I read this book when it first came out, and actually got to be an extra in the movie when I was 14. I was so excited, since I really enjoyed the book. I met chloe, nick and even the actor that plays the main villain bc he stepped on my foot on accident during the scene where the military people are loading the kids on the bus. I was randomly chosen to be in a group of other kids that stayed near the action - I guess for “continuity”. Idk. It was a really great experience; they were all so nice! I got paid like $500 and even when the shooting was long they’d always have snacks and shit and even the adult extras that were around were really nice and helped keep all us kids entertained. Two years pass. I watch the movie. It’s awful and never gets another two movies to follow the book series. I never speak of it again till now.

I read the whole trilogy this year, and I honestly cannot believe Rick Yancey, the author, was on this set. So many important plot lines were changed, and I hated all the changes. The 5th wave is a pretty good book series but the movie, in my opinion, wasn't very good. In the book, it's Ringer (or Marika) who figures out about the chips. Not Ben. And the person Ben is shown and asked to kill was supposed to be his friend Chris. Not some random kid. And so many characters weren't given justice. I mean no hate, but as a sort of fan of the book series, I was let down by this movie.

When I went to watch this movie, I felt that they reach a very high point in the plot, very early -when the disasters and the slaughtering of the parents- and then it draaaaaaagged in the middle-. Also, Evan and Cassie’s relationship came out of nowhere for me, Ben was a better choice for me

the book is legit one of the best ya books thoo, like just in terms of writing. i definitely reccomend it to everyone

I get anxious imagining how I’d drown/buried alive/die in a way I can’t control and when you started describing the drowning bits with detail, I got even more anxious imagining it and was like “stopppp 😭😂”

Funny, since I've heard that drowning is one of the more "peaceful" ways to die... the theory is that we exist in water before birth, so getting past the initial panic and pain of taking water into our lungs... our bodies calm and our brains drift from lack of oxygen... not that I've experienced it myself or anything... 20:05 Idk romantic situations to seem plausible to an extent in apocalyptic events, because heightened situations would mean heightened emotions. Also, when the world is ending and you have nothing to lose, you would go all in in terms of romance. I do think that romances should be side stories to the main plot though, not the main plot device. Idk, like the hunger games books were more based on revolutions and overthrowing the dictatorial sadistic government, but the movies were always marketed like a love triangle, which really takes away from the main point of the books honestly

Actually the moment I relate to the most (except the drowning part just imagining it is already awful) is when Trin explain why she wouldn’t be able to left her plushies behind ! It’s actually one of the things I fear the most if there was an apocalypse my plushies (and I have way to much that I wouldn’t be able to take them all).
