My water pumps are typically placed in the guard's breakroom. :D Criminals can only use the large pipes to dig deeper into the prison and towards the cops.

When i plan on a certain type of prison, i actually plan out the entire thing from the start. With some kind of modular progression.

A good tip on getting a lot of money through 1 grant: Get Bank Loans, loan 10.000, have 30 prisoners, get a negative daily cashflow and have less than 500 in the bank with at least 1 grant available. Enjoy Goverment Bailout

they should add air conditioning to the game and vents that go through walls like water pipes, though prisoners can use them for escape.

Hot water also makes showers and sinks work faster and keeps the moods of prisoners up.

This is definitely the best Prison Architect video/tutorial video I have seen. all the others are like 1 hour long and achieve far less than you. Plus, they always record their audio on a flip phone.

Turning off auto lights is a pretty good tip. other than Quills' preference of making his prison dark, it saves quite a lot of money since they overkill it with the amount of lights they put. so putting your own light saves money and power

One thing you should know about dorms Quill, if there's not enough room per prisoner their privacy need will increase as if they were in a holding cell.

Awesome Prison Architect again! Just watched the preview Video from Marc and Chris, epic as ever :-) Shame I got my version from GOG so I can't get hold of the Beta :-( but release will be soon I hope! Looking forward to the Let's Play while watching a few HOI4 Videos you did aswell!

In the Beta (v2preview) visitor booths were missing from the game which broke it for me. I prefer booths for visitation, tables for parole. If you're gonna have a reception, I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all, but a jail door is needed. If your prisoners are left alone in the reception and a workmen comes by, bam, gone are your prisoners. Jail door cannot be opened by workmen. Easiest way to escape is to put final doors as staff doors.

Build your prison as safe as you can, and then escape from it to show yourself that this was pretty easy

If the off center sprites for metal detectors bug you, there is a mod on the workshop that fixes it. Also fixes tables, cookers, fridges, ect.

It is possible to place an actual shower room inside of the holding cell and have it count as completed. It's a little tricky sometimes, but it can be done.

You should have put a staff door. It adds security for your civilian cooks.

Staff doors are unlocked w/ staff keys, which the cooks have.

Yes cooks have keys but it pulls them away from the job that they're doing.

You can now place drains directly under the show heads to avoid flooding. You don't have to put them in entrances, although you surely can if you'd like.

Technically but you're splitting pennies. You might go for the less drains anyways to cut down on spaces they can hide contraband in though.

I always over fill my prisons by mistake and crowd them into the holding cell until late game when I can build actual cells but back to the story I did the holding cell cramming stat and I placed a vending machine in it and left for 5 minutes to take a shiet so I come back and it's on full speed and it's just a massive swarm on the vending machine and I have only 5 FPS because of it :P

acually, a holding cell is good to have. Gets your prisoners a temp cell when you'r clearing out their tunnels. Prisoners get upgraded if they are naughty aswell. Might not have room for more max sec after a big fight. Holding cell is there to buy you time :)

Holding cell tends to be temporary; they'll move guys out of it as space opens. Dorm beds can be fit in holding cell. Actual dormitory rooms are permanent, and while save space, allow pawns to coordinate better w/ tunnels and contraband. Might not want them together 24/7.

The are good at the start but they are pointless after you have a few prisoners and a good cash flow because you just build cells. Also the holding cell isn't included in cell count and intake

Bunk beds don't work in holding cells tho, only in dorm rooms.

Hey Quill, just a heads up. Notice the quick build tile in your toolbar. You could have easily built the offices with this. It saves a lot of time

To begin with, while just planning, you shouldn't pause, but close intake, then speed up the game... coz you're making money while not doing anything, and having 0 intake, even with employees (800ish) This doesnt matter if you're gonna start building pretty fast, but if youre slow and planning many details it might be a decent amount of money in the end

Please turn weather and temperature on. It feels kinda unrealistic with it off. The basic idea is just add some radiators to keep everything room temperature. You can also get snow and rain, which looks cool.

I like to have armed guards patrol the cell blocks, then if someone is naughty they can "remove" them so no riots start.

Metal detectors always had this weird placement. :( Would you do a refresh on Project Zomboid or even a series at some point? Despite their setbacks in the past the devs have been very busy improving the game over last years and I think they would deserve a bit more attention for being, in my opinion, the best and most authentic zombie survival game at the moment (and another actually good example of early access).

eh, "authentic" would mean you hide in your basement with 2 months worth of ramen noodles, water, and a good generator or two. Then you come out and all the zombie corpses are rotted and harmless.

+Tiberius Wolf That's the thing, a zombie apocalypse would only last a few months to a year depending on how the governments handle it. Zombies are just walking corpses so they would just rot to the point of uselessness. Just get a few months worth of fuel, ramen/assorted canned food, and bottled water and your good. He'll get more fuel, and some extra batteries, and get a laptop with some games downloaded on it to pass the time. (I definitely don't have 2k+ hours of time on assorted steam games.) Hell ducking torrent some, anti-piracy laws mean nothing in the end of days.

I liked the very first preview version many years ago. The game in its current state now is.. lacking, in comparison, ontop of being mechanically strange and having no real tutorial.

Huh. Quill your building it kinda like an American jail, (idk if this is how they do it all over) where you have a reception which you then pass thru a door into the holding cells till they process you at which point they take you to an actual cell

Major difference however being that when your in a normal cell the "canteen" is really just a common room which is mostly just for other things, for breakfast they give you a tray which you are to eat in your cell, and they will stick you in the cell with 1-3 others, depending upon how crowded the jail is

You still start in a new prison. But (on a mac) you an press escape and get to the main menu and create a new prison with your preferred warden.

Seems we're not gonna get DLC for PC at this point :/, which is a shame because the Base PC game is good, but the PS4 and Xbox DLC's make their respective games better.
