In this very fragrant video I'm gana show you just how easy it is to make a Lilac (Syringa) bloom tincture & jabber all about her amazing abilities! • I promise you are absolutely smart enough to do this!
Just seeing this two years after posting, so no one will probably see this comment. As someone with a healthcare/ science background, everything she says about the physical properties of the plant and the process of making this is totally accurate. She isn't making things up at all. I can't verify the health claims of course first hand but the logic seems sound. I am totally subscribing just based on the fact that she hasn't made anything up in this video and is extremely knowledgeable about what she says.
Girl. I was outside locking at my lilac bush. I was thinking she is so pretty. I wonder if i could do something with it. Later i settled in for the evening i clicked on yt. Your video popped up. God is Good. I liked b4 i heard one word. I knew you were going to teach.
My beloved grandmother Lolly took so much pride in her beautiful lilacs, this video is making me cry thinking of her! We had no idea they were edible, I wish she was here to share this with me! Thank you so much ❤️
How lovely. My mother is called Aunty Lolly by her goddaughter who mispronounced her name 'Olive'. It stuck, years later many of that side of the family call my Mum Lolly.
My grandma always soaked them in honey and lemon juice. Told us drink this lemonade, it is good for you". I didnt know until years later that she was right lol. I never made a tincture from them, though. I just assumed since grandma used honey and lemon that was all that was needed to get all of their medicinal properties!
There's lavender lemonade, and hibiscus tea, echanacia chamomile, (I think I spelled echanacia wrong)😂 and botanical kombuchas, elderberry tonics and juices out there now some of the floral juices are pretty good. And I even see edible flowers more often now. I had cupcakes with edible flowers on top and rose oil infused in the icing. And edible orchids. People are finally starting to realize how useful and beneficial plants are though other cultures like Chinese medicine has been using plants since 300 bc and Native American people of course. My grand mom used beets and brown onions to dye Easter eggs. I think this stuff is fascinating. ❤🌿🌺🌸🪴🌼🌾
This couldnt have come at at better time! I've just harvested a beautiful basket from my garden and local area in the UK! Thank you SO much, you've helped boost my confidence so much!
AAAARRRGGGHHHH! I checked all over April's RU-vid and insta when my lilacs bloomed, and now they've just finished, now there's the video I needed. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thank you, April. Our lilacs in New Hampshire (our state flower) are starting to bloom. I've never seen any medicinal info on them before. Great timing!
You talking about finding a lilac in the middle of nowhere reminded me of the one in the middle of the woods in Acadia National Park. Since it was originally Rockefeller land, guaranteed it had once been by an outhouse 😂
I found your channel about a month ago and I have to say, you are the herbalist I strive to become. I'm just learning but your confidence boost and the swears keep it light and so fun. 😂 Your energy is amazing and your random babbles so informative! I really am loving it!
Rockin the Irish tan! 😜 I’m not far behind you! Lilacs are my very favorite flower, I had a MASSIVE Bush of them at the property I rent and the year I moved here the NEIGHBOR cut it all the way to the ground. It’s been 6 years and I still flush with rage about it. The audacity! Wasn’t even his yard!
I love lilacs and feel you rage BUT my neighbor has one and is allergic to it. She has't cut it down. Is it possible you ex-neighbor is allergic to it? I can't imagine anyone being so hateful towards a lilac to actually cut it down - unless it was causing them great pain.
I don't think people understand all plant life is a living thing with same needs and feelings as animals which include us but some people don't accept we are from animal kingdom.
@@terrykelley9404 usually severe allergies. Some flowers actually give me horrific migraines that no medication prevents or helps with, and I always want to destroy those flowers due to the pain they cause me.
I love your energy and who you are as a person. I’ve never seen anyone else make herbalism videos with the same vibe as you. Usually I hate when people make long videos and they don’t just stick with the recipe, but you’re an incredible storyteller and you’re very engaging. All of your stories were also very important to listen to. I’m a beginner in my herbalism journey.. although a few years in.. I still have so much to learn. I discovered lilacs in my neighborhood and I will be picking them for my own tincture! I’ll use this recipe. Thank you so much. I think we’d be great friends in real life haha! You’re just so real, fun and magnetic. You have a special aura to you, my friend. Have a blessed day! Thank you for sharing all this information for free ❤
Call it fate or whatever but I was scrolling and saw this and went “huh, this could be interesting!” And I’m so glad I decided to watch this. You’re amazing! My boyfriend and I have a few health issues and he was talking the other day about going completely herbal and he was wanting me to learn how to make things that could benefit the both of us. So I found it interesting how you came across my “suggested feed”. Totally gonna have to watch more videos and see what else I can learn. Much love lady! ❤
Omg. I picked some lilac the other day. Then tried to find something to do with it! Everybody does syrup. Your reading my mind. I wished you had this the other day.
My mother loved lilacs and so do I it’s so hard to walk away when your smelling them. I love your channel when your shop opens or you do an Amazon thing I will be glad to purchase something because your knowledge is priceless and you ask nothing.
