There was a normal rainbow in the end. Upside down rainbows indicate timefall. Extinction is over. The world can now get back to normal. Lou can live a normal life, and sam can be a dad. Being a dad was what he was afraid of forever, and cliff was that symbolism of fatherhood. He was literally fighting against fatherhood. Seeing cliffs story caused him to relate, and he finally saw the beauty of being a father. Bridget is split in half. Half on earth, and she is also amelie on the beach. When bridget killed sam, amelie healed him out of guilt. Sam came back to life on earth, and bridget raised him as her own

Lou has Amelie's quipu because she brought Lou back from her beach and the rain is not timefall anymore because Amelie disconnected her beach from the world. Amelie caused the Death Stranding by bringing Sam back from his beach. She upset the balance between life and death. Sam's journey to reconnect america was just for Amelie to carry out the Last Stranding as her duties as an EE, as you said. By disconnecting her beach, she delayed the Last Stranding. When you think about it, there are no villains in this story, only desperate humans. Higgs was manipulated by Amelie to lure Sam all the way to Edge Knot City, because only then will America be complete.

"bridge to the future" Think of it this way, without sam, and Cliffs passion to save him, Cliff might not have been able to come back and continue on his hunt to save BB. So in a round about way Sam is the reason Cliff has made it to the future to continue to protect his child. Not so much with the time travel ideas :P

The final delivery for you seems like it was rough, as it was for me with the first delivery, dealing with a Mother (since i mentioned when you started this palythrough, I lost my Mother quite some time ago). One thing I liked about this game, really makes you look at life a bit, and really understand the value of it.

I told you guys the ending would be worth it! Kojima tends to always find a way to wrap it up in the end, even if it looks like he's going a bit off the rails at first! I haven't watched this ending since I played last, and man, now that my Girlfriend and I are seriously considering trying for a baby, it hits a little different. I can't even begin to imagine how it feels as a parent! Glad you guys stuck with this one, I know it can be a bit clunky at times! It's all worth it to see Die-Hardman finally able to act! In my eyes, he's the standout performance in this game, by far.

game was wonderful and probably my favorite experience ever in gaming. That ending was such a roller coaster. What I found crazy was that I actually ended up understanding everything.

Should have seen my smile when I saw the title of the video :) I'll add in more to this later - let's watch :D "I'm gonna kill you with love, dammit" :D Yeah, you got this right at the end - Bridget/Amelie was an EE by destiny not by choice. She wasn't a "bad guy" per se, it was just kinda who she was. She wanted Sam to stop her, but if he didn't she would fast forward the event to get it overwith as it is inevitable anyway. Sam stopping her put the whole thing on hold and she cuts her beach loose, so in the end the Death Stranding has been averted, no more BTs, no more voidouts, no more timefall, no more inverted rainbows with no blue in them. The baby BBs in the end are ourworldly ghosts of actual BBs that have been incinerated. Note that Sams BB, BB-28, Lou, Louise - does not take that appearance, nor its strand to the other side - that BB has the cord of a living ending up as a regular BT, or as the strand of Sam while he is in the Seam to repatriate. The gun was the item that connected them all, allowing the rescue party. Also note that Mama dying is required for the ending to work, because she was part of the other side while maintaining the connection with Lockne. No dead Mama, no rescue party. When sam gets to his beach, he has the Doll, same as Cliff had (remember, "Amelie brought Sam and Cliff together *again*", and same as DieHardMan had, and same as Higgs had - it was "that other technology" that enabled travel to Amelies beach - not the real baby that made Sam a repatriate. Cliff had the scar too, so Amelie made Cliff a "repatriate" but only on the beach - in the end he turns away having finally finished his business. Did you notice a couple of times earlier, specifically in the end of the Vietnam scene if you want to rewatch it, that Sam is having BB flashbacks - without BB actually being plugged in? Also, Sam continues Cliffs wistling of BBs theme - how would he know that song? By these two solid hints, it's possible to conclude early that Sam is Cliffs son, with the later just being confirmation reveals. So who is BB-28 then? Most speculate it's either Sam without getting the pieces to fit, or that it is "just another random BB". It doesn't really matter, most players experience a great ending, no matter what conclusion they end up with. Cliff is looking for his BB, right? Did you notice how Sam has no BB on the beach, but fragile brings it to him? Otherwise, this whole thing would have been given away - Sam on the cliff with Amelie, and Cliff on the Beach screaming for BB and Bridget pointing to the cliff. No BB - would have been a massive reveal for those paying attention. Avoided by very clever writing. In the end of the Vietnam scene, Cliff realizes that Sam is the one he has been looking for all the time, not his BB which is what he remembers. If continuing playing or restarting, you might want to cheat and obtain the full set of Lucy's report online: deathstranding.fandom.com/wiki/Lucy_Strand (link near end). She *is* undamaged in the photo in the start for a few frames until timefall hits it causing it to age. Now, here is where the story possibly makes some untold twists. *** SPECULATIVE SPOILERS BELOW *** Louise is Sams real flesh and blood daughter (read Lucy's report). And he almost incinerated her twice - beginning and end. Sam and Louise are not "real" BBs, they're "broken" (ref Igor and Deadman in the beginning), and became human because their bonds with their stillmother got severed. This is why they can both live outside the pod. Furthermore, Louise has DOOMS - to the level where it can drive Sams odradek - and has inherited Sams repatriation abilities. Take a look at the first voidout/beach scene and exactly how that plays out with BB-28 ending up on Sams beach (impossible without a strong connection), going invisible, leaving black steps towards its Sea(m) where it goes to repatriate (same as Sam does moments later). In this world, BB-28 is back in the pod when Sam repatriates. Same happens in the very end. Louise is really fully dead, but "time works differently in the Seam", it's just doing its repatriation thing, then coming back to life but this time outside the pod. In the last Cliff end scene, you start as a "BB who has severed his connection to the stillmother" (Lisa, Cliff killed her as she was braindead), in a Seam like way - you start near the pod and have to "find your body" again by finding your body on Cliff. Similar to in the Seam, but you're just "reconnecting", not "repatriating". If you "accept" this as a theory (I'm just speculating, I'm not claiming it to be the truth), now go back and watch all the cutscenes and see if everything regarding BB-28/Lou fits this narrative. I think it does, more so that simply leaving things unexplained. The writers/devs has made a solid backstory on Lucy that is near impossible to obtain. Why would they have a solid backstory if it wasn't important? Why would it be hard to find unless designed to leave us speculating? As mentioned in several cutscenes: Why is BB-28 so special? Why is it above paygrade info? Why can no records of *it* be found? "It's all in Igors records". I'm betting it "died" in the Voidout with Lucy, only to keep repatriating until found and put *very* secretly into the BB program. Remember the astronaut was on both BBs pod and Sams pod. So, same pod? All coincidence? I'm not buying it.

