Let's Talk: About 3 point lifting capacity 

Why can't every sales person be as upfront and informative as you? I've watched almost every video you have on the BX series and your videos by far have helped me make an informed decision on witch machine to purchase. You made it soooo easy to choose. Thanks for all you do for me/us.

3 point lift capacity does matter when you are using it for pulling posts or stumps out of the ground. In my experience on smaller tractors, the 3 point will have a little more power than using a loader. Plus it's easier and doesn't jerk the tractor as much or potentially bend the loader frame.

My local Kubota dealer just told me my BX2680 would only lift the RB0560 (143#) and that the RB1560 (248#) was too heavy to lift! Glad I watched your video! Thank you!

Just to throw it out there to the people who say they've never given a thought to lift capacity. I burn wood pellets. I use my tractor's 3 point hitch to lift a 1 ton pallet of wood pellets out of my truck 4 times a year. Everyone needs their tractors for different things. Running the numbers before buying a tractor and even making sure that it can do what you need it to do before buying is pretty important.

I’ve currently been binging on Messick videos... I bought my bx from o.c. Rice before you guys took them over and I’ve always been unclear on what my 3 point hitch could do for fear of breaking something. I have had my front end come up a time or two from having a heavy load and going up a hill, but just like Neil says specs advertised may not be safe depending on how you have it loaded. Also, good to know my 3 point is likely far stronger than anything the tractor itself could handle.

Neil the heaviest attachment I have is my rcr1548 rotary cutter for my BX 2380.. Never gave a it a thought but I think that's 443 lbs.. It lifts it just fine..

John Deere did on my 3032e. I got a $7,000 implement, that on paper the tractor/3 pt should've been able to lift, but couldn't get more than 4" off the ground. I called JD (a service shop/dealer) and they said I could open a valve to give it more power but that could blow, to be careful. That the number they have on the specs was at the 3pt, not off the 3pt. I did one half crank and it didn't help. I had to borrow my brother's tractor to use the implement. I sold the JD two weeks ago and got a Kubota L4701. That thing is a beast. Night and day difference in quality and performance.

As someone who farmed for years I can honestly say I never even gave a thought to lift capacity of a 3 point hitch. If you could get it attached, it worked.

My old Case(David Brown) is rated at about 2 tons, and considering the front end starts to get floaty at about that weight, even with 1500 pounds of loader on the front, I don't think I'd want it to be a lot higher.

I agree Neil they should have to make that rating with out holding the tractor down. I have a b2910 with a snowblower on the back and even with weights on the front blower weighs 550lbs and the front tires are barely on the ground. Can't imagine it would lift the 1400 it's rated for!!

Yep just like truck manufacturers and tow ratings, same concept vehicle may handle it but not safely. Marketing people know what folks are doing and how their shopping so if that info guides individuals towards one or the other they’ve succeeded.

Neil could you explain why a tractor such as the LX3310 has more lift capacity than the standard L-series? When I asked for opinions between the LX and the L series someone mentioned that the LX series would be limited to 500lb implements due to the cast aluminum rear end. In searching and comparing tractors for my first tractor I am trying to consider everything, do you have a video on tractor weight? IE if my needs would be better suited to being able to add weight to the tractor when needed vs having that built in weight?

WOW! That is a Pretty Little Tractor! I have a 2020 KUBOTA MX5400, HST, 4WD, Ect..for Farming. But, If I had the extra $$$ right now I'd go buy 1 of these..very nice!🤗👍👌

As usual, thanks for the informative video. What is equally annoying as the way manufacturers list their specs, are dealers that have no idea what they are trying to sell. When talking to a local Kubota salesman recently, he told me the L series has a mid PTO. Huh?

So a lot of those numbers are probably a bit conservative, at least from Kubota's standpoint. They'd rather under-rate their capacities knowing a customer will most likely hookup something bigger just because. At least with under-rating the real numbers the lift components shouldn't be over-stressed and should last longer I would assume by not being ran up to max capacity.

That BX weighs 1400lbs.......or 1500lbs with all those keys in the ignition! lol Just kidding, GREAT video!

This is so true. My '83 B5100 is rated to lift 300lbs. It will lift the front of the machine off the ground at idle without even bogging. I'm guessing it would easily lift 8-900lbs but it would be unusable with that weight on it.

And older stuff is generally built beefier my 35 ish hp when brand new tractor has a cat 2 hitch and now like 50 hp tractors come with cat 1 i remember when dad bought a twin to our tractor with all the equipment we were unload a section of a mounted corn picker with the boom and at first the tractor said no so dad called grandpa and said adjust this and the homemade 3pt arm where it hooks up to the rockshaft weld broke we swap it out later for a factory 3pt and havent met its limit except when i was pulling my 9 ton pintle trailer hooked to the booms drawbar hole and was flattening my rear tire cause i had some good logs on it now i have a hammer strap hitch built i bolt on if needing to haul my flatbed

How much weight should these sub compact 25 HP diesel, HST tractors be able to pull. As an example in a 10-12 foot long trailer hauling firewood?

Question: I have a BX2370, when using a sub soiled my depth will only reach 6-8 inches max. How do I get the lift to go lower for deeper depth on subsoiler?

Can the lifting height be adjusted on a three point hitch on a BX2380, IE WHILE USING A BLOWER CAN YOU SET HEIGHT SO THE BLOWER OR BOX SCRAPER REMOVES SNOW AND NOT THE GRAVEL UNDER IT, BY RESTRICTING THE RETURN POSITION WHEN LOWERED. I believe you can on a John Deere 1025R. Trying to make my final buying decision.

I'm not really sure what's right for me I'm thinking of Kubota bx23s, the jobs I have at hand are, digging and probably ago 6 to 12 inch trench not exactly sure, mowing about five and a half acres, loader work including, you might not believe this one... Hauling groceries from a vehicle to the house! I know that sounds kind of stupid, but in all seriousness V applications are not sure what size decks probably 54 to 60 in,

I own a 1988 Yamaha Terrapro quad with PTO, I'm looking for a small tiller or even the hydraulic pump, can you find those part ? I can't find them anywhere now. I algredy own the finish mower, the brush hog, the snowblower and a snowplow.

If the manufacture states that it can lift more weight then it's classification then it's false advertising. That WHY there are classifications. If the attachment is too big it won't fit the equipment.

my chipper weights 600 lbs and when hooked up to a john deer 1025 she doesn't steer for shit, i don't think there is more then 100 lbs on the front axle. grab a load of rock and all is fine.

Good video BUT...Common sense would tell the intelligent person most of the things you said. Therein lies the problem. If manufacturers were being honest, they would simply put out basic facts, then issue the warning: Don't Be Stupid. HOWEVER, we must keep in mind that being stupidity is a lot like death. That is, the person directly effected doesn't know it, so it's only a problem for those around them.

Just don't buy a toy, buy a real tractor!
