In this episode, we delve deeper into what we need to know in order to build an amplifier. A great site to visit for information on how to modify and build guitar amps is here: robrobinette.com/Amp_Stuff.htm
I hope you enjoy and come back for more.

I hope your channel growth more. Your content is really well done. DIY amp builder myself and I've learned quite a bit in your video about the bias excursion etc...

Finally someone explaining how this works, thoroughly and clearly! Thank you!

This is fantastic information....Really clear explanations of the functions of the components. It is greatly appreciated!

I am planning my first tube amp build, a 5F1 but with a Weber 12s Alnico.I expect it to have overly strong bass and don't want the breakup to begin until 6 or 7. Your video has taught me about how I can substitute different values to voice the amp besides coupling caps. Thanks A/Tech

This was very helpful to understanding what you're doing when building an amplifier. I've been thinking about doing that for quite a while, and haven't because I don't feel like I understand enough of what I'm doing to be able to accomplish that safely and effectively. I'm going to watch the rest of this series, and determine if I should buy a kit and assemble it. Thank you for sharing. (I'm not going to mention what amp I want to build at this point. It's just not going to be easy).

You have a very clear way of explaining, so much so that even I as a complete newbie on the subject can get a good grasp of what is going on. Thanks and best wishes for the future of this channel from your 130th subscriber!

Great stuff, "Why" things work the way they do is just as important "How" to wire it all up. A video on a 3 way Baxendall tone-stack (or similar, Marshall Super-bass) would be amazing for us tone nerds, the way you describe each component and what their role is as you go along is your strong point. Thanks.

It is a very good explanation, but you got one thing wrong: A standard amplification stage with output at the anode will always reverse the phase 180 degrees. That can be important when you later want to mix different signals. You need to be aware of the phase. I once build a clone of a Marshall 18w with reverb, and found out that the reverb signal and the source signal were out of phase - that didn´t sound good.

I didn’t t really touch on phase at all. I just said the output would be a bigger version of the input. Which clarifies nothing of course. However, yes you are correct that the basic triode stage will invert the signal. My drawing does incorrectly show the wave as it relates to in and out. I wasn’t really focused on that part of things as much as I was trying to get all the other data out. Thanks for pointing that out though, because it does matter

Need a decoupling capacitor on the input 👍

Need is a strong word ;) most amps use it as a tone shaping tool, not for safety. I generally shoot for as few number of parts in the signal chain as possible. If you have to shape the sound before it even hits the first stage, then what are you doing it for?

Hello Theoretically speaking, would it be possible to build a tube amp that would have 50 watts or more? If so, what components would increase the wattage? Thank you
@atech9020
@atech9020 19 дней назад
As a single ended amp, much above 30 watts is going to be tough. KT88's are about teh only tube readily available that can get you there and beyond, but you have to scale voltage with it. It is not always practical to design an amp with a wattage in mind utilizing specific parts. When you start going with push-pull/class-ab designs, you can easily push beyond 50 watts if desired.

Not new? What kind of comment is that? I can't believe you actually spent time to write that comment and actually pressed the post button. Bet you feel real good.