Hoo boy here we go. :D VERY enjoyable playthrough from you two. The ending is such a trip, especially the aspect of staying and waiting for the extinction with Amelie, among other things. Also the twist with Cliff was so well done.

Okay so huge info dump down below you have been warned. On the beach with Amelie if you choose to do nothing Amelie causes the Last Stranding and you get a game over screen, only hugging Amelie is the correct choice. I should mention that when Amelie resurrected BB Sam and caused him to become a repatriate she also unintentionally caused the Death Stranding as she ‘upset the balance of life and death’ the reason why Sams blood harms BT’s is because he is the cause of the Death Stranding and his blood and other fluids send them back to the world of the dead. Sam Strand is technically Sams adopted name his real name is Sam Bridges (his mothers name was Lisa Bridges) and had Cliff escaped with BB Sam his name would’ve been Sam Unger or more specifically Samuel Unger. I think you’ve figured this out by now but Lou or should I say Louise is a completely seperate BB from Sam (BB’s only last for a year after all) but one of the hidden logs in the game from Sam’s wife (Lucy Strand) imply that Louise could be Sams biological child. Deadman man made a mistake Sams biological child was actually a girl going to be named Louise but even in the womb Sam gave her the nickname Lou. Feel free to ask me anymore questions I’ll try my best to answer them. Edit: Small thing I'd like to add its not anything important but Die-Hardman's full name is actually John Blake McClane.......................yes that's his actual name

So a while a passed. Did you pick up the game again? Did you research the (far too well hidden) Lucy's report? My theory is that BB-28 is Sam's real daughter, inherited repatriation from Sam and DOOMS from Sam and Lucy. So you damn near incinerated your own daughter twice in this game. How's that for a sick twist that is non obvious? :) Which makes BB-28 a higher level DOOMS sufferer than Sam. Neither Sam or BB-28 was ever a working BB. Projection is one of the DOOMS abilities, and BB-28s projection ability is what makes Sam see BTs - since it's not a properly working BB (ref Igor and Deadman) - yet for Sam it "works" flawlessly (but by other means). When Lucy causes a voidout due to her suicide (which is why Sam handcuffs himself to the bed due to the DOOMS nightmares) from getting DOOMS from Bridget, BB-28 don't die - it keeps repatriating until found in the ruins. Ref how there are no records of this particular one (BB-28), info above paygrade, buried records and so on. Why is *this* one so damned secret? In a *LOT* of the cutscenes, clues to this are presented. But this part of the mystery (who is BB-28?) is never even presented until you start digging. In the beginning of the game, you can even see BB-28's repatriation sequence - going into the sea/seam to repatriate, leaving tar footprints as a BT. When Sam gets back - BB-28 is alive and well back in the pod. BB-28 keeps coming back no matter how badly Sam dies - even if eaten by a BT and creating a crater. In the end, BB-28 is dead, but repatriates carrying a gift from Amelie (quipu). Amelie didn't make BB-28 come back to life. Surely she wouldn't do that mistake twice, knowing what happened the last time she *made* Sam a repatriate. BB-28 could not share Sams beach without having a strong connection, and what is stronger than a father/daughter relationship? I guess being conjoined twins? So even the Mama/Lockne story connects to Sam/BB-28. Unrelated, but Mama had to die in order for the rescue party to work. Nuts crazy. Notice how in a few cutscenes you get BB-28 flashbacks without BB-28 being hooked up. Nobody spots this. Congrats on finishing the game! Can't imagine how that feels as a parent, watching these last scenes, they already hit like a ton of bricks even when you don't have kids... We were also in tears while watching that ending over here; I've seen a lot of people saying it was over-dramatic but I thought it was very good. I like to think Sam's gonna stay in contact with his friends now that Lou's alive and well, I was under the impression he mostly rejected Fragile's offer because he was upset about Lou dying. And then I made the mistake of reading the unlocked journal entries and I was like "Great! Now I'm sad again!!"
