Okay so that last game with all the motion controls wasn't so hot. But now all of your favourite Sega Superstars are heading to the tennis court and you know what? Not too shabby! This game is for Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii, and the DS.
Did you all notice those recycled voice clips from '06 were mostly from the beginning of the game? Not even the company who made it wanted to play through it again.
i love the opening movie for Super Stars Tennis - there was an electronics shop at the time that would leave the opening on repeat because it was colourful and showed the tech off i guess.
About your Mario Power Tennis complaint: Every character had a defensive and offensive special move, the defensive move would help the character return the ball if it was out of range or if they werent going to be able to hit it back to the opponent and the offensive move would do something unique to each character and send the ball flying towards the opponent. It gave a little bit of a strategy element to the matches and whether or not you wanted to use your special meter for an offensive or defensive special move
And I don't like it. I'm cool with offensive moves, but If they wanna score on me they need to hit the ball. When I make a good shot that gets immediately ruined by a magic "NOPE" button, I don't have any sense of accomplishment. It drags things out and it's annoying. And I know it could be turned off in multiplayer. But not when you're going for the trophies in single player. I hated everytime the CPU took away the 15 points I thought I had. It wasn't as fun to me as going for trophies in Tennis N64. Or Sega Superstars.
Fair enough, I was just clearing up that whole system for you and other viewers. It does kinda drag things out and gets annoying in the really difficult tournaments. On a side note, its awesome you replied and I love your LP's and reviews. Great work on the video and I love all the Unleashed fakeouts. Your one of my favorite LP'ers, have a great evening
I got this game because I wanted something more complex than on Wii Sports. It's actually pretty good. It even helped me understand how tennis works, especially the weird scoring system.
nothing is more satisfying than hearing Sonic's afterburner-esque running speed. why cant they show that off more in his own games? he is the speed of sound after all!
A bunch of my friends and I last year went out and bought this game for the 360 and had Sega Superstars Tennis tournaments online and it was the most fun we had with Sega in a long time.
I really miss playing this game! I have it on my PS2, but like, I never forgot my true memories I had playing this game when I was little! It’s been YEARS AND YEARS since I even got on my PS2 anyway. But I’m worrying about Nintendo in the present rn since I’m a HUGE fan of them! I wish I had it on my Wii or something but yeah. I miss those days myself. 😊
so much nostalgia, I would love to get this game if it wasn't for the fact that its a tennis game, if this was more like super smash bros. but with sega characters then omg I would buy it then buy it again!
I do own this game, but I never really gave it too much time. I'm not too certain as to why I've done that with the majority of my game collection, but I do. Thanks for helping me remember this game (Space Channel 5 FTW, by the way, it looks so interesting).
happy 12th anniversary sega superstars tennis!!! i love the sega superstars series and hope we get a new one that's a platformer(along with including other sega series like persona,skies of arcadia,bayonetta,virtua fighter,burning rangers,toejam and earl,puyo puyo character wise,fantasy zone,phantasy star,rhythm thief and dinosaur king.:3)
If I ever get a new 360, I'd be more than happy to play against you in Super Stars Tennis. TBH i was not much of a big fan of tennis, but I do like this game. Not only can you hit Sliver I think you can also hit those item boxes as well. Also please post more of you playing as Eggman in the Puyo Puyo mini game.
If you haven't yet, go to settings>general>umpire voice, and change it to crazy. It's pretty much just DJ Professor K narrating every single match and it's god damn glorious.
The Great Clement, I can play a tennis game AND judge it as well. For instance, if Sonic & Shadow win everything, I would announce: "GAME, SET & MATCH: SONIC & SHADOW!". Since I have a Wii and DS, I would get that game for either system and play it effectively.
And don't worry guys, I'm pretty sure he's doing both the Wii and 360 versions of Unleashed. He should know that they're two completely different games in terms of everything except music and story (along with Empire City and the Mazuri stages). He won't disappoint us. :)
I got the feeling that he is going to do a playthrough of Megaman ZX and ZX Advent, just to keep us waiting that much longer, now that he has some means to record DS games too, just to keep Unleashed "next on the list" as long as possible.
Had this on Wii, and then switched over to the PS3 version. Sometimes, the Wii version (which may come as no surprise) had some control hiccups every now and again, but it wasn't terrible. I still play this game every now and again, but only if I feel the need to play a SEGA All-Stars game that isn't the racing series. I do love this game, but I've 100%'d it already.
FYI clement, you can play on your old file on New Game + for Sonic Chronicles and you'll still be set up for the end-game, so most of the game will be super easy to handle.
Did you know that in the jet set radio minigame if you hit the guy who throws the spray cans he will drop a jet set radio icon which will give 800 or 1000 points I forgot how much it was
This game looks pretty good. I should like to try this game out sometime.....but maybe not in the wii...unless there's a classic or GameCube controller opinion.

oh yeah, I played this game before I ever played Sonic 06, sp when I did play Sonic 06 I was like "ooooooh, so that's where all these sound clips come from"
I guess he wasn't kidding. Lots of appearances between '06 and Unleashed, though I didn't think he would cover ALL appearances. Next thing you know, he will cover easter egg appearances to stretch it out further. Hmmm, when did the first All Star Racing come out...
Oh and I see he has both the Wii and 360 version of Sonic Unleashed. I wonder if he'll cover both. Something like a full playthrough of the 360 version with all the cut scenes and then just show the stages of the Wii version.
Is the game still available, gosh I miss it so much.. If I could, I would go back to the past and play it again with my brother ;-; but he grew up to throw it out and we stopped playing games together because of our massive age difference!
I'm really curious about what you have to say about Sonic Chronicles, and most important of all, the ending... I mean, I played the game, I know how it is (My god...) but your reaction about that has to be quite amusing, to say the least.
The voices remind me of other sports-mascot games, the sound clips do repeat a lot, specially when scoring a with special moves and stuff, one game I always remember for doing this will be Mario Sports Mix...
I had this game when my dad bought his Xbox 360 in early 2010.but he gave the Xbox 360 to me and my brother a year later and we got DBZ Ultimate Tenkaichi When that game came out and We got sonic generation a month later.
For those who are wondering when Sonic Unleashed is coming, I'm here to put you out of your misery. About a year ago, Clement sent me a list of all the Sonic games he is planning to do, IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER. And Sonic Unleashed is immediately after Sonic Chronicles, Unleashed being released just under 2 months after Chronicles. Not that long to wait. No doubt Clement will do some dramatic funny bit where we hear the hallelujah chorus or something when he announces Unleashed
