his democrat colleagues leading the US Senate defeated the combined aid bill with $61 billion for Ukraine passed by the Republican led US House last December, I'm outraged at the audacity of so many democrats and Europeans blaming Speaker Mike Johnson for the lack of aid to Ukraine.

Poland of all European countries, can talk with authority and experience. What an articulate and sensible man he is. Compare the stature and quality of this man to the ratbags in US politics. Its stark. Its also depressing. Australia is like Poland. Its spending 2.7% of its GDP on defence. It will double the size of its Navy and Army in a decade. It had already donated the equivalent of 75% of its annual defence budget on sending weapons and armoured vehicles to Ukraine. The Australian SAS is already training Ukraine NCOs in irregular warfare, the same type of warfare where the Taliban and the Vietcong defeated the US and Russia so comprehensively. Unfortunately in this conflict, the US has been asked to back its boast that its the worlds defender of freedom, but that boast has now been shown to be empty. It cannot deliver. It has 400,000 combat troops who have no intention of ever fighting in a battlefield. Its all on paper where its a number and safe. There is a push here in Australia to develop nuclear weapons. We actually have that capability already. We were exploding atomic bombs with the British here in the 1950s. The infrastructure is still there, carefully mothballed. In nine months we could with British help, send a missile to Moscow. And don't doubt that it wouldn't. Australia has 30% of the worlds uranium reserves. And we have an enrichment reactor under construction right now in addition to the existing one. So as the page turns on this issue, the world watches as the US could finally become what Putin says, an empty threat to be ignored, or whether it steps in and resumes the leadership position it seems to have abandoned.

Thanks, I'm happy we hve such outspoken Foreign Policy Minister, it's nice to listen to him. I worked in previous company with people from Australia - indeed it's a strong supporter of Ukraine. I remember discussing how they could transport those Bushmasters APCs from Australia to Ukraine (they all were flown from Australia to Poland - Rzeszów airport close to border and then by railroad to Ukraine). They were used later to retake quickly vast areas east of Kharkiv last year. I really hope that Ukraine will prevail. It is possible - like Mr. Sikorski said: Russia might be beaten. We know it best as we didi it many times :) We took Moscov twice, installed Tzar there (who was son of Polish King at that time) and even Russia has today their independence day on anniversary of getting rid of Polish rule over Russia in XVII century. Plus Poland won war in 1920 against Soviet Union. So it is possible and is mandatory to finally live in peace in Europe. Otherwise Russia will not stop, they might invade Baltic states if they succeed in Ukraine.

Please be careful and suspicious in this fetish of % of GDP expenditure - did you know that Germany includes all military pension funds and many other false costs in these % ? They also supporting Mark Rutte (Prime Minister of the Netherlands) as a candidate for NATO Secretary. Rutte is known as a supporter of talks with Russia - for him and Germany, "talks" mean a return to "normality" with Russia, which will not be possible without the restoration of the CCCP. People throughout the Western world should understand that the Russians must conquer Eastern Europe to survive as a nation... Without this, they will become dependent on China because of demography, "green deal" etc.

