Hancock is one of my all time favorite female characters cause despite being a Queen, a ruler she has her own weaknesses and yet incredible strength to protect herself and those she cares deeplyfor!

Hancock is best girl I'm glad Oda didn't portray her as someone physicaly weak but mentally so it allowed her to grow from her childish state a bit. What really made me happy is when she got to see ace. That was probably the first time he really heard any news about what was going in in the upper world

Something that I also love about Hancock is simply the fact that she is perfectly written to represent a child who went through trauma: she grew up too quickly, in order to protect herself, and became VERY rough and cruel as a defense mechanism, as you explained. But her child-like behaviour that she is showing to Luffy is very understandable in that aspect: for the very first time, she felt SAFE around a man. She felt SAFE around a person, because her powers not working are absolute proof that he would do her the harm that she CLEARLY lived through with the Celestial Dragons. Luffy is that one man on earth who would not abuse her, punched a Celestial Dragon in the face, AND does not care about what she lived through, because what counts is her being who she is in the present. Feeling safe, for a person who has lived through trauma, is the best way to make them come back to the age when they had to take a very big leap forward to protect themselves. Hancock, around Luffy, is reverting to the innocent child that she was when she was abducted, because she finally can grow up from that age. As you said, she has such a pure soul in this state that it crushes one's heart to think of the abuse that she and her sisters had to live through. I love Hancock, she takes so many risks for the people she loves.

I feel like the fact that Luffy doesn't reciprocate or flirt with her also makes Luffy a safe person for Hancock. As an implied survivor of horrifying childhood abuse, she probably has some serious trauma regarding intimacy. She knows that there is no danger of Luffy abusing her so he is a safe person to pin her romantic hopes on.

I've slowly introduced my two sisters to one piece. I was surprised by how my little sister really liked Sanji, but I was even more surprised to that my older sister loved boa.

People don't like her just because she only treats Luffy nice but the others she treats them like trash, but that is the exact thing that I love about her. That she isn't the typical saint warm-hearted heroine, but one who is actually enjoying the freedom that she has and even got a character development that makes sense after meeting luffy. She's more like an antihero than a heroine

She’s one of my favorite if not my favorite female character on One Piece. The walls she build to protect herself and her people make so much sense after what horrors she’s been through.. I love how Luffy makes her struggle with her believes and how he makes her vulnerable/child-like side shine through her cold and calculating attitude. She definitely isn’t always perfect or even likable but thats what I like about her character so much.. I just love characters that are flawed, it makes them feel relatable.

Boa is the reason I decided to give One Piece another chance many years ago, After seeing so much art of her, I wanted to meet the character and see her arc, thus I had to sit through half the story that I fell in love with until I could meet her and I loved every moment she was on screen and hope to see her with Luffy fighting Side by side with him.

Y'all do NOT understand how much I love Boa Hancock. I revisit Amazon Lily all the time. Luffy has the utmost respect for his opponents and it is shown time and time again. He tells Smoker in Alabasta that he doesn't hate him, and in Punk Hazard when he gets "switched," he tells Smoker, "Let's finish this later, when you're at full strength!" In Dressrosa, he describes his actions to Fujitora as he's doing it because he wants the fight to be as fair as possible. In Whole Cake Island, after the fight, he covers his opponent's mouth with his extra hat *because it is something that he has held deep insecurity about and he wants to honor him when their fight is finished, as his opponent honored him by falling on his back.* And in Amazon Lily, he covers Sonia's back *because they would rather die than let anyone see their greatest shame.* Luffy and Boa are such complex and intricately designed characters and Luffy was possibly the only man *in this world* that could have melted Boa into the person that we see her as now. His absolute and complete respect for not only his opponents but people he considers friends, or family, being shown to Boa several times completely broke her down. She couldn't thank Fisher Tiger for saving her life. But she damn sure will thank Luffy for being like him. I adore their interactions and I love them both so, so much.

Everybody that says Boa Hancock is the President of the Luffy-Senpai fanclub may be right. But we should not forget the founder Bartolomoe who witnessed the miracle in Louge Town! But its interested that a person who uses the attraction of other people for her own gains gets entangled with love the way she did. She falls for luffy and now Luffy is the person who ignores her attraction. At least the one beyond beeing friends

One quality that I find I really enjoy in characters in anime and other media is absolute devotion to someone they love. I think that is one facet that makes someone like Boa Hancock or REM from rezero or Hinata from Naruto, or insert doting anime character here, unbelievably likable. That’s not just limited to females or romantic love either. The absolute devotion inside Luffy’ crew makes his crew really likable and enjoyable. We really got to see that in One piece when Ace died for example. All of Luffy’s crew yearned to be there for Luffy, and when they found out about 3d2y, they all dedicated themselves to getting better for luffy’s sake. Those types of moments are really endearing ones.

