Woodstock was an event that marked the Hippy movement, it can't nor it should be replicated, especially when the bands and artists that made Woodstock are dead or haven't been around since the 70's.
Each Woodstock of the Main Two, defined a generation, 60s were peace and love with undercurrent of sinister darkness, 90s was rage against capitalism and a general flippancy towards sexual assaults (Clinton intern, Weinstein etc), the worst tragedy is that Part Three doesn't seem to have a soul or a direction. If perhaps some bands which were cancelled were allowed to play there with some boos in the audience, you had SOPHIE there perhaps? some frat boys screamed at her and said she was a guy and there was a riot, or there was a Zoomer vs. Millennial band war, you'd feel more like current days.
HeavyMetal 2000 There was a Woodstock 94 that was pretty fucking amazing by all standards. That was almost as good, lineup and performance wise, as the original. 99 was just shit acts, shit results.
cactaceous there were several good acts at Woodstock 99: Metallica, Elvis Costello, Ice Cube, Rage Against the Machine, Sheryl Crow, DMX. It depends on what you think is a “good act,” because a good 80% of Limp Bizkit’s discrography will rock your ignorant face off, they’re a much better band than boring old Radiohead in my opinion
I completely agree. The original Woodstock was a wonderful collision of so many factors in the social climate, political climate, civil rights movement, anti war movement, and all of the music movements going on. I think it’s near impossible if not actually impossible to recreate something like it.
I'd just like to warn everyone that a bald man in a flannel shirt that looked suspiciously like Anthony keeps knocking on my door, trying to sell me nifty, comfortably fitting wallets. I respected him at first, but now he's beginning to disturb me quite prominently... Sometimes, I catch him lit by streetlights at the edge of the street, staring up at my window for hours at a time. It's getting annoying as the Jahovah Witnesses around here, and I fear for my safety at this juncture. If anyone has any information about this man, please do let me know.
I actually had the same thing happen to me a couple years ago. Eventually he snuck into my house and impaled me with one of his nifty, comfortably fitting wallets. Unfortunately I didn't live to tell the story.
the part in Bio shock infinite where you encounter that black woman singing Fortunate Son hit me right in the feels. I just stopped right there and listened to her sing, that was an amazing moment.
Def agree! Think Zack is still capable of being the lyrical madman that defined him, would like to see what he gets into now that the game has changed! 👌
Regarding the point about post-rock and post-metal ending up in quite one-dimensional places - Post-rock as a term going from being associated with bands like Slint, Talk Talk and Bark Psychosis (among others) to being more commonly associated with Explosions In The Sky is one of the most disappointing trajectories I've seen a genre take. Imo, of course.
@@TheBEAST205 Yeah, a genre that is defined by it's unconventional approach to rock instrumentation and structures becoming associated with it's own set of conventions that few modern bands in the scene seem to break out of sort of defeats the purpose of the genre doesn't it lol
@@Main1111 nice replying to an old comment my music taste has changed I do still hate mumble rap but I don't like Nu metal that much anymore anyway now I am going to delete other comment.I still hate lil uzi but I respect other people's tastes now.
After the segment where you talked about record players, I'd love to see you do a new short series about picking record players and all of the components that go into one. I think thatd be great!
Thank you man. I seriously look forward to your videos. I watch them (listen) while I'm at work and makes the day go by, appreciate you and your hard work!
"You cant single out a particular group and make it seem as if they're the ones standing in the way of accomplishing this goal when they're not." Irony police, arrest this man.
I know. I thought that was humorous too. Especially considering that’s likely what the dude was criticizing ppl for doing online, but in reverse. Irony...
Oasis and Beatles both sang in a way where their British accent was clear, most singers don't seem to have an accent when they sing, you can't tell where they're from until they speak between songs.
On the record player thing, I have a $45 Jensen turntable that's been working perfectly fine for over 10 years. It has a beautiful warm sound on it. I initially bought it my senior year of high school to play some old records of my moms and I've loved it. I've listened to a few others and I met a lot of vinylheads in college that swore by their tube amps and extras but they honestly didn't sound THAT much better. I'd rather have my $45 player that sounds pretty high quality than a $500 turntable that's actually high quality.
Another thing worth mentioning with cheap turntables is the tracking force. You did indirectly mention it with saying your records will get destroyed, but understanding just how much more tracking force a cheap turntable has compared to something in the $300-400 range is huge (e.g. the tracking force of a Crosley is ~3 times the desired tracking force of a record player)
Lmao... the original Woodstock lineup had some of the greatest musical artists of the 20th century, and a couple turds. That ratio, whatever it actually originally added up to (subjective), was basically inverted on every subsequent Woodstock gathering... Also, is cancel culture a music related thing? I thought it was a broader problem than that... Either way, it’s fucking toxic: hashtag cancel cancel culture!
Cancel culture is fuckin everywhere rn, and the Twitter community/culture as a whole is one of the absolutely the biggest offender. ESPECIALLY Anitwitter I can't stand it, nor any individual who keeps this trend going
I got a vintage standard mount Sansui TT from the early 70s with a pretty great cartridge already on it for like $95 off Craigslist back in 2015. It definitely took me a little while (about a month of checking Craigslist a couple times a day) of scavenging for a deal like that but you WILL find one eventually.
@@k-leb4671 hahaha it’s an inside joke between my wife and me, about the difficulty of finding vegan stuff in regular-ass grocery stores about fifteen years ago; I’d tell her that we need to be careful because the bagels secretly contain horse tongues
Used to strongly dislike your channel. Now. I do very much so love your channel. Thank you sir. And I am sorry for lacking the love that you deserve thus far. That’s my bad. Side note: Woodstock is going to be an amazing experience. They who do not attend will miss out.
In the days of record stores, no one I know would have used a turntable that sold for under 300-400 dollars (in the 70's). I had a swanky Technics direct drive turntable with linear tracking. And lots of records. I miss them. I don't miss moving them from place to place. I love the ease of using iPods and 3D Walkmans. I can live without storing the hundreds of albums.
Was hoping Woodstock 50 would be worth driving cross country for but the only artists I want to see are the killers jay z chance common vince and earl. Only way I see myself going is if tickets are under $100
My dad attended the original Woodstock, being from white plains it was just a car ride, he said they had tickets for all 3 days, the first day they had to park on the freeway and walk and when they got there it was shit show. The medical tent was overflowing it was muddy and an awful time. They didn't even stay the whole day and didn't go back for days 2 or 3
I strongly disagree with the point that people saying review an album are asking for a good review, especially when it comes to psychodrama, most English people just wanted Dave to get more attention worldwide because he deserved it, proof of this is in the lack of hostility in the comments of the psychodrama review
would you be able to recommend a good turntable? I’m using the Audio Technica at-lp60 which is a cheap one so idk if I should buy a more expensive one or if mine is fine for now 💀
spring ephemeral in my experience and research that’s pretty fine, maybe a few years down the road invest in a more robust model but yknow with care and replacing the needle occasionally that’ll be just dandy