This could NOT have come at a better time! ive been in severe adrenal fatigue for years now! Opti adrenal supplements worked for a while but im BARELY keeping my head above wated. This is amazing!!
@@sheisofthewoods I most definitely will!! Dr Brimhall worked great for a while but my body still hasn't taken over like its supposed to :/ Looking now, thanks Mama!
Ancestral Supplements also has a liver supplement that helped me immensely. We also lightly cook liver as well and just amazing energy coming along. Best to you~
I absolutely love your style what you have on is super cute! And also thanks for sharing i love videos like this it’s so educational I can watch this stuff all day lol 💚🤞🏾
I didn’t realize I even had a lilac, we bought the property in 2017 and the yard had been very neglected. Six years of watering the lawn adjacent to some overgrown bushes, and book lilac blooms this year! They did not last long though.
Lmao! That privy fact is hilarious! BAD DAY indeed to lose a pistol to the shitter! At least lilac got to keep all that cool stuff (hilarious sentiments included) safe for all these years
Wish I had known about the glycerin when I made a Lilac tincture a few years back. Still I only have a small amount left and can now make it your way. Thank you.
I could watch your videos all day! I love how you always say "you're smart enough to do this" because I do get intimidated by this so thank you!!! I appreciate all the knowledge you pass on.
Your name reminds me of a wonderful friend who was a surprise twin when she was born. Her parents didn't have a name for her. Her dad went for a walk just after she popped out and noticed that it was a very misty morning. He went back and told her mommy, 'Her name is Misty Dawn.'
Oh my gosh! I am so grateful to you.... I’ve looked before on lilac tinctures/oils and today I prepared my lilacs and needed more guidance so once again turned to you tube and you came up. This is the perfect lesson I needed and makes total sense. I have both glycerin and vodka and everclear. Now I know to not use the everclear. You are amazing and thank you so much for sharing. I am happy happy happy. Blessings 🦋
So happy to see this! My lilacs bloom so early so all I have right now is my little dwarf lilac which I was planning on creating my tincture this week anyways. Love your videos and so glad I watched you this morning as I didn’t know about the glycerin! Now to go buy some. Have a great weekend April!
Thank you for this video April! I have four big lilac trees and had no idea that lilacs had any medicinal value! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us....I sure appreciate you!
Thank you for this! I'm loving that you've been covering so many of the medicinal plants that are currently in bloom and all around me! I need to buy some glycerine and will need to get some locally so that I can make my tincture asap before my lilacs are past their prime. Any recommendations on the best type of stores to purchase it?
My gosh I can not say it enough. I love you April, so much. From your encouragement, your incredibe knowledge & that smile & laugh! I wish I could just hug you. You do not know how happy that I am that you were brought into my life. Thank you so much for being who you are & doing what you do. I am grateful 🙏
I have fond memories of lilacs myself. I had a swing at my grandmother's farm that hung from the cherry tree that grew by the gate that was placed at the end of the row of lilacs that ran all the way from the road to the farmhouse. The cherry tree was a very chatty cherry tree too... she passionately loved the sky and enthusiastically regaled me with her love stories! I didn't realize that at the time of course, i just thought i was having my own private thoughts, hahaha. So anyway, it makes absolute sense that i should make some of this lilac tincture, especially because, thanks to that memory, every time i use it i will be infusing myself with Life! & Love! Just what my doctor ordered!! Actually i just wanted to ask you a question, so if you've suffered through all my pre-question babble then here it is: i've got some 'Swedish Bitters' dried herbs in vodka and some in spiced rum (because i thought why not and now i know why not, omg i will never do that again!!) I've also got a gallon of fire cider made with half commercial acv and half homemade acv. They've been doing their thing for a few months now and i just syphon off a weeks worth at a time and then top it back off because i just don't feel like f---ing around with straining them. Do you know anything about doing it like that! Like could all the plant matter be decomposing and releasing toxic gases into the mix or something that i'm then guzzling down?? I do shake them up pretty regularly. Sorry for such a lengthy 'comment' here, i am just no good at keeping it brief and to the point... i once had a friend who called me Babylon because i babbled on and on and on....
I love your vibe! This looks so interesting. I need to get some lilac growing in my garden 💜 Also that dress color looks amazing on you! Where did it come from?
OMG I had no idea that lilacs had medicinal qualities! Thank you so much for sharing this… BTW can you recommend a place to get vegetable glycerin in bulk?
I’m in!! I just stumbled upon your channel and I’m just so happy hearing you speak! I deeply appreciate how well you share your knowledge. It inspires trust. You have been told, no doubt, but you’ve got a beautiful aura and persona. Just warm, friendly and I’d love to be someone in your sphere. You seem so generous with information that is hard earned. Thank you, truly, love love love your way 🙏🏻
I just found this channel and love it already! Thank you April for this fun, informative, and easy to follow video. May the sun always shine on your path.
