Finally, someone is playing this game for a long run. Thanks man, I learn better when watching someone else plays and explains mechanics to me, so this is perfect!

I noticed this playlist this week and wanted to return to the game. Started playing a bit yesterday and here is my experience, so far: I chose Stettin as my hometown (year 1300). Fairly quickly I noticed the city needs. Mainly Cloth, Iron goods, Skins, Meat, Leather, Wine and Wool. Secondary Pottery, pitch, whale oil and honey. To start off I had 2 main objectives, increase my fleet and fulfill city needs. I used a bit of the same strategy as you. Started mass producing level 3 crayers, filling them with large and small catapults, and cutlasses. When it comes to the economy I divided my products in high profit and low profit. Beer, Cloth, Iron goods and skins was my main source of income. Meat, Leather, Wool and so on was mostly to cover city needs. Therefore I did not make as much money on them early on, but it helped my city grow, which in turn increases demand for goods. After just a few months the pirate Beneke started attacking my ships. But I was prepared. He attacked a convoy with a fully armed level 3 crayer. Damaged him to about 50% health and then I boarded him. This gave me another level 3 crayer pretty early in the game, which gave a boost. Used it to purchase Wine in Bruges and cologne, and later on iron goods in Scarborough and Edinburgh. Another thing worth mentioning, taking down a pirate was noticed throughout the entire hanseatic leage. I got a reputation boost and cities all over gave me building permits :) In the future I will hunt pirates early to get a lots of building permits. When you take out the first pirate, your competitors starts to give their ships to pirates. If you have a fully armed level 3 crayer with 28 (full) crew (remember cutlasses for advantage in boarding), you can capture ships from the pirates. I got 2 crayers and 2 cogs from pirates during the first half year or something. Also want to mention that the weapon smith is linked to your shipyard. The more experience the shipyard gets, the better cannons the weaponsmith will produce. Check in to the weapon smith once in a while to see if it has better cannons, and to see if the production has stopped due to lack of needed goods. Later on I made convoys, 2 crayers in each and 2 cogs in one for big cargo. I made sure to always have 200-300 k gold in my pocket so that I did have enough money for stocking up goods in case of good deals. I.e 200 iron goods and 100 skins are easily 120 - 150k gold in goods. When it comes to production, I started off with: Lubeck: Timber and Tiles Stettin: Grain and Beer (later on timber and salt for meat in Gdansk) Gdansk: Leather and Meat Stockholm: Timber, Irone ore and Iron goods Visby: Wool and cloth Reval: Skins Cologne: Wine Later in the game I will also produce fish, whale oil, honey, pottery, pitch and hemp. But I find that the city demand for theese goods are met by other traders early in the game. Eventually, when the cities grows large enough, you need to produce everything to have enough supply to meet the demand. This turned out to be a starter guide. lol. Hopefully you find some of this information useful :)

I really wish they made a open source re-implementation of this wonderful game, like they've done for Caesar 3 (Julius and Augustus).

Playing Port Royale 4 on PS5 and switch, and just bought a new budget notebook + Patrician 3 at 99 cents. I found simulations to be one of my favourite genres together with western RPGs. Chill and challenging at the same time

I love Patrician III. The physical copy of the game included a very fancy chart with very useful information like the recommended max and minimum buying and selling prices of all goods, and IIRC a map with the goods that every city produces so you know exactly where to go and what to buy there. I could never play the game without having it open. For me, the fastest strategy once I had enough money was to go north and buy all the skins I could and sell them south for more than twice the price. By far the most profitable item in the game.

You can change the game speed actively using + - keys on the keyboard. This will help a lot to set your own pace in game without having to rely too much on the calendar ultra speed which many times can lead to bad things that could be avoided.

if you start in the year 1300 the captains are in torum and novgorod ^^ the good one in torum tho

You have better chances to meet captain in river towns like Novgorod, Torun and Cologne.

10 years to become mayor? I'm a lazy bum and go for pirate who plunders cities for fast cash but if you are experienced and play it slow you don't need more than two years.^^

Dear friends, I would like to ask about how can I be a Lord Mayor in Oslo, I am already an Alderman but I can not change candidute list because of there is no selection "accept candidute yes/no" in Oslo town hall. I do not know how can I enter candidute list in Oslo. People already accept to see me a Lord Mayor in town.

i have never played this. everyone says that this is better then patrician 4... so i think i will give a try. any tips?

...T en years is the target? To be mayor? You can be alderman in less than half that time lol.