You clown. Vietnam was a full of jungle. Afghanistan was full of halleys and mountains. Ukraine is just flatland for thousands of miles. There is no place to hide for a insurgency Moreover, half of Ukraine is ethnic Russian, speaks Russian and identify themselves as Russian. Ukraine is the ancesral home of the Russian people. Russia started by the Kiev Rus. Kiev literally means mother of all Russian cities. Ukraine means the borderlands. Ukranian soldiers speak Russian on the battlefield, not Ukrainian Zelensky's first language is not Ukrainian. It's Russians. You think this is the Russians first run around the bush in this part of the world? Ukrainian Nationalists led by Stepan Bandera collaborated with the Nazis in WWII. They rulled Nazi occupied Ukraine in WWII. After WWII many of these Nationalists fled to the country side and fought a insurgency against the red army. The Russians defeated this insurgency and killed their leader Stepan Bandera. The areas being held by Russian are predominantly ethnic Russian. The people from those areas are extensively por Russian. They want absolutely nothing to do with Kiev. As a matter of fact many of the men feom those regions joined militias and took up arms against the Ukrainian government. They are fighting on the Russian side. Furthermore, many Ukranian soldiers who were captured have switched sides and are fighting against the Ukrainian government. When Russians have offered to exchange them for Russian prisoners of war they have refused to go back to Ukraine and have chosen to stay in Russia. This is a civil war not a war between Nations. The Russians ain't going anywhere. The cities you are hearing in the news were founded by Russians. They were part of Russia for over 1000 years prior to 1991. Furthermore, you Australians are bunch of imbeciles just like the Europeans. You want to build navy to go to war with China so you can blockade the trade you make with China. 🤣 Your largest trading partner and the country which your resource based economy and millions of jobs depends on. China has the entire population of the United States plus 1.1 Billion people. China industrial manufacturing capacity is larger than the next 9 countries combined. You go to war with China and China will mobilize their entire industrial manufacturing capacity into full scale war production to outmanufacture you in weapon systems and ammunition into oblivion. Then they will mobilize their entire population and send tens of millions men into the PLA. You will be looking at a PLA made out of 50 million, 60 million, 80 million men if not more They will have the backing of Russia and Russia's massive natural resources, raw materials energy and additional military industrial complex, plus other Central Asian countries as well. Then what are you going to do when they unleash all that on you. The Chinese Civil War lasted 23 years and cost the lives of 17 million people. Do you really want to fight a high intensity conflict with China that will last 23 years and cost the lives of 17 million people? In case you don't know Chinese missiles can go over the Arctic onto North American cities in less than 30 minutes... How long do you think it takes until they reach your major cities in Australia. They don't need to have nuclear warheads. Remember what just 2 planes did to NYC. Is this what you want for your country? Do you want to commit national suicide so bad. Be my guest. Knock yourself out.

When you can't refute their arguments and mere facts you must resort to name calling, or attacking their integrity and credibility. Fact is the United States government is $34 Trillion in debt. The national debt is going up $1 Trillion every 3 months The United States has already sent Ukraine almost the equivalent of the entire GDP of the states of Mississippi and Kentucky combined. And you want to print and borrow more money for a war in Ukraine which Ukraine is losing. Meanwhile tens of millions of Americans are living in poverty, barely able to make ends meet. There is homelessness and tent cities in every American major city. The Southern border is unprotected, and being completely overrun. Last year over 800 000 people crossed the border ilegally. Nevermind Carters are pouring drugs and opioid from Mexico into the United States that are killing hundreds of thousands of Americans a year through overdose. And this guy wants to print more money on top of that $34 Trillion to send to Ukraine... The most corrupt country in Europe. Oh, something else. Sometime before the end of this decade just the interest on that national debt is going to be more than what the United States spends on defense. Just the interest on thst debt is going to be over $1 Trillion a year.

Like Poland, America demonstrates its commitment to her allies and it applies the lessons learned from war. Over 10,000 American troops are stationed in Poland including an Armored Combat Brigade and a Combat Aviation Brigade, a missile defense system in Redzikowo, ammo and equipment depots in Powidz, the American Fifth Corps Forward Command HQ in Pozdin, establishment of the first US Army Garrison in Poland on 21 March 2023 and multiple combat air patrols over Poland. Additionally, American F-16's are stationed at Powidz Air Base in Poland. At Poland's request American F-15 Eagles and F-22 Raptors conducted NATO air policing missions over Poland in November 2022. The fact America stationed several nuclear weapons, over 300,000 American troops at the hight of the Cold War (over 100,000 troops today including an armored brigade & combat aviation brigade in Poland) in Europe for the past 75 years demonstrates America not only learned but prevented a Europe rapidly disarming itself from relearning the painful lessons of history. I don't remember any Polish military trainers joining the American, Canadian and British military trainers in Ukraine that President Trump initiated. That training is resulting in some of Ukraine's greatest achievements in the ongoing war.

