hello and welcome to my channel!
this is my first video actually! Talking about this topic is something I've been wanting to do for a long long time! As a little girl, I was the viewer searching on youtube for terms like "asian adoptee". The videos I came across were few and far between. I am excited for this video. I hope that this video reaches the little kids who want to learn more about what identity can look like. There are a multitude of ways people can identify and be an Asian American adoptee is one that is not shown in media at all. I hope that this video sparks some people's interest in learning about identity and what it means to be adopted cross-culturally.

Lately I’ve been feeling “in-between”, and came across your video. Thank you for sharing. Where I live I’m too Asian for my white friends, but not Asian enough for 1st generation/ international students. I feel disconnected. When I work at my summer job people will start speaking mandarin to me and I have to apologize because I cannot speak their mother tongue. I also agree with you on the whole “switch” between languages. I had a lot of trouble with spelling. If you ever want to connect, please reach out.

Thanks for sharing Emma! I related to learning things when your meant to and being where you are even if it’s not where you expected. Also about having unique expressions that make it hared to fit into groups because they make yours really niche

Emma, I am a first generation Asian Canadian. It is really interesting to hear your story and your life experiences. Emma ,I think that you are so special, and that you are unique in all the world. Your existence is the perfect embodiment of the holy spirit of love. I have a two year old daughter, and her mother is also asian. I could not imagine the sorts of trauma you must have had to endure growing up. It is truly heart breaking to think of what if it was my daughter who went through those very same things. I think that it takes a very special person to adopt a child, let alone one from a background that is entirely foreign to that of their own, but also to raise and care for that child no different than any child of their own flesh and blood; I think that is truly something to be celebrated. I don't think that you, and others like you, really understand how special and truly unique you really are... Ask yourself this, Why would you want to be like us? To fit in or to belong somewhere where you can find likeness in us? To be the same as those who, through no fault of their own, have been conditioned to see you different? And I'm talking about every ethnicity within the human existence. No Emma, you and others like you... are unique in all the world. Emma, Thank you so much for sharing your experience, and please, never stop having the courage to share the values instilled in you.
