→ The mine (despite its looks) doesn't need power, so you can simply use the rope bridges (made of logs and planks only) for a path, no need for the overhangs. → If you still have too many unemployed beavers, check whether your district crossings are fullly staffed.

For the mine, you could also use draw-bridges (yes, they require a little science, but they don't use mettal)

I only ever staff my folktails mines with bots, so they can work all night, so I get more metal per day. Maybe you could do bots next if you're worried about the mine being slow? If you could get an aqueduct over to the plateau with the observatory, you could make a lido spot and also a nice garden area like you mentioned at the beginning.

I’d recommend turning the observatory area into essentially a park for the “That Place Up There” beavers wellbeing, fulfill their aesthetic and social bonuses at once. I’m talking lido, campfire, temple, benches, shrubbery, scarecrows, and even a carousal since you’ve got excess power and the shafts already leading there. They’ve got tasty food and some statuary, but not much else to support their wellbeing yet. Let’s fix that. Though you may not have the science to get everything yet. I still like the idea of the mountain beavers finally getting to enjoy themselves like the valley beavers. And for the mine, I think a nice big bridge to connect it would do well.

Let put the farmer’s monument in that place up there to embarrass all the industrial workers that they don’t do any farming. 😂

Suspension bridges (already mentioned by others) are a good option for getting to the mine. IMO for now just build stairs to it to get started on building. Buying overhangs or bridges is a good chunk of science and can be done later. For now maybe just worry about getting it built.

For the observatory area, you may use an underground pipe. Not sure if it'll work but if it does, it'll be great. Underground source of water that can also be used as a reservoir depending on the size. But the basic idea would be 3 slots wide, 2 slots deep. Levees on the sides, impermeable stuff in the middle cover by a one height dam, and on top of that, one layer of dirt to make it look more natural.

If you have a levee block, you don't need an impermeable floor over or under it. (Not sure whether dirt can now be placed on top of other things.)

38:22 i wopul put an underground metal block storage there to repalce the normal one, that way they can pick up the blocks inside the reservoir and you can get rid of the ones near the observatory.

If you make the artificial lidos in the observatory area, that'd provide the irrigation you need to make that place a nice natural rec area like you did in the first update 5 playthru with the iron teeth

Artificial lake fed by Aqueduct on the Observatory hill. Then you could have the park type place you mentioned at the beginning of this episode and the Lido you mention towards the end... win win..👍👍👍👍

It would be really cool to have a long series of suspension bridges going to the mine. Sort of like an tall old rickety wooden bridge, very spooky and dangerous :)

Don't forget to check the settings for the outlet sluices, I'm not sure they're right for the next bad tide.

I was thinking putting dams in the middle, then open the outside ones as open for contamination. Closed otherwise, and the overflow just goes over the dams

Make the bridge to the mine just with scaffolding for now. You should get your mining started before you decide to make it look all fancy

I would say go for the 6x1 overhangs. And maybe suspension bridges. And, remember, you can build overhangs on overhangs. So at the end of an overhang, you can add an overhang for extra distance.

I found my hold-up with the wonder to be treated planks, especially since I also needed to use them in the mine, so definitely invest in that!

Build a wall to the mine so the bad water cant flow that way. Just so you can make the mountain side green if you like

if you want to install lidos in that place up there, you could put dams (or, as a hedge against evaporation, adjustable floodgates, which can now be set higher) in the water source by the housing horseshoe and stick a couple of lidos in there

You closed all the gates above 1% contamination. That's why the reservoir flooded.

don't forget to adjust the gates for water / bad water filtration after blowing the tiles below since they set on water below X ..:D LOOOOVE the series!!!

Since you keep getting squirreled away from deleting it, that mini-reservoir where the big pump was originally gonna go might not be a bad place for a couple lidos, maybe a couple showers. Although contamination isn't a thing, for pseudo-hygenic purposes, you could put in levees, sluices or floodgates on one side at the top, so it doesn't "share" water with the main tank, and on a more practical bent, so it gets re-filled last, after the important water. A dam would work great for this, no metal, needed [to save for the mine] you are downstream of your badwater bypass, and if the main reservoir is full enough, the pool gets filled. Any other water based entertainment [and maybe some contemplation spots on platforms over the water] could go there as well

9:02 You could take out the bridge at the top of the screen. placing a dam in its place... but with a sluice gate at the bottom this you could fill to a higher water level than the main pool and green the area near the observatory. This could also act as an entertainment area with lidos.

Loving this play through. I'm also watching the live stream with the "J7 bypass ". Great mega-build, but the side conversations make it harder to watch. Can't wait for the next video.

The dam and bypass are fine as is. If you mess with it and make it complicated you’ll probably just make trouble for yourself. Blast out the area you’ve already enclosed and you’ll probably be able to hold more water than you’ll ever need for this difficulty level.

you should brobably replace 2 of the sluices at the water exit with dams so it can flow over the top when it needs to and the other 2 open when there’s badwater it would broadly help and if its still overflowing maybe do 3 dams and 1 badwater sluice

That would be the less efficient thing ever built but a cool spiral scenic route around the mining mountain would look great ( BTW "Mining mountain" is my suggestion for the district that will end up there)

For the exit you need a height difference between the sluices that fill the reservoir and the exit. You don’t need sluices on the exit as they are the same level as the reservoir filling sluices. A basic dam gives you the height difference allowing for you to prioritise filling the reservoir but when it is full allow for excess to go over the dam. you need to set the fill to height for the sluices filling the reservoir and the after that you should be self-sustaining

I am assuming water evaporates at the same rate no matter what the conditions are. But if you built a giant cube of levees, that is covered on the top as well, would that reduce the rate at which water evaporates?

I would do overhang platforms all the way to the mines and then on top of them put platforms with roofs that way your minors are a little special and they get the roof walkway

or just use a straight line of levees to the mine to use some of all the woos your getting from your demolishing work.. and then upgrade it for something cooler when you have the materials..

You could destroy the dams all at once and let the Beevers get it from under water. Also you could somewhat just continuously expand your reservoir of you have extra trees or wood. Not nessisary on normal difficulty but something about large body's of water awaken my beever brain

I love ladders! I just like to try and do the first playthrough of each update with as few mods as possible, and especially without using mods that fundamentally change the game in a big way like ladders do. We'll use them next playthrough 😎

6:56 Why not add 2 sluice gates to the right of the right hand stair case at the Mega dam? It would green some of the area to the right of the starting town. Start with blasting a little river 2 to 3 blocks wide at the bottom of the cliff and then when you take away 2 blocks from the top of the dam it will be more under control.

You're saying you're going to be fine with just the one observatory? You sure? Remember that if you want to get Bots, they also require science to allow them to do the jobs you want them to do. You definitely need to fix things up, and upgrade where possible as well.

I would to see either a modder or the developer to intro transformers. Because there is line loss with power. Also due to friction there would also be power loss. That would be cool to see that in the game.

Our friend BatterySmooth actually models this with the Flywheels mod - each of the flywheels store power like gravity batteries do, but they have some parasitic draw over time. It's pretty cool!
