I bought some of those metal springs for the throttle failsafe. They touched the slide boot a little and I just envisioned that it would result in a punctured boot and dirt being ingested. Never actually ran em. Hairbands work great tho.
Do you run a glitch buster on your recievers? Im still trying to learn this nitro stuff. I have a few radiolink controllers i have ran for years now on all my brushless cars. Hands down best controller for the $.
I run a capacitor(glitch buster) in my Kyosho mp9. Only because of the famously power hungry older pair of Savox high voltage servos(1267/1268) installed in it. I don't think they are required/useful in 95% of modern setups. That being said, if you find yourself with a component that draws a lot of juice, they can help.
