❤❤❤ I quit losing weight (weight loss) over 20 years ago, instead I changed my lifestyle / what and how I eat, focusing on portion control, not avoiding foods. I slowly lost the weight and the inches and in the process became a diet-controlled diabetic. Basically I quit thinking about what docs and family said, and started doing what I knew I needed to take care of me. Best wishes on your journey! ❤❤❤

Exactly! That’s only way to do it!! Who wants to be on a “diet” their whole life. They don’t work long term sustainable. Doing it the way you did it truly is the ONLY Way! Congrats!

This is basically a Health At Every Size approach and it sounds so good! I think people would do well to realize that over 90% of diets fail and lead to more weight gain in the long run.

You sharing this is great and brave because so many people mask these types of realities, they act like they don’t happen and it makes it feel shameful. It isn’t something you or anyone can help. I have also struggled with anxiety and depression severely over the years. It is a rollercoaster and not a fun one. Also, weight loss is a different journey for everyone for many reasons. There isn’t one size fits all literally. People who lose weight too fast will likely struggle to keep it off. Praying for peace for you on your mental health journey.

So sorry you are going through a hard time. But thank you for being so real and honest. 2 years ago I lost 10kgs for my wedding, I felt so good in myself after I was living my best life and being so social. I promised myself I would never do that to my self again, Now a few years later I have put all the weight back on and more and I am living in hiding because I am so ashamed. I say no to everything. I am wasting my life and I so get it. Thank you for making me feel a little less alone x

I think I told you this before but I'll share again. I had gastric sleeve in June 2019, went from 280 to 205 in January 2022. Then I kicked out into super high gear. My diet was A+, exercise changed my body a ton but I was only at 190 by April 2022. Never looked better! Had a hysterectomy first of May, kept my ovaries so that shouldn't have affected me? Steadily gained weight since then. I was not able to get back to working out. Side note: I was on Topomax from late 2021 thru end of April 2022. Now, I'm at 237. I feel like a complete failure. Once I got under 200lbs, I said I'd never go back over. It's devastating. I'm so desperate to get back to where I was but it feels impossible. I feel like a totally different person.

I'd followed you for a long time now and I admire your mental strength and energy so I feel I know you and I can just get in your business😅. So yesterday I went to the dietician to start my weight management plan, I feel exactly like you! The most significant thing she told me is that weight is a disease just like any other and most of the times we need medication, which I'm totally against it because of all this diet culture of you should do it naturally, just eat less, blah blah blah. So they haven't tell me if they'll give me meds yet, but you know what, I'll take them..because I'm at a point in my life where I don't want to feel like a failure since I do so much for others! I deserve to also feel good and if it's a disease then I have to take care of me. Just throwing my 2 cents there. Take care!

Girl you are doing your best! It’s hard being a working mom, your time and energy runs out as the sun goes down. But hey tomorrow’s another day! And we all fall off the diet wagon, mainly because we are pulled in so many directions all the time. Mothers tend to put everyone’s wants and needs ahead of our own. I think the traveling for your job is hurting your goals. So maybe a new game plan for when you travel to stay on track and less overwhelmed. When I feel like I’m falling behind and can’t get everything done, I give myself some grace.

They watch you navigate all of your jobs (i lost count) juggle family commitments, be present in their lives and take time for self care when needed. Sure sometimes the crud finds us and knocks us down but we fight thru it. They will also be strong, caring, productive people because of their role models. There's 2 reasons...your kiddos. In the last two years I have gotten into the habit of drinking 16 oz of LMNT or SALTT electrolytes before I make my coffee. It definitely helps me with my energy in the a.m. (otherwise I have none.) I will not have the coffee until I drink the whole thing. The last thing i do in the kitchen at night is make 2 electrolyte drinks in 2 different bottles. One is for overnight, if the dogs wake me for a bathroom call, and the other is for the first thing in the morning and then I make one more to have at work. Hope you are feeling better.

Jen you are such breath of fresh air!🩷 Have you thought about doing a podcast that you also film for RU-vid? I think it would be amazing😊

If I can say...I think that you are a beautiful, intelligent, talented, funny, and such a real person. I am so sorry that you have been feeling bad about yourself. If you can, please don't pay any attention to those who give off negativity. And yes....I do know it is so easy for someone on the outside to say this, but I can tell you that I truly know some of how you feel. We are nearly neighbors ( I live about 100 miles south of Kansas City) and have had some similar experience with our weight. But you have done much better with yours. It has been my pleasure to get to "know" you through RU-vid and I am always thrilled when I see a Jen Chapin video show up in my list to watch. You will never know how much you helped me when I was stuck at home during quarantine with much the same issues you are facing now. I would be happy to do something for you if I canl

I am a carbon copy of you! Postpartum depression, on medication and feeling a little down right now. I too am thinking it's the weather here in Michigan-blah! Thank you for being so honest, mental health is very important. Everything you said just hit home for me! I lost 20# myself and gained it all back over the holidays too and feel like a failure but you have made me feel better so thank you. I'm a nurse too so we are carbon copies!❤

Hi Jen thank you for this video just what I needed today. Everything you said is if you where talking about me. Thank you for who you are. And I feel thw same about weight. My whole lifetime I was told that I am fat and my sister is the skinny one which in fact i wasn't over weight but my sister was belimic(sorry for spelling). But that stuck with me. Even now that I am older I struckling with weight. And get very unmodivated if I dont see any progress. Thank you very much again for sharing this video❤❤❤

I’ve never commented on your videos before but I just came here to say that I continue to watch your videos because of your setback. It’s real, relatable, and your life is more than your looks. I think what you show us about yourself is awesome ❤

It's crazy how many people are feeling this way lately! Go easy on yourself, but keep going. Maybe instead of weekly weigh-ins, what if you post when you hit 10 lbs, 20 lbs and so on? I love everything you do and you bring so much joy and laughter to so many. Thank you ❤

Jen, you are not alone in the VSG fail. I am one of those as well. We beat ourselves up and think that we should be able to just lose the weight again if we reset. Let me tell you, there is no reset! If that were the case, many of us would be talking about it! It's ok to feel depressed as long as you recognize it, breathe through it and move on from it. I hope that you find yourself in all this chaos and your mental health can begin to recover some! Hugs and Blessings!!!

I have to mentally check myself daily due to the lasting effects 90s diet culture had on me growing up. It’s a daily struggle and I want you to know you’re not alone. I hope you’re feeling better this week….especially because of your beloved Chiefs! ❤