I want Hancock to meet Jimbei considering he's Fisher Tiger's Vice Captain and it would be cool if he gave her the Sun Pirates mark and then she softened up a bit

I love that line "While Some people seem to dislike this innocent and girly side of her, those of us with a "HEART" understand that this is simply the honest side of a traumatize girl that has started to heal and has fallen in love for the first time"

This is exactly why I love Boa Hancock. I can't wait for her to return to the story. I love how devoted she is to luffy. She wants to watch his back and isn't looking to him to take care of her.

Hancock genuinely loves luffy and it's has nothing to do with lust. She even learned cooking only for Luffy and after the marineford war when luffy was unconscious she didn't eat a single bite❤️

I’ve been looking forward to her coming back! She’s such a strong, reliable character that even has all 3 kinds of Haki. Looking forward to her rolling up on Luffy with the straw hat grand fleet and Sanji turning to stone lol.

Boa Hancock is my favorite Female character from one piece. She has made a bigger impact on me the other female characters did. The only thing you forgot was Hancock didn't want to turn Margaret, and her friends into stone She had to do it. Hancock is a kind hearted person few people know who the real Hancock is. My favorite trait of Hancock's is how her love for Luffy is so pure. For Hancock having emotion was a luxury she couldn't afford showing compassion was something she had to unlearn to survive.

If Luffy doesn't die at the end of OP, I hope he does marry Boa. She's the only one that could ever put up with a dolt like him over time in a romantic way 😂 They're both perfectly stupid for each other.

the love for luffy is just so pure . she loved luffy not from his appearance but from how the person luffy is . she loved someone who was inferior to her in power (pre-timeskip) . and her backstory is just like killing someone slowly with sharp objects .

While many have shipped Luffy and Hancock together myself included after watching videos/character analysis's like this one and on Luffy I don't see them getting together as a couple long term but I also remembered something else about the Amazons from One Piece. When the Amazons were introduced into the story we got a bit of info on them and their culture, a point I want to bring up is that during some point in their lives some of them will leave Amazon Lily for a time. During which they'll get together with some men and then return back home pregnant. Plus since the Amazons value strength they'd likely seek out strong men to father their children. The point I'm getting at is that since Hancock loves Luffy already and he is the man who'll become King of the Pirates, she'll ask/request Luffy to be the father of her child(maybe children), even if Luffy doesn't want to marry anyone I do think he'll at least become a father someday. Hancock herself I'd image would great joy in being the mother of Luffy's child. Further more I think the Kuja pirates might do the same with members of the Strawhat Grand Fleet, especially if the Kuja pirates end up joining the Grand Fleet themselves. With over 5600 members strong currently and more to come there would be certainly be plenty to choose from at least.

To me, Boa Hancock was a much-needed symbol that represents the core of One Piece as Oda guided us down the manga's darkest saga -- with the Sabaody Archipelago, Amazon Lily, Impel Down, and of course Marineford Arc. Therefore, as One Piece once more dives into the abyss with the Final Saga, Hancock would be elementary to the story, again.

Every now and then we see married couples, but really they still aren't all lovey dovey ever. She is a VERY different character from any other in the show, which is why I personally like her. Also her power is insane.

I feel like Hancock is an important character in the one piece world and in general because she has been affected by trauma and real life horror in a pretty believable way. She got rescued and with her escape she fought to gain control over her life and her sisters lives. Control is a big factor to her in what she wants and fears losing. She uses coping mechanisms and is defensive as to not be hurt again and to not hurt at all or appear vulnerable. She desperately doesnt want to ever give anyone the chance to return her to the treatment she was forced into when she was just that weak, helpless little girl. For her to meet luffy and have these things happen to him set him so far apart from any woman or man specifically that she and her multitude of mental walls of defense come crumbling down. She can't handle how she feels. Especially not all at once. Shes now met a man she doesnt have to fear what she fears for in everyone else. It's easy to piece together why she could fall so hard inlove with him when to her, he is everything that gives her no worries of her hellish past and gives her genuine hope. It must be so relieving to find someone who makes you feel like they're an ally. She is not weak and not the damsel. Despite what I said or how she becomes after the fact she is still incredibly competent and can handle herself. She is still a conqueror. It's really nice to see that oda wrote her and a lot of other characters where it's not a sign of weakness and not wrong or pathetic to ask for help. You can have friends. You are allowed to have friends and you wont be seen or treated as lesser than them because of it. Sometimes your friends can do what you cant and vice versa. it was sanji who said to usopp,"I'll do whatever you can not do. And you do whatever I can not do!" It's a perfect way to put it. Every person and every character can do their part no matter how small it might seen or actually be. In the grand scheme of things every action can have a huge impact just like a domino effect. One small move can change absolutely everything so nothing is useless and no one is worthless! I think Hancock meeting luffy has let her be herself again. Maybe even for the first time in her life or at least before what happened to her started. Shes of course being giddy and love washed by her feelings but she definitely got a lot of her personal freedom back. She got the chance to let her true self be shown. She has had character growth and I'm sure still will. Theres so much more to say but I'll leave that to anyone who reads this because what else there is is vast when you take the time to appreciate and dissect. Little things all add up and that depth to a person really matters in the end. It makes a world of difference. It means everything.

