You made a mistake in the video and that Arcruid and Ciel route in the original are part of Near Side, not Far Side. This is because the Far Side is actually an expansion of the original Tsukihime and was only labeled Near Side to differentiate the two. Basically the requirement of completing the Near Side before being able to access Far Side is also part of the reason why it was labeled as it is a reference to the fact that human can only see the near side of the moon from earth before space exploration make it possible to explore the far side. Also, though Satsuki route was canceled in the original, it seem to be intended to be part of Near Side as being hinted in Melty Blood. This is because her death are caused by a vampire.
Found it from "Every self-insert visual novel protagonist ever". Love your voice and this analysis, feels like something that should have way more views. Good work!
Correction bro. Near side is arcueid and ciel, far side is the other 4 girls. I also agree with you that the manga should ideally be the starting point of anyone who doesn't want to read the novel in general and I'd recommend it to people who have read the vn as well considering it is the basis of the remake according to nasu. Personally speaking it does justice to not just near side but also certain critical elements of far side and melty, as well as kagetsu tohya that were not in the original novel for various reasons.
Having finished the whole visual novel a couple of weeks ago, I absolutely recommend it. Hisui's route made me feel things that no other VN had made me feel before.
I agree. I like Hisui's route the most too. It was supposed to be the end of the novel. In the Remake, I think Hisui is now the first girl in the Red Garden, then Kohaku, Akiha and finally Satsuki.
Damn it looks so similar to FSN 1:53 the characters almost look the same, I should have read it ages ago. Also the early 2000s VN vibe is so comfy, that alone makes me want to read the original. This should have more views, great video, mate. +1 sub
What Tsukihime anime? I don’t know what you’re talking about, there’s absolutely no such thing as a Tsukihime anime! How can anyone watch an anime that doesn’t exist?
I think it's worth mentioning that there are releases of the game (That are pretty easy to track down) that completely mod out the H-Scenes. I personally will say that I do think all of the routes are equally interesting, as I do find the vampiric lore stuff quite fascinating (Especially with how it's further expounded upon within Melty Blood, with the existence of Red Arcueid as a creation of TATARI being based on the few scenes in which she loses control in the original Tsukihime), though building further on Shiki and the residents of the Tohno mansion as actual characters proves to be an interesting point in the other routes, though I believe that intrigue doesn't work quite as well without the Near Side routes of Arcuied and Ciel building up some of the mystery behind them.
The H scene is integral to the story, at least for Akiha route. That said, Ciel and Arcruid probably would be better without, though the choice of having glasses or without glasses in Ciel route does add to its uniqueness.
@@13gan I don't know that the H Scene in Akiha's route is actually integral to the story, unless you can explain how (I'm not trying to be coy, I'm genuinely curious). The mod that removes the H-Scenes just adds in a fade to black right before and after the actual 'H' portion. (Spoilers ahead) It cuts out right after their kiss, and cuts back in with Akiha asking Shiki to kill her if she ever ends up going crazy like SHIKI. I read a transcript of the scene itself and then loaded up my save file of the modded version, and I don't know that any of the H bit is integral to the plot besides that moment. It does cut back out of the scene right Shiki tells her that he's pissed off that she'd talk about dying after he'd tried so hard to pleasure her. The line is slightly changed to remove the implication of sex being changed from 'But what really pisses me off is that you were thinking about dying when I was trying so hard to please you." to 'But what really pisses me off is that you were thinking about dying when I..." The next lines are Akiha being shocked, followed by Shiki telling her he loves her, which actually flows quite naturally. It cuts out once again as the sex continues right after Shiki says he wants to be with her as long as he lives. They then let in one single line where Shiki holds her, before cutting to him falling onto the futon, and then following with the scene of Akiha speaking to Shiki telepathically as he falls asleep. Unless there's something actually important about the sex itself, the mod is actually *very* careful to make sure that everything important to the plot isn't compromised. So yeah, I would still recommend this as the way to play the game.
