LET'S ARGUE: God of War 2's Ending is Better Than 2018

Gow 2 has a better hype, like when you finish that game and see kratos crawling the mountain, you knew it was over kratos was about to take out all Olympus, while 2018 we didn't knew ragnarok is the last nordic game so it's just kratos will fight thor and probably kill him while only by the cutscene in gow 2 you knew it was over

Oh shit I made it to the vid! Also my reasons for why Theseus is the hardest boss in GOW franchise on Titan Mode are: - You have only Typhoon's Bane magic attack, which is not very good to deal damage on low level - You still have low level blades and magic when you reach him - He has some annoying moves and can kill you in couple hits - When he jumps to the roof, he summons those damn minotaurs and shoots ice bullshit at you, making dodging damage harder - Due to your low health, either the minotaurs or the ice bullshit he shoots at you can kill you immediately, which is obviously annoying and adds lil pressure - It feels forever to shoot him off the roof, cuz of the shit damage of typhoon's blade, which also is the only way to reach him too in that roof phase But after you beat him, you do get the Cronos Rage so its definitely worth it

The first time I finished gow 2 which was like a year back I thought the ending was really cheap and very anticlimactic, upon replaying and getting the platinum for all games I gotta say that gow 2 honestly has a super hyped up ending, especially if you know what's coming in gow 3. And those cg cutscenes still look absolutely beautiful even today.

GoW2 hype is unparalleled. It leaves you on a cliffhanger where you go to war with the gods. GoW 2018 had a great ending too, but the stories and tone were different. 2018 does imply the same, a way with God's but ots very somber because it's tragic and sad. Kratos wants peace with his son, so war with the Aesir God is sad. But in GoW2 hyped up the Zeus hatred the entire game since the betrayal. I remember feeling pissed at Zeus I wanted to end the fkers. We could all feel the bloodlust from Kratos.

I think the camera change of gow 2018 changed aerial combat a lot. Its is was easier to do aerial combat on a zoom out camera, or a not so closeup camera like dmc. As much as i want the old style of combat back, for the general community who's new to gow should just take the more modern gameplay. I really missed the unique camera angles of gow 3 especially, shows the large scale battle greatly

3:34 Bro really said gow 2 has the worst secondary weapons... Laughs in barbarian hammer, literally the strongest secondary weapon in the entire franchise, very hard mode is a joke after acquiring the hammer. Just use it attacking with triangle and canceling the recovery of the second attack by pulling the Typhon's Bane and I'll understand why it's so strong (in the speedruns they basically just use barbarian hammer + bow and euryale's head and that's enough to beat the game on very hard pretty easily they don't even upgrade the blades bro...)

Talk about OST .. GOW 1 = SCARY + DARK + ADDICTIVE GOW 2= FRESH + ICONIC + MOTIVATIONAL GOW 3 = HANDS DOWN NO ONE CAN COME NEAR TO ITS SOUNDTRACK NOT EVEN NORSE GAME

Long comment alert: I actually prefer the ending for God of War 2018 more than God of War 2. The reason is that the 2018 game can stand on its own and it doesn't need Ragnarök to finish the story we started at the beginning of the game. God of War 2 feels more like a part 1 instead of its own game. God of War 2, the goal from the moment that Zeus betrayed you near the start of the game was to get revenge on Zeus. Everything that you do is to get the power to go back and kill Zeus. You get the power; you fight Zeus and just as you're about to kill him Athena gets in the way. Kratos ends up accidentally killing her instead and Zeus escapes. Kratos goes back even further gets the Titans, is going after Zeus again and then the game ends. You don't get an ending; you get a to be continued. With the 2018 game, the goal is to get Faye's ashes to the top of the tallest mountain in all realms. To honor her last wish. As Kratos and Atreus go on this journey, they are confronted by Baldur, Magni and Modi and other creatures that try to stop them. Kratos and Atreus get passed those gods and other creatures, get to the tallest mountain in the realms and spread Faye's ashes. They complete the goal they started with. Now due to them killing Baldur, Magni and Modi, Kratos and Atreus will face some problems in the future. Like Thor, Odin and Freya. That's what is coming up. But because Kratos and Atreus finished their goal you actually get an ending. The 2018 game could stand on its own. Unlike God of War 2. Was I hyped by the ending of God of War 2? Yes. You can't not be. But it also made me angry. "I have to wait for a few years to finally get a conclusion to the story I've been playing for hours and a I'll have to get new console because the PS2 is at the end of its life with the PS3 coming." 🤬 With 2018 I got hyped but also got a feeling of satisfaction. I completed what I had set out to do. So, that's why I enjoy the ending of God of War 2018 more.

