The first half of the researcher's log has directed us towards the jungle sector of the station. A lush zone filled with a supercharged plant biomass that was meant to simulate nature. The disaster has caused extreme changes in the vegetation however.

Yet again, the world design is just full of personality and just very well thought out. Secret challenge rooms like that are definitely no joke, either! We're not at Super Meat Boy levels quite yet with those, but they're definitely indicating that they're not joking around. And to top things off, a three stage boss and some very interesting lore. For the three stage boss, I do like how we're seeing that constant escalation with bosses, you can't get too comfortable. And as for the lore, it definitely feels like a great tribute to Metroid while also being its own thing. This boss and the "gotta blow up the station" definitely have these touches of taking from Spore Spawn and the endgame of Metroid Fusion, and yet it doesn't feel like it's trying to imitate it, but rather as a love letter of sorts to its influences. Always can appreciate stuff like that.

Love letter to Metroid is pretty close to how I would describe the game but it has so many more layers of mystery still to be unveiled. It's quite hard to categorize! We may never see Super Meat Boy levels of platforming challenges but we'll see! The game is going to quickly ramp its 'lore" factor. Also yes the bosses in this game are excellent, they all feel unique and individualized versus just another copy and paste bullet hell or moving object trying to run into you. The multiple forms provide additional personality as well.

For as retro as the game looks relative to other games out there, this game nails atmosphere. It's one of the best parts of a Metroid game, and this definitely fits the bill of Metroidvania. The music box style music is quite a pleasant change of pace too. That grapple still looks tricky as heck to me but otherwise I'm quite impressed with this.

I would have to agree as one of my favorite aspects of any game is its atmosphere. It is incredible what can be done when everything (music, SFX, visuals, story, presentation) comes together in perfect harmony. The OST is fantastic and music box is accurate way to describe it for sure. Hookshot is probably the most difficult mechanic to deal with but I got you ;)
