I am so glad I called that Shiki's important question was "Hisui, what's the wifi password?" Most unrealistic part of the whole story: a modern day teen thinking he won't die without internet. Akiha is officially the main villain for banning Shiki's phone, and remake Kohaku can't possibly be bad if she's giving it back. I wonder if Shiki simply keeping it hidden on his person while in the house will lead to shit when Akiha notices he's got it in his pocket. And as another commenter said, it's supremely stupid to ban the best way to find and contact the sickly Shiki anyway, especially when he goes out. Regardless, the mansion rules sucking even more in the remake makes it seem like they're leaning harder on the fact that Akiha functions as an antagonist. Of course, much like the curfew, we all know the rules are only implemented so they can be broken all the time later. I don't keep up with this stuff, so I hadn't seen Dr. Arach before, and, uh, she sure has character design and dialogue. She's so over the top that I don't feel her hitting the qualities of Taiga like you're guessing - Taiga was an exaggerated but ultimately very realistic depiction of what she was - but if Arach shows up more I think she'll be more notable for tying into the mystery side of the story than her antics themselves. If she were in the original, I could totally see them teasing this longtime close friend of Makihisa's who he lets do what she wants being the mother of bastard Tohno kid(s). 4:24 The magical moment when Tanner realizes that the Yumizuka spelling won. 8:16 No, Akiha's pretty wrong here. I'd say remake Shiki is more handsome than his original version after they changed his eyes, hair, glasses, and that atrocious outfit. Never forget that horrible shirt.

Fun fact, the Touzakis are actually a very very obscure family that was in fact mentioned in previous material. Nothing super notable about them though, just a fun little reference like with Kugamine.

Arach is certainly a character. She's even crazier than Melty Kohaku. Speaking of, she is a real MVP for giving Shiki his phone back. The idea of your *younger* sibling taking it away just fills me with dread.

Dr. Arach while being sus as all hell is such a breath of fresh and so memorable.

Ok, it made sense in the OG for there not to be internet, and I can get there being no TV in the remake, but honestly it's really silly there's no wifi in the mansion in the remake. It's 2014, if you're not digital you're as good as dead, even if you're old money, especially if you live in Tokoyo. A better explanation would be wifi is reserved only for necessary business stuff and Shiki isn't allowed the password. Glad he still has Internet access because smartphone. Not a dealbreaker but still feels silly to me. EDIT: Ok Akiha is truly evil, how the heck she doesn't understand the Smartphone is a nessacary essential for daily living in 2014 is wild. As always Kohaku being best girl and the MVP giving it back to us, the low signal is also a good way of explaining why it won't be used much.