@@joeriley1219 The reason I say that the H scene is important in Akiha route is that instead of mere words, they truly show how they love each other. This is despite the feeling of doom throughout the entire scene, as they know that their relationship most likely have no future. When they say that they love each other, they are not just expressing familial love or even of lust but its closer the an innocent pure love and that they're not afraid to act on it. This is why the inevitable ending feel more tragic. The difference between skipping the H scene and with H scene is like the difference between saying "I promise we'll go to Disneyland" and "We're in Disneyland". All that add up to when Shiki have to make the decision to kill himself. Its not as simple as not wanting a family member to die or even gf but truly about killing one part of himself, not just because they share a life but also to Shiki, there truly is no separation between "Shiki" and "Akiha" but rather as one soul. Both ending benefit from it but more so for the True End, where the fate of Shiki is unknown, in that even if Shiki truly die, he still live within Akiha.
man the part 3:47 was the funniest and the dumbest shit shiki have talked to ciel i dont know but nasu really smoked too much that he said fuck this WE BALLIN with this part
Died at the anime part but i will admit for such a trash anime the soundtrack was one of the best i've heard in atleast a 2000s anime and i will always listen to it from time to time because its just that good.
I just finished the Manga so I searched Tsukihime on google and so many things popped up visual novels, sequel, video games? I am so confused I just thought it was only a manga
The original source material is this visual novel! The manga is an adaptation of it that only covers 2 of 5 character routes. Definitely consider reading it if you enjoyed the manga! The original visual novel also has: -A sequel called Kagetsu Tohya -A fighting game series called Melty Blood -A 'remake' called Tsukihime Remake that has a completely new story None of these are necessarily required to experience the full story but they're fun experiences
Hi! I found your channel while reading comments on a hursh191 video. You had commented, and you’re pfp got me to check out whether you posted vids. So glad I did! I thought I had to have a PC to read Tsukihime. The link you provided has shown me I was ! 🙏🏾 I play MBTypeLumina, have started reading Witch on the Holy Night (the remake’s demo) and really like it. I’m excited to start Tsukihime. thanks!
Should you read Tsukihime? Of course, it has the cute Kohaku as a main heroine... Kohaku is the best girl and has the best ending, and if you don't agree with me I'll wait for you behind the school tomorrow to fix it!!! Nice video, I already read it but after listening to what you said it made me want to play it again. It's a shame we have to wait another 10 years for Other Side of Red Garden's routes (and the worst thing is that they haven't announced a Shiki's master route...)
Yo! Good video. I recently downloaded the original Tsukihime vn, but I've been hesitant on starting. But with this vid I've gotten more clarity. I've been wanting to try more of Nasu's other works for some time and I don't care for the sex scenes so I'll just fast forward through them on mute. I'll also start the manga because many like you have said that it's good. Thanks for the breakdown.✊🏾
You can choose whether to follow Ciel or Arcueid's routes on the first playthrough, however to get Akiha and Hisui's routes you have to get either Ciel or Arc's ending(s) first. To get Kosaku you have to get either Akiha or Hisui's ending(s).
If you're comfortable torrenting here's a link to every single version of melty blood: nyaa.si/view/1042489 If you just want the 2002 version: mirrormoon.org/projects/complete/melty-blood/ If you just want the latest version (MBAACC, 2011): play.meltyblood.club/
@@BLACKDISC I have all the versions but I can't install the original Melty Blood for some reason. The others work just fine. Do you know how to solve that?
Hey, I don’t really have the time to sit in front of my computer to read a VN for hours, but I think I could maybe watch a full playthrough (readthrough?). Can someone recommend me a good one?
I think the first one that shows up 'Tsukihime Playthrough' is the only one that's complete with all routes. Other than that, if you have an Android you could read it on your phone using the 'ONScripter Plus' app.
There's a playthrough in RU-vid if you search for it. That said, watch it when you're alone because it include the H scene uncensored. Also, don't post link to it in the comment. Afterall, we don't want to lose this treasure to RU-vid censorship, now do we?
