I totally understand how postnatal depression sneaks up on you Ma. There was so much guilt in not being able to be the perfect mother I wanted to be. I went through the same thing 21 years ago. The only option was Crisis resolution back in those days. It was very hard to get support in those days. Your story is my story dear, all I could think about was suicide for months, I looked at every tree I went past, figuring out how I could climb it with a rope, what corner I could drive my car off at speed and into a solid tree, I was so very unwell. I missed the first couple of years of my two sons lives, it was all such a blur. There was so much shame in not coping. I never thought I could get through it and thought everyone else would be better off without me. I didn’t think recovery from my anxiety and depression was possible. There was no light at the end of the tunnel but over time the colour slowly came back in increments but it took a long long time. Unfortunately I was miss diagnosed with bipolar, (which was not the case, it was ADHD which was diagnosed 4 years ago as I had mentioned my hyperactivity in the past) This really delayed my recovery due to being so over medicated. It’s not easy is it. You made me cry listening to your story, I’m so very sorry. I’m so glad that you found a supportive work place and that you can use your lived experience to give back to the community. Thank you so so much. As hard as it was, you realise that you are so much stronger than you know and the resilience you build and the lessons you learn, create a deeper, more compassionate person. Thank you for being vulnerable. I would love to help others who are struggling with the same horrible situation we have gone through Ma. You are an incredible woman. I know how difficult this must have been for you to be vulnerable here. Bless you darling Aroha ❤🦋🙏🐳🩷kim xx ⭐️🐝
