In this video we will replace the 6 x 2 Stromberg 97's on the 1934 Ford pickup with a tunnel ram intake manifold and 2 x 4 Holley 450's. The Vertex magneto will also be replaced with a Pertronix magnetically-triggered distributor. Afterwards, we'll take a ride in the country to be sure it all works :)

A Tunnel-Ram just has more look-see. I put a Tunnel-Ram on my 1972 Mercury Montego. 351 Cleveland engine. With Street Scoop with three red openings that opens when you mash the pedal. No choke, colds start like fuel injection.

The TR is indeed an impressive sight, Robert, and when properly set up, it really "livens up" the engine. I have no problem with cold starts either.....despite what you are led to believe.

Enjoyed this one very much . I had a tunnel ram with 390 & 450 Holley’s on a SBC in my ‘48 Anglia a few years ago. Very responsive and never overpowered the motor. Looking down the scoop, protruding through the hood always put a smile on my face. Great channel & content 👍👍👍. Geof U.K.

Years ago, when I restored jukeboxes, I bought a commercial-grade buffer/polisher, just like the chrome shops, to polish aluminum and stainless steel parts. It now does the same for the hot rod parts. I featured it in a video on polishing the old Ampro speaker grilles.

Doug, Thanks for the ride! I'd forgotten you were only running on two barrels. Besides... A pair if four barrels? Oh hell yeah! It's a really nice setup! Back in the late 70s, I had a friend with a Plymouth wagon with a 440 wedge in it. He had a six-pack on it. He was always complaining about getting the carbs to sync right. He was looking for a twin four barrel, but couldn't find one to fit under the hood! With the six-pack, he could pull the front wheels off the ground! It was terrifying! It was a great sleeper! He had mufflers on it. Back in those days the cops would enforce the noise laws. Running open headers meant tickets and inspection notices! It as fun to be next to some rich kid in daddy's muscle car and just blow him off the line! I never asked to drive it!

Hello Uncle Doug, Worth a second view on the new channel. I trust you and yours are all doing well. I like the detail in your work like the copper fuel line, contrast is good for me. I've been really busy as of late, with as long as 12 hour day's, so, time is at a real premium. Watching as I'm able, will look for new videos. Sure feeling like Fall here in Oregon, morning's and at night. Still 70's and 80's for temps. Been a while since I said Hey. Peace & Happiness from Oregon, C.

Great build UD, tunnel rams are awesome. I don't know about using copper tubing for fuel lines though. It can harden with vibration and crack, with disastrous results. Plus it would be nice to see a Ford engine in a Ford car. Just my 2c worth.
@uncledougshotrodgarage6049
@uncledougshotrodgarage6049 Год назад
Thanks, Geoff. It sure worked well :) The connection to the copper tubing was via flexible fuel hose so no problems. The beauty of hot rods is they allow for mixing and matching parts, including engines. I assure you that the Ford body had no problems accepting a Chevrolet engine. It's strange that people aren't as understanding.

@uncledougshotrodgarage6049
@uncledougshotrodgarage6049 3 года назад
Thanks. I agree that 900CFM is indeed excessive for a fairly stock 350......but smaller carbs cost a fortune.
@4EVRLOW
@4EVRLOW 2 года назад
@@uncledougshotrodgarage6049 it is probably closer to 650-700cfm, Simply adding the cfm of the two carbs doesn't work like that on a tunnel ram due to the fact that the airspeed going down through the intake slows down considerably because your effectively doubling the surface area the engine is breathing through and the engine is just a big air pump and will only take in what it can digest. awesome build!!

With the transmission modulator does it shift earlier with the lower vacuum of the tunnel ram? Ive got a rebuilt hot 302 in my t bucket with same ram and carburetors with a c4 auto. I dont want it to shift early before the party happens
@uncledougshotrodgarage6049

It seems to shift at the proper time, BB. You can adjust your modulator to shift later.....there is a tiny screw inside the protruding tube.
