Cool video as usual.Allways liked Xyster myself.that C.C.G. underground series label was the sublabel to C.M.F.T Productions out of Bury St Edmunds in the U.k.The label that released the first Tiamat lp Summerian Cry in 1990.A friend of mine who hosted a radioshow for thrash and deathmetal here in Oslo back in 89-91 visited CMFT label boss Darryl Turner on his uk summer holliday in 1990.and while he was away his stand in host played alot more cool new stuff.remember i called the radiostation an talked to him after the broadcast.he did a fanzine named Metal Glory and had grown tired of thrash and death so i met him at his place and bought lots of lp's and demotapes.lp's was all wild rags Recipients Of Death,Anialator,Blood,Gammacide,Hexx,Nuclear Death and Sadistic Intent.demos was Deadhead/Lethargy black tape,Malignant day of the lord black tape,Alastis just law black tape with white prined labels,Nocturnus the sience of horror black tape with greyish printed label on one side,Vader necrolust black tape with proprined black and white labels,D.R Shrinker the eponym transparent grey with direct shell print on one side,Invocator alterations black tape,Sufferance(the old Anialator TX) promo 90 white tape with printed shell and Armoured Angel wings of death black tape with white printed labels.the Xyster black bible demo topped the Metal Forces demo chart for 6 months in 1988.
Massive score on all those tapes and records man!!! I totally remember that Black Bible in the Metal Forces zine for sure, I'm sure I still have a bunch of those issues laying around somewhere in a box. Cheers!
Hi Dennis!! awesome stuff, i really enjoy this type of video, seeing lesser know thrash bands from the good old days or some i have never ever heard before.... back in the day unfortunately down here we did not have that much info about many of those US and UK bands. for example it's the first time i have ever heard about Arcane, C.I.A or C.C.G, also thanks to the vc now i about F&F or liste for the first time to Znowhite and Exumer killer stuff that now i really want and need to get in my collection. cheer nad be well
Awesome man, glad I can show some lesser known gems I've picked up over the years and even recently still finding stuff I missed out on. So many great bands that deserve to be heard! Cheers brother!
Dude, you just made me pull 2 LPs that I have not played in decades. Meanstreak “RoadKill’ is the shit! These girls remind me a lot of early L7 with a fucking thrash attitude. I found Total Armageddon in Spain back in 2006 and the reason I picked it up was because of the fucked up cover LOL (one of the killer covers ever in metal). They are heavy thrash but their riffs sound so fucking NWOBHM…I love this wax and it is one of my previous gems. JC/Miami
Brilliant stuff Dennis. Ive been listening to a few of these shown over the past weeks myself. Im not sure if ive heard that Arcane record, ill check it out. Glen Evans married a girl from here that used to 'baby sit' my friend when she was younger. We thought that was cool when we were teens ha! C.I.A, Meanstreak, Midas Touch, Faith Or Fear, Hydra Vein are all records I became aware of from the bargain bin of my fav record shop, bought so much stuff from those bins man! Fantastic records and vid mate.
Yess I got a ton of records in the bargain bin myself , including that C.I.A. and pretty sure the Midas Touch cassette I have was in a dollar bin as well. That's where all the good shit was, hahaha.
Nice video Dennis. You are right that some covers from the 80s were really bad like the ZNOWHITE for exemple lol. But a great record and band. MELIAH RAGE was good too and they had some later albums that were not bad either, like comeback cds. Great video and have a nice weekend.
Thanks dude, yeah I really liked that first Znowhite ep when I was a kid and it still holds up imo. I didnt even hear Meliah Rage until a few years ago, always passed on it because of the cover and I was already into heavier shit when it came out, what a banger that first record is, Cheers Rene!
Awesome channel, I like, I click subscribe! You mention Doomsday for the Deceiver, but what about No Place for Disgrace? Fantastic thrash from Flotsam & Jetsam and they are still putting out good material, 2nd tier popularity band worth supporting.
The MEANSTREAK girls were dating the guys from MAJESTY / DREAM THEATER back in the day, i hear that somewhere. Good record, i agree. And LAAZ ROCKIT made an other album like 20 years ago or so. Different but not really bad.
Yea I heard that Laaz Rockit and dug it but the production was really bad if I remember correctly. Would love to have seen them live but somehow missed them unfortunately. Cheers man!
Except from the Disciples Of Power one I have every single one on vinyl in the collection. The regular Meliah Rage is single sided as well but has different center lables. Yes, nobody ever talked about that Meastreak album. Two of the ladies are married to some Dream Theater dudes.... I came across Faith Or Fear on the Ultimate Revenge 2 video. A couple of years ago Night O f The Vinyl Dead released a demo and unreleased stuff comp. called "Instruments Of Death". My copy of the Arcane album has the usual red Wild Rags lables. I still have the first two Exumer as white lable promo LPs. That Xister demo is pretty cool, I have the CCG vinyl version. It´s from the UK, Plast Head Distro. Great video! At some point we should have a beer together and do a livestream about that underground sh*t, hahaha.....
Great records, thanks for showing us. I already only knew Exumer, Flotsam, Meanstreak and Faith Or Fear from reviews and advertisements for those albums in old Kerrang, RIP and Metal Maniacs magazines.
A lot of great albums here. Love Znöwhite, but that cover....... Faith Or Fear is a album that I need to pick up. Meanstreak and Arcane sounds like I need to check out. Exumer - Possessed by Fire is killer. Great video.
I remember buying that ‘Meanstreak’ album when it first came out! If my memory serves me well… they were touring with ‘Overkill’… which obviously piqued my interest in checking them out! Turns out 2 of them were married to 2 of the guys in ‘Dream Theater’! Love that ‘Arcane’ album! I have it on OG cassette & vinyl! I always thought of ‘Hydra Vein’ as the U.K’s version of ‘Slayer’ back in the day! Good to see you sir!🤘🏻
Hey Marc! Yea just recently heard about the Dream Theater connection with Meanstreak when I posted this video, crazy. That Arcane is a massive banger man, such a beast of a record that deserves more love for sure! Cheers man talk to ya soon!
you never stop surprising me with shit ive nver heard. cheers. Also I checked out that Midas touch - What a great album, nice crushing guitar tone and catchy songwriting. Too many wierd little skits tho!
Yeah that EP rips! I need the record before it still, not sure what it's called but it was in the same vein as the EP. Midas Touch is def a ripper that doesn't get enough love. Cheers