God of war 1 is better than 2 and 3 I think its better than gow 2 cuz in gow 2 atmosphere is so yellow and depressing, magic attacks are bad and secondary weapons aren’t good And in god of war 3 yeah it has good combat but it lacks story, and also there are boring areas like after u complete the game once u don’t want to go through that areas again, but in gow1 it balanced good atmosphere, good combat (not as good as the others but still good), 4 good magic attacks and i didn’t feel the lack of boss fights cuz they kept introducing new enemies

I would agree with this, because the first time I saw The Ending Of God of War 2 I was instantly wanting GoW 3 and When God of War 3 came out I was on the edge of my seat and it gave me everything I wanted from the Cliffhanger on God of War 2 but the first time I saw Thor I was *GOING SPARTAN RAGE, I NEED TO FIGHT THOR!* (And I have hope it will do justice just like the cliffhanger from GoW 2.) I would put GoW 4 Just Above GoW 2 slightly, even though both endings are Next Level.

How can it not be better? As some fellow commenter said, there is more momentum in Greek Trilogy than there will be in Ragnarök. They could make games in 2 - 3 years time span easily and nowadays it takes 5 years or more. That's why Norse Saga will only consist of 2 games, not even 3. In GoW 2 specifically you almost kill Zeus (you've been looking forward to it for the entire playthrough, you get stronger and stronger and you have no interaction with Zeus until endgame), then you get plot twist and after that you are left with the most badass cliffhanger in human history. It's the perfect example of edging and then you finish 3 years later with GoW 3. GoW 2018 ending is literally spreading Faye's ashes, it has different melodramatic tone, not god-butcherin' one. Thor vision is just an epilogue to tease what's coming and even though we have A LOT OF build-up with Thor and Odin, we still don't get as much of a thrill as anticipating GoW 3 EXACTLY BECAUSE WE HAD NO PRIOR INTERACTION WITH HIM. And yes, I know that titles only start playing after seeing Thor vision, but in my mind, as storytelling goes, the game's ending was Kratos and Atreus eliminating Baldur, making an enemy of Freya and spreading Faye's ashes. The moment you complete the main objective - it's over. As I said earlier, Thor was a good tease, a last present for old and new fans alike.

God of War 2 Ending back in 2007 was Hype AF. It had an amazing SetUp for God of War 3, however, unconventional opinion but i dont think the Story of God of War 3 was as good or as Strong as it Could have been especially with the Opening... God of War 3 could of and should of been a lot better.

GoW Ragnarok won't beat Elden Ring. Elden Ring is on Xbox, Playstation, and PC while Ragnarok is only on Playstation so Elden Ring would have more players and thus more votes.

Gow 2 is far from the greatest sequel in gaming, I'm a big horror and puzzle fan so i believe resident evil 2 is better But we still got mgs 2 Splinter cell 2 rdr2 batman Arkham city, assasins creed 2 modern warfare 2 black ops 2, resident evil 2 remake, farcry 2, elder scrolls 2, etc there's an entire 500 gigs of sequels I could think of that are better than Gow 2. I'm not sure if re 2 remake counts because it's technically not the second game in the franchise but I'm sure you get the point. If we are going by what sequels helped the series out for the better than gow is up there but we are still left with arkham city assasins creed black ops, modernwarfare And Resident evil 2. Let's be honest here you can tell they put a lot more time into resident evil 2 and overall it's a much better sequel. That game changed gaming as a whole while there has always been games like gow. And that's a fact, the only thing coming between that Is opinion Like maybe someone prefers a hack and slash

I think i kind of agree with you, the ending of GOW 2 has the Titans and Kratos going to war with the Gods of Olympus, but GOW has Thor coming to your house, that's simply not good enough as compared to the GOW 2 ending
