► GRIS Story Synopsis
Gris is a hopeful young girl lost in her own world, dealing with a painful experience in her life. Her journey through sorrow is manifested in her dress, which grants new abilities to better navigate her faded reality. As the story unfolds, Gris will grow emotionally and see her world in a different way, revealing new paths to explore using her new abilities.
GRIS is a serene and evocative experience, free of danger, frustration or death. Players will explore a meticulously designed world brought to life with delicate art, detailed animation, and an elegant original score. Through the game light puzzles, platforming sequences, and optional skill-based challenges will reveal themselves as more of Gris’s world becomes accessible.
GRIS is an experience with almost no text, only simple control reminders illustrated through universal icons. The game can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of their spoken language.

Perhaps you should check out the "Sumbmachine" games made by Mateuzs Skutnik, they are "Area Escape Puzzle" games that have a very similar artstyle, albeit they're also more eerie and very hard at times to figure out without walkthroughs.

I already finished the game and wanted to watch it again in your perspective, but I couldn't even get past the first 20 minutes without crying. Just the memories of the game hit me so hard, I can't even watch a playthrough without crying...

About the title "Gris" being pronounced grease/griss, it's probably because it's a spanish dev studio who made the game and gris=grey both in spanish and french, although in spanish you'd say grease/griss, and not gree as in french. ps: this looks so good!

I was watching this at night the other day, and my screen reflected off the window to the left of my bed. During the sliding parts, the light-dark contrasts made it look like something was constantly moving past my window. Made the thing scarier than it had to be.

Absolutely gorgeous. I was wondering when Welonz gonna do niche game again. Dont get me wrong, her more mainstream LP is great, you've earned "I can do no wrong" achvement in my book. But welonz is my designated quirky youtuber, it just fits too well.

you shout your soul in a spray of ocean mist and tears of passion color the sky I'm really glad you picked this one up. I would never have even come across it. There's so much beauty here, so much ...love, intensity, art... this is amazing. The people who made it are amazing. I kind of needed this, so... thanks. The balanced rocks you keep breaking reminds me of a game hikers and rock climbers play - sort of like Jenga - you find them balanced somewhere on the trail and try to add to it.

The aesthetic reminds me of the movie 'Fantastic Planet', which I assume came out way before you were born but once it was one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time. Hopefully there are a few film buffs who know what I'm talking about.

A lot of the imagery is similar to Mateuzs Skutnik's "Submachine" (area escape puzzle) games. This is nowhere near as eerie (or unnerving at times) as those, though.

I think that the name of this game is pronounced "gree" as gris is French for grey. Which is appropriate for this game.

I'd thought she was just guessing the pronunciation, and french words in game titles, ESPECIALLY artsy ones, is so prevalent that I felt it was a safe enough assumption. I'm still somewhat surprised it's pronounced like that, regardless, considering the many similarities French and Spanish have.
