IO is high in iron

From my personal testing, that's not accurate. It could have been the test, or some other external influencer, but in Aug of 2023, I tested the 100L container in the garage. The majority of the water in that barrel was mixed with regular IO. The FE result was 0.

@@telegraham it is very accurate. Iron chemistry is complicated and once chelated it can be bound to surfaces or contained in biofilms so therefore is not present in the water column.. but it is there.

@@DJDorrat Fair, but then do I care? If it's not in the water column, then I don't think I care. If I do care, then I'm chasing something that doesn't seem achievable. Iron is indicated in the display, and I know that it's there because I put it there. Thoughts?

@@telegraham it is not essential to keep adding iron as your fish and coral feeds will contain enough to maintain a sufficient level. Excess iron is likely to end in nuisance algae as it acts as a fertiliser. I tend to recommend to my ICP customers that if your ICP is showing as undetectable every 2 or 3 tests the to dose the recommended amount, just to ensure there is enough present. The corals are used to having incredibly low levels of iron, in an aquarium it is an element that can accumulate quite easily and then will be found on surfaces rather than in the water column, which is undesirable and explains why it is often shown as undetectable. BTW.. I am the other Fauna Marin ICP consultant for the US (and UK)