I'll be honest about remake. Nasu messed up Tsukihime so hard. Most of the new characters do not fit the game and its atmosphere. They are just out of the place. Especially Noel and that doctor. They just don't feel like Tsukihime character. Doctor is the worst one but... Come of the think maybe loli Noel is the worst lol 😂 Nasu must have been on drugs while writing that character and thinking her design. Mario was just... meh, not needed but if we have him it won't hurt game. I really like Vlov though. He fits Tsukihime well and I have no complain whatsoever about him. But why don't we have Nero? Seeing Nero and Vlov together in the novel would have been amazing. Also, why all the girls are way too skinny? I hate that ufotable design, making all the girls extra skinny and only make their boobs bigger. I prefer 2003 anime designs (which reflects og tsukihime vn character designs perfectly) over new ufotable ones any time. Soundtrack and Ciel route ending remake was really good though. Og Tsukihime Ciel route and endings were really bad, so I must give credit Nasu about remake and make better Ciel's route. (even though Ciel route have that extremely annoying Noel the route itself still better than old Tsukihime) Also we don't know when will near side routes become playable and how Nasu will mess up it, so playing the original Tsukihime novel is still a good choice.
@@BLACKDISC thanks man as I’ve been very interested in the type moon visual novels, as I know they’ve came out in Japan but at least there’s a way to download them and I know those games don’t cause viruses which is good. But thanks for the information.
nah this is pretty standalone you can read it by itself. The only thing that really carrys over to other nasuverse works is the character Aoko and the concept of 'Mystic Eyes'
@@BLACKDISC concept of true ancestors, dead apostles, holy church...and ciel also is important in bigger picture, since they had influence upon other type moon works
I would likely be already done with the VN, were three things not the block line for me: I: "Pornophobia" - Although, i were warned from those who read all of the VN about Tsukihime having strong-disturbing Hentai material. Which is what got me even more anxious and fearfulled once i have realized Shiki's prize of having a fantasy dream, by Arcueid, was only vanilla/fraction to what i am a press of Enter away from manifesting to my eyes, in Day IX. This got me disappointed towards our man Shiki to do what he did over bloody golden eyes... II: Childhood Trauma - Back in previous decade, during the age of 12-13 years, along with parents and sister we visited aunt and uncle in Belgrade. We slept there few days, out of which, one day i asked uncle about letting me play videogames on PC. He lead me to his office like room, turned it on. But what he opened on browser were not videogames, rather porn, not just the stick but piss and all that nonsense. Sure, i can just yeet that CTRL for couple of seconds, or chose to auto-skip till the next choice prompt, but since i want to kill fear of porn i hesitate to skip anything in Tsukihime, in order to 100% the VN. Perhaps, getting rid of this fear by playing an Eroge is not the brightest idea. It is same as being assured one can just begin doing a lot of exercise on day one of training and then ends up having immense muscle pain next few days, unable to train next few days etc. III: Not having a laptop - Since in the apartment i live with parents and sister, my PC is only allowed to be placed in the living room. Which, you guessed it, is also why i can not play commonly each day. Especially unable to do so due to the monitor facing the entrance to the room so anyone can see what am i doing on PC, plus over arrangement of said room, nothing can be done about this. Getting one soon luckily, knowing an old ThinkPad from Windows XP era that is from one of other aunt's daughter all does is collecting dust. Likely getting it tomorrow for once. So yeah, these excuses aside i am willed to read it all, no matter what. I am fine with it taking long as the Remake English release becomes real one day, or The Red Garden Remake release, hahahah . . .
There are actually some decently easily accessible versions of the OG Tsukihime that removes the H Scenes (just look for the Non-Ero version), the H-scenes are mostly just filler and only really benefit one (maybe two) routes... And even then they barely benefit them at all. Also the H-Scenes aren't particularly great to begin with often coming across as shit posts (almost humorous how bad some of the dialogue is). And if you do decide to go through with reading the version with the H-Scenes intact, well I wish you the best of luck friend. Edit: Spelling and adding a point I forgot to make.
