I've been watching this retrospective since his Tails' Adventure LP in 2011. I was 11 years old then. I was in middle school. I didn't have a brother or a sister then. I lived in Brasil then. Now I'm 19 living in Texas. It's crazy. XD
Clement. I want to say congratulations for a job well done. Your Sonic retrospective will be representative of the 2010s decade when it comes to RU-vid. The commentary, the stellar gameplay, and even the hilarious cut away gags from time to time made every part worth watching. You've successfully defended some of the less appreciated games and made your mark in internet history with your iconic Sonic 06 movie review. From my time in fourth grade to my last day of my third semester of college, it's been one hell of a ride. So, all I can really say now is...thanks.
"Ladies and gentlemen, these are-" **smash cut to shirtless Eggman** "THE EGG NIPS!" **cut back to Clement** "... yes the Egg Nips." I guess if you want to do more Sonic stuff, you could talk about the IDW series. There's enough there by now to really get into it, and Eggman has a ton of great moments, especially one particular bit in the most recent issue.
2012: "I should have never seen Dr. Eggman's Eyes!" 2019: "I should have never seen Dr. Eggman's Nipples!" So this is it, we've reached the Endgame, No more Sonic games to look at in the retrospective until Sega releases the next game, whenever it is and whatever it is.
Man, I was in--I think I was starting middle school when I found this channel...and now it's over after I'm out. 11 years old when I found this channel and now 21...Wow.
Man I don't really care about this game, but how could I not tune in to the final episode of the Sonic retrospective until the next Sonic game or whatever? Crazy to think how long this has been going on for! Dr Eggmans nipples are as cursed as seeing his eyes in 06
That moment when it hits you that Clement covered 20+ years of gaming in 10 years almost on a constant basis. Real talk, I'm a Sonic fan because Clement. I really subbed to him because of his Mega Man LPs but then I started watching his Sonic stuff and fell in love with it. Even buying and playing some of the games for myself. You're channel has been a big part of my childhood and young adult life. I remember anytime I was depressed or sad I would put on one of your LPs and draw or watch one SomecallmeJohnny's reviews. Made my day when you guys did the Mega Man 3 review together. Honestly Clement. You mean more to some people than you know and I want you to know that these 10+ years of commentary from you have really been a fuckin blast. Keep it up man.
This isn't the end of the sonic retrospective. As long as SEGA still makes sonic games it will never end. This is just a break until the next game comes out so Clement you will still have me as a supporter.
And with that, Clement's nearly decade-long Journey is over, and what a ride it was..... Now he just has to finish Final Fantasy LOL. Seriously though, nice job Clement, it May have been and endurance test at times, but you made it.
You’ve finally done it, after all this time we’re caught up. Your sonic retrospective (specifically knuckles chaotix) is what got me into RU-vid in the first place and has always been a favourite. Sad to see it over after all this time but there’ll be more games eventually and I’ve always enjoyed the non sonic and megaman games you decide to show off and the final fantasy reviews. Well done clement
14:02 - “I was looking forward to seeing a ninja in Japan, but I haven’t really found one. They must be really good at hiding!” What toad was expected to see a ninja, but didn’t find it.
Well this is the end huh it's been a hell of a ride clement and I'm glad to be a part of it congrats Clement enjoy your long ass sonic hiatus you sure as hell deserve it congrats Clement thanks for everything
5:06 nice call back to the 06 review “OH GOD! I can see his eyes! I should NEVER have been able to see Dr. Eggman’s eyes! Now I know that they’re blue....”
Kinda wish they made an actual Mario Sonic crossover where Mario and Sonic meet and team up to stop both Bowser and Eggman where i guess they supposedly team up to try to take over the world or something and Mario and Sonic has to stop them and you know even if it's just this once.
end of an era right before the decade ends, what a fucking journey, been with it ever since I was a literal fucking child lol, quite bitter sweet, thank you clement for everything
Never thought I see the day where the Sonic Retrospective is over. I remember jumping in late, seeing all his videos from the beginning, and now we're at the end of the road until the next Sonic game is announce.
I can't believe you actually covered all Sonic games ever. Good job Clement! I'm proud of you I've been subscribed to your channel since 2012 so it really feels like an achievement!
I agree with this video. I loved the Mario and Sonic series, but ever since Sochi, it seems like SEGA has been giving less and less effort with each go at the series. Why guest characters again? Why no fun extra multiplayer mode like Festival or London Party? And especially the lack of remixes in this one! Those amazing remixes from previous games was something I always looked forward to in the series. Even Rio had great remixes.
Yeah, it does have many set backs... But they thankfully took a step in the right direction, which is important for not only an Olympiad series, but as a representation for an event taking place in their home turf of Japan. Hopefully, if they do make another one in 2-4 years from now, we’ll have something that’ll rival the likes of the London 2012 Edition.
You did it. You caught up. As someone who's been watching the Sonic Retrospective since near the beginning, I'm amazed we've lived to see this day. Good job. I look forward to whatever you decide to do next.
Oh my god, I’m not ready for this. I’ve been watching since late middle school. This man taught me to love Sonic Heroes, it’s my favorite Sonic title and I always rewatch his playthrough. I’m not- *im not ready goddammit*
The Story mode of this game made me wish for an actual Mario and Sonic platformer crossover. The idea of being Sonic and Mario or Luigi and Tails seems like a great idea for a platformer.
