Hey man. Weird question. But back in the day (95, I think) an old friend copied a demo for me. It was this four piece from San Jose, I think. I can't remember exactly what their name was. Embodiment or something, but had a weird spelling. Pretty sure there were only 5 tracks. Problem is, I don't have that tape anymore and I haven't seen this guy in over 25 years. Does that sound like anything you have or know of?
Great list! You could say the list is... essential... I'll show myself to the door. Maby Realm of Chaos or even more so Warmaster could maby had taken a spot, but I don't know which one it should replace. Cheers!
Both are total bangers , especially ROC!! My fave is In Battle but I wouldn't call it essential to the DM scene as it still has a lot of Sacrilege / Hellbastard crust grind sound to it which I love. Cheers
I’d put Demolition hammer’s first two albums up there, but they’re more so death thrash, however early Sepultura is in that same category regardless & theyre essential. Dead Brain Cells debut, Overkill debut is good too. A lot of amazing stuff
All rule!! I did put the first Overkill on my list but it is probably a more speed metal record than thrash but I still thought it was essential to the scene and thrash as a whole. Cheers

Fucking great episode, great selection from both of you! For me the first Rigor Mortis is also essential, this was a very important record in my youth (and still is).

Killer channel. Get tipsy and talking metal is a good concept. Lol. The Vio-lence album is classic and Seans vocals and lyrics were unique in every way. Another underrated album is Holy Terror- Mind Wars. The lyrics and vocal delivery were off the rails! Tempos fluctuating constantly on those albums. Thats what newer metal bands are missing...the danger and reckless abandon.
Dennis I have found great stuff at amoeba and a few other records spots in the Bay area but the place that I found the most gems is streetlight records in Cambell.. way better than the Rasputin next to it..

Heathen - Breaking the Silence, Invocator - Excursion Demise, Sadus - Swallowed in Black. Couple of notable mentions. I'm sure a lot of heads out there would be surprised to see Razor on the list but not Exciter or Annihilator... Nuclear Assault. There's bound to be pedants circle jerking over which bands wouldn't qualify because they're speed metal or proto death, proto black, crossover, nascent grindcore... All that bullshit.
@@analogarchives Yeah, Invocator are savagely overlooked. They were streets ahead of their time but also unlucky with timing given they hit the ground running headlong into the indie explosion. Can't bring myself to use the 'G' word 😔