i love ships and romance in Manga( although i don't like ship wars). i have come to terms with the fact that Oda will not incorporate any meaningful progress in terms of romance until the end of the Manga, i just hope that in the very end of it, like the very last few chapters, he will give some romance\family progression for the main cast as an aftermath for their journey. it would be nice to see.

My headcannon would be Hancock fell in love at Luffy since he did not show any lust for her. I think Hancock hates men and their lust because the celestial dragons sexually abused them. Edit: Also I think that her cruel attitude, though it is morally wrong, has a positive impact on the women at Amazon Lily. It makes them strive more and reach higher standards to meet Hancock's approval which makes them more competent.

#Ohara After months of watching your One Piece videos, I finally got to see the one of "The Snake Princess" Boa Hancock. 😉 In the beginning of the Amazon Lily Arc, she showed her coldness, insecurities, fear, and reasons why she is like that. 😞 Luffy was the first man/person in a longtime to melt the heart of Hancock through his actions and indifference to the Gorgon Sisters. 😊 He didn't care if they were slaves, understands how much the past hurts them, and sees why they acted the whole time in the Island and towards the Kuja Tribe. 😉 I can see why some people can't accept her change when she goes from uncaring to caring in the Impel Down and Marineford arcs. But, the beautiful tsundere learned in the 2-year timeskip to care more genuine to her people and welcomed more members in the pirate crew. She still has a long way to go, and I know she will become a key character in the next arc(s) of the One Piece storytelling. This was another brilliant analysis mate. Captures exactly why we like Boa, how Oda juxtaposed those extremes within her. Hopefully he flushes her out fully, healing her of the traumas so she moves past the doe eyed, lovestruck girl to a balanced healthy young woman able to better wield her power, to even grow stronger. It would also be cool if Luffy eventually developed romantic feelings for her.

I wouldn't say Luffy is an "altruist" hes never actually been the typical bastion of truth and justice, he's been on good terms with many atrocious characters, it doesn't care who you are or what you've done so long as you've left his friends out of it.

If you really think about it the extremes, I sort of think Hancock is my favorite female character as her general attitude and arc is just 'lovable' .Hancock goes from me desping her guts to devotely writing defense analysis and comments of her character when I can. She is an incredibly well written character. Hancock loves luffy to the point of obsession, but honestly that is okay. After all, Luffy personality is the exact opposite archetype of her to hate. He is not out for her hand in marriage, or trying to have sex with her or even just the darker aspects of her character of being domineering. He is too 'stupid' (respectfully, I love this aspect of luffy) to try to do any of these things and he cuts to the core of what is 'right' or 'wrong'. It feels very much like a face heel turn in some ways for both her character and us the audience. It is not like we don't know that Oda likes to play with our initial impressions of good/evil, right/wrong with a character being re-introduced. I mean just look at Bellamy in both cases. It is no different with Hancock and I hope she just doesnt get arrested. It would be kind of cool if she could somehow use her power of an empress too so we can get into more political aspects of the story.. I sort of expect her though to just be a pirate just ready at luffy's side and honestly, part of me is okay with that. But if not, I would love to see her meet Vivi, Sirahoshi, Dold and Violet and a few others. Sure, she is a pirate. But she is also an empress. A pirate empress, if you will.

I never really liked Hancock for some reason. But maybe I should re-read Amazon Lily and try to understand her better Anyway, great video, I really like your character analysis videos ^^

Hancock is my favourite character in OP, period. She is an embodiment of being both extremely strong and vulnerable at same time, which is so damn human. Also she is the most beautiful women in the freaking world, not only because of her looks.

The Boa sisters look up to Fisher Tiger in a way you've only seen with the Fishmen Pirates. If there is one person that Boa respects and looks up to on a level similar to Luffy, it is Tiger.