Man it’s over (until the next game) can’t believe your all up to date. I remember watching your LP of Tails adventure all the way back when I was a little kid and loved your commentary and I certainly remember the SHUT UP moment. Thanks to you I gave Mega man a try and I really enjoy them and when it comes to Sonic this is the one place where I know I can find something positive to watch. Obviously when the Sonic game comes out that’s next but I wouldn’t mind seeing things about the tv shows or the Archie and IDW comics even for Mega man but whatever it is I’ll definitely tune in for it. Happy Holidays Great Clement.
Wow, can't believe the Retrospective is practically over. I remember coming home from school and watching his Adventure LP's and Shadow all the time. I'm going to miss it.
I'm glad you're all caught up, but I'm kind of sad, too. This retrospective means a lot to me. The first Let's Play I ever watched was your playthrough of Sonic Riders. Your love of this franchise and the way you would talk about these games convinced me to get Sonic Generations back when it was new, and that made me a fan of Sonic, myself. It was through this channel that I discovered Somecallmejohnny and BrainScratch. Growing up in a community where nobody really plays video games unless they're COD or GTA, I never really had that many people who I had anything in common with, but after finding your LPs through a random RU-vid search, I was able to discover this whole wonderful, terrible world of gamers, and I'd say it's changed my life. I owe a lot to you and your channel, so thank you, Clement. Thank you for this retrospective and thank you for all of your other amazing content. I'm looking forward to your next video. Whatever it may be.
Hard to believe Clement's finally caught up. Of course I'd like to assume this isn't the end of Sonic on your channel, but it's quite surreal to see that he's finally up to date. It's been a pleasure. Although I wonder what was up with the cliffhanger at the end....
Clement! Congratulations on finally catching up and finishing this thing! I've been watching since 2011. Your Sonic '06 retrospective still feels like it just came out yesterday. Cheers!
Two things I’d think I’d never see in a video game review -METAL Sonic taking part in AQUATIC sports - Dr. Eggman punching the ever living SHIT out of Princess Peach
I find it funny that the final vid of you're sonic retrospective was mario and sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games, a crossover with sonic's old rival, how fitting of a ending.
It's also really funny that the real life 2020 Olympic games got cancelled because of covid, now this game aged bizarrely because of that, i just find it funny.
I think it was Miyamoto who doesn't want an actual crossover platform/adventure game involving Mario and Sonic because he can't see/figure out how to have both playstyles in one game. So instead we have Olympics.
GoGojiraGo It be best If they Did like The Mario and Luigi games and make it like an RPG and Mario and Sonic can use combo moves Like Mario kicking Sonic like a Football Into enemies
That’s the official reason. I agree that a platformer wouldn’t work unless they isolated when you played as each character which would defeat the purpose Still I’d still rather have an RPG or racing game over the Olympics
I remember back when you posted that one video where you made one last look back before you began LPing the post 2D Era Sonic games and MAN, was that really all the way back in 2009?! (I was still in college back then, omg...) Well, congrats on finally being with the now. You’ve fully earned that Sonic Fan Belt full stop. 👏🏻🏆
It is quite surreal to see this technically reaching "an end". We know we're getting a new game sooner or later, but after 7 years (i started watching right when the Sonic 06 review ended) of consistent updates and videos, it's just odd seeing the series of videos, if not done, at least on the of not being a retrospective anymore, but just LP's
They could've easily made the medal collecting fun by adding eggman nega events after collecting a certain amount of medals. The events would be some crazy version of already existing ones but atleast it would be kind of new.
Clement I'm pretty sure that the option for motion control and button mashing wasn't included to appease people that dislike motion control but to allow people with switch lites to play the game and not limit the game to just the regular switch.
I think I'll like this game for about a dozen hours, then come back to it occasionally. Hopefully it gets marked down by the time I get my switch in like a year.
I just found out about this channel and I gotta say the reviews in general are very intriguing to see, hopefully this isn’t the actual end of this channel because I just got into it, and even if their isn’t any sonic games to review yet they’re other games from different franchises which I think would be intriguing to watch
I guess the only thing left is the Sonic the Hedgehog movie coming out next year. Of course, you'll only legally have trailer footage to work with until it comes out on DVD & Blu-ray. So maybe it'll be a while before we get that depending on what you want to work with. Guess until then you can work on other stuff. See ya for whatever you have planned next.
I've been watching this channel since i found it through the BSC playthrough of Sonic Generations... that was 8 years ago. I was 13?? The Sonic retrospective has always just kinda been there for me, what are we all gonna do now? (also I think it's about time you revisited City Escape Act 1, it's been long enough 🤔)
I have a confession to make. I wasn't gonna add this because I noticed something else we did wrong (we didn't use to not want to play good Mario and/or Sonic game after finishing the story, I meant) but I want to want to(it's not a double writing mistake; I don't want to play the game again) play this game again because it gives actual fun education for more of those ten or older and I love Japan.
Headcanon: The reason why the Miis are absent from the game is because they're in lockdown due to Covid-19. Mario and Sonic decided to go ahead with the 2020 Olympics anyway even though the actual Olympics got postponed.
I was wonderjng if you would do one more video capping off the Sonic series, a la Goodbye, Classic Sonic right before you did Sonic Adventure. (Which I remember. ....Man I'm old.) Also, lookin' good Clement!
The retro events can’t help but remind me of edgy sprite animations from this site and Newgrounds. I’m half expecting hyper realistic blood to pop out of Toad.
The irony of you finally catching up to the modern games is that now you can't make a joke about the the game's title being wrong. If only you got here a couple months later!