The pundit didn't know what to say when Sikorski brought up the only time Article 5 was invoked... The US is undermining its own credibility. If the Republicans think now is a good time for US isolationism, they're gravely mistaken, and it will have a profound impact on their own economy and the current world order. Sikorski is a knowledgeable, astute, and well-spoken man-and knows how to advance his country's own agenda! I hope the US reconsiders its stance on Ukraine and Central Europe because it's in every stakeholder's best interest. If the Republicans are just trying to score internal political points by appealing to the 'We've got enough problems of our own' sentiment of their electorate, then so be it. It is impossible for any foreign country to pay American Soldiers' salaries, family separation pay and other additional expenses associated with deployed Soldiers like medical care. In serious cases, this often provided by flying the American Soldier back to the American military hospital in Germany and providing for temporary housing and food. Based on my experience in Europe as a commissioned officer on two American General's staffs, one responsible for all American logistics, including transportation & maintenance, in Europe and the other the Senior Commander of the US Army Europe, I am confident America paid the vast majority of the 100's of thousands of dollars to ship 87 Abrams tanks, 162 Bradleys, 24 Apache Helicopters 38 Blackhawks, 12 Chinook heavy lift helicopters from the United States. "Poland plans to spend nearly $300 million to upgrade several military sites used by U.S. forces in the country, a move expected to eventually improve the quality of life for soldiers deployed there. The projects are part of a bilateral defense security cooperation agreement that requires Poland to pick up a large amount of the infrastructure costs needed to support U.S. troops in the country. The largest initiative calls for $93 million to be spent on a new Army barracks and a dining facility in Powidz The living conditions at the base are among the most austere for troops carrying out missions in the central European country. Other projects include a $35 million rotary wing apron in Powidz, fuel storage and rail improvements in Swietoszow, and aerial port and taxiway upgrades in Wroclaw. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski's response to Russia's UN ambassador at the UN Security Council meeting has attracted attention since two years have passed since Russia's attack on Ukraine. Sikorski went through all the arguments made by ambassador Vasili Nebenzja in his speech and refuted them one by one: "The ambassador said that Kyiv is a 'client of the West'. In fact, Ukraine is fighting to be independent from anyone. Nebenzja talks about the criminal Kiev government. Ukraine has a government democratically voted into power," Sikorski said. "Nebenzja calls them Nazis. Well, the president is a Jew, the defense minister is a Muslim, and they don't have political prisoners." According to Nebenzja, Ukraine is "circling in corruption". According to Sikorski, Aleksei Navalnyi was able to show how honest the way things are in Russia. In fact, Russia already tried to destroy Ukraine in the 19th century, again during the Bolsheviks, and now a third attempt is underway," Sikorski said. "According to the ambassador, we in the West deny Russia's security interests. Not true. We only started to re-equip ourselves after Russia started attacking its neighboring countries.""The envoy even said that Poland attacked Russia during the Second World War. What the hell is he talking about? The Soviet Union attacked Poland together with Nazi Germany on September 17, 1939. They even had a joint victory parade on September 27. Withdraw your forces to the international borders and avoid this conspiracy of the West”

The rest of us are more than capable of stepping up and going this alone if necessary. The west combines is bigger and has a bigger economy than the US alone. If Americans want to try this "America first" thing.. .go right ahead.. let's see what's left of your country after all your bases are gone, all your markets for your products are gone, when you no longer get the machine parts from Germany that your industry relies on and the entire international community starts trading in Euros or other currencies instead of the US dollar and you can wave your currency goodbye... let's see what happens. In addition to America paying 70% of NATO's expenditures in 2022: America stationed over 10,000 American troops in Poland including an Armored Combat Brigade and a Combat Aviation Brigade, a missile defense system in Redzikowo, ammo and equipment depots in Powidz, the American Fifth Corps Forward Command HQ in Pozdin, establishment of the first US Army Garrison in Poland on 21 March 2023 and multiple combat air patrols over Poland. Additionally, American F-16's are stationed at Powidz Air Base in Poland. At Poland's request American F-15 Eagles and F-22 Raptors conducted NATO air policing missions over Poland in November 2022. Especially concerning are the growing number of Polish border protests preventing shipments of critical military supplies into Ukraine and economically vital Ukrainian exports via Poland.

This is how the game looks like at the moment. The USA support to Ukraine goes mostly to USA companies, create USA jobs and in general activate the USA economy. The EU support is BIGGER in numbers but also goes mostly to USA companies, create USA jobs and in general activate the USA economy. If EU is in troubles we need to "PAY" our NATO contribution so the money keeps going to the USA but when the USA is in trouble, as for 9/11 , we in EU have to send our kids to war and use OUR tax money to support the USA. THIS MUST STOP. THE USA IS A DISFOINCTIONAL "MONEYCRACY" AND HAS BECOME THE WORLD BIGGEST AND MOST POWERFUL BANANA REPUBLIC WITH A TOTALLY CORRUPT SUPREM COURT AND POLITICIANS.
